The first clue that someone has not actually read Das Kapital (the magnum opus for socialism/communism) is that they focus on the authoritarian ways that governments have done in the name of soclalism. If you read Marx (which the OP has not).. you would know that Marx did not support this but thought that it would inevitably lead this. His writings are more prediction than telling society what to do. Where he was wrong was that he completely missed the technology bandwagon.

I am talking about society in general. Well, carry along. I do not have the patience for you today. -

So then what do you do with the adult population? Revoke their first amendment rights, ban the internet... and you think that this is possible.. hmm... -

As long as you have the first amendment and the Internet.. you are going to have some degree of wokeness in the more populated areas. There is no way to unring the bell. -
Ukraines global support is starting to wane.

I am not sure why we actually need to see this put to the test. Russia would fight hard but their economy has too many weaknesses for any type of victory to be sustained. The USSR was in massive debt starting in the late 1960's and eventually just could not sustain it. -

Europe tried the strategy of not buying gas/oil from Russia and starving them out. Well.. did not work. They simply sold it to China, North Korea, Mongolia, and other Asian nations. I applaud the efforts of Germany and such but Russia is big and has little man syndrome. -
Totally unrelated but that is your character.

its not enough. They face an opponent that dwarfs them in every way. Besides that they are nearly surrounded on most fronts. Prior to the war, Ukraine was the second poorest country in Europe behind only Albania. -
perverse.. in other words.. it does not fit your subjective opinions. In short, all you have is opinion. It would be fact if the words were explicitly used.

Actually it is necessary for the connection to be 1 to 1 and therefore true. If not.. it is subjective and nothing but opinion.

it makes sense. They were fighting a losing battle. While I do support their right to exist as a nation, I am realistic to know that they had a monumental task ahead of them. -
interesting how the bible can have commentary on socialism when the term did not even come about until 1832 or so. From there, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels brought into the greater light with the publication of Das Kapital in 1867.

Their desire for military comes from being invaded multiple times in the past and being the poor, hapless "step brother" of sorts. Mongols in the 13th century, Napoleon in 1812, and then Hitler in 1941. Yes, Russia survived all of it but when it comes to the last two.. it was really a matter of attrition rather than superior might or intelligence. Had Napoleon and Hitler attempted their invasions in the spring.. the story changes greatly. The ramp up in military spending post WWII was a reaction to them losing so many lives in WWII and the western world not exactly being on the same page with them. If they deem all of Europe to be the enemy (which I am not sure that they do) then yes Ukraine becoming part of NATO is a strategic problem. However, their top heavy economy is the real problem. If they do not control gas/oil, natural gas, and iron markets.. their economy would crumble.

What worries me about a Biden 2nd Term
impartialobserver replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
best day of the year will be the day after the election, November 6. The end of political ads, pamphlets, robocalls, etc. Regardless of who wins, I find the day after to be better than the day of. -
years ago in undergrad took a bunch of history courses.. two were on Russia. If you do a really deep dive, you find that Russia pre-Lenin was a land of mostly poor peasants farmers and ranchers. Large population, lots of resources, massive land area but not a lot of infrastructure or educated populace. Read the novels by Tolstoy, Turgenev, and Dostoyevksky.. they paint the picture. This was why the Soviet Union went bankrupt. Yes, they had military might but to acquire said military, they had to go in debt. Their economy past and present has always been heavily reliant on extraction of raw minerals and commodities. A lot of their confounding economic and political decisions can be traced to this.

this thread is too funny.

If one is truly being honest.. Biden is no different than past presidents when it comes to inflated government budgets. the only real difference is the covid-era stimulus packages. Eventually the credit card will max out and when it does... plenty of pain. As for the stimulus money.. it has mostly circulated through. Evidence being that there are extremely few un-redeemed checks (paper or virtual). the rate of money supply velocity has decreased to pre-covid levels. Now, if I was a politician.. i would be a one platform type.. decrease spending. Now, I know that would prevent my even making it out of the first primary.

unlike most.. the louder someone is.. the less I trust them or take them seriously. The pandemic taught me just how desperately seek affirmation. I got vaxxed but unless you live with me, you would never have known. LIkewise.. i could not care less if you got the jab or not. Folks posting their views on Facebook repeatedly I found to be immature. They are free to say it but I can and did unfriend or unfollow those who harped on it.
