  1. Must be new meds. He sure doesn’t seem to be complaining about the conviction of Senator Menendez.
  2. Not the same as control, especially controlling a woman's body, especially especially controlling a woman's body when her life is in danger. I find that the predominant religious "values" finding their way into politics today are no-coincidentally very very convenient if you just so happen to be a straight Christian white male.... because they have absolutely zero impact on the lives of straight white Christian males. How convenient!!
  3. I remember when Obama gave a State of the Union Address and took the Supreme Court to task for their ruling in Citizen’s United. And I remember the Republicans pretending to be so shocked that a President would complain about a Supreme Court decision. One party wants campaign finance reform and donation limits, and another who thinks that if oligarchs can’t donate $50 million a month to political campaigns, it’s depriving them of free speech.
  4. Truth is, John F Kennedy was not Robert Kennedy, Jr.’s dad. What was the name of Robert Kennedy, Jr.’s father? It’s really not that hard to figure out.
  5. Thank you. I read this several times, and I appreciate you for taking so much time with something that is so important. There are a few things we disagree about: I disagree that our religious views should control our government. The US Constitution forbids it. You say that Socialism is theft. But so is capitalism, and let me give you some examples. There is a desperately poor country called The Congo. They just happen to have the world’s largest reserves of cobalt, which is in high demand for lithium ion batteries. So they are mining and selling about $6 billion a year in cobalt. Who should own that? The guy who rode in with a bunch of armed mercenaries and declared that he owns the land, or should it be used for the benefit of all people of the Congo? Or the American company that bought the land from the President of the Congo for $50 million and then keeps the $6 billion for themself? I believe that people should be able to start businesses and prosper from them, but that does not mean I believe in fully unregulated capitalism which creates a handull of oligarchs who are free to exploit and pollute to their heart’s content, as they do in Russia. I believe it was Christ who said to “render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s,” and I agree with this. I don’t truly believe in socialism, either, which means government ownership of all businesses. I believe in the private ownership of business, but I don’t believe in oligarchy. I think you know very well that there are many who exploit the gospels for their own financial gain, and a “minister” such as Joel Osteen, who has an estimated net worth of $50 million, is one such person. But you ask about my relationship with Christ, and my relationship with Christ stretches back to before his birth. You see, when I pray, I pray in Hebrew, which is the same language as my ancestors. I don’t know who my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather was, but I know that he prayed in Hebrew. Not just in Hebrew… I recite my prayers word-for-word the same as my ancestors, and word-for-word the same as Jesus Christ. When Jesus buried his father Joseph, he recited an ancient prayer called the Kaddish. And we know this prayer is ancient, because it is written in Aramaic, which predates Hebrew. It’s been around for at least 3,000 years. When I buried my parents and grandparents, I recited the very same words that Christ recited when he buried his father Joseph. That bond has existed in my family for thousands of years. That bond was passed to me, and I will not break it. I have passed it to my children, and they will not break it. I know there is love and goodness in your heart when you ask me to break this bond, and I respect you for that, but I will keep this faith until I die. And when I die, if I have any choice in the matter, the last words to leave my lips will be in Hebrew, just as it was with Jesus Christ.
  6. Walk a mile in another man’s shoes. It’s incredibly difficult to raise a disabled child. You have absolutely no idea.
  7. The black woman is a member of the Ku Klux Klan? /Thread
  8. There is no vaccine for West Nile Virus.
  9. Sure. Everybody’s the devil, and you’re perfect and pure. Nobody hired me, pal. And to be honest… I think you’re a fool to think any government can respond to a declaration of war by appeasing terrorists who attacked them. Hamas has stated that their goal is to establish an Islamic caliphate over all of Israel, which would mean expelling all the Jews (just as all the other Arab nations have done). That’s not a solution the Israelis can accept, and the two million Arabs living in Israel don’t want it either.
  10. No, “we” did not all want Roe v Wade overturned. Why would Trump want Roe v Wade overturned if he wanted to legalize abortion?
  11. Oh? ”Hey, thanks for killing 1,200 of our teenagers and kidnapping another 250. Kumbaya!!! It’s our fault! Here, have some snacks and we’ll appease you. Would you like some missiles to fire at us? Here, have a few F-16’s!” You are irrational.
  12. That’s nonsense. Because that’s you deciding that you understand G-d perfectly and nobody but you does and only if people agree with you 100% can they possibly be right. That is just make-believe. Maybe some preacher sold you that bill of nonsense, or you’re truly crazy and you think G-d talks to you through your dog, but it’s nonsense. Jesus is very clear about many of these very things in the Sermon on the Mount. He tells us to beware of those who preach loudly on street corners or in church, for the rewards come to those who pray in silence at home. Do you choose to not believe that? Do you really think that he intends heaven for a flamboyant jerk like Joel Osteen and his Ministry of Money? This isn’t even difficult. Faith is between you and the Lord. It’s not a count of how many people you convert. Walk the walk. Prove the beauty of your faith through your acts of goodness. Christ, more than anything, was forgiving, not intolerant. And salvation is the Lord’s decision, not yours. There are many, many commandments which you violate in your life. As one famous rabbi once said: Too many of my congregants are too concerned about their material well-being and their neighbor’s salvation, when they should be more concerned with the material well-being of their neighbors and their own salvation. That comment has Christ written all over it. It is precisely what he means. Your faith is between you and the Lord, and your piety and your good acts. Forcing others to bow to your will is not an act of faith.
  13. No. It will not be the new normal. Either we elect Harris and the GOP tries somebody sane next time, or… We elect Trump, and our Constitutional system is permanently destroyed. Not hyperbole. Even though the Constitution clearly states that the President can be tried for crimes, the Supreme Court ruled that he cannot be. That is dictatorship, plain and simple. It destroyed Rome and it will destroy America.
  14. That’s adding a WHOLE lot less than concluding the statement means birth begins AT conception. The Bible definitely does NOT say “Life begins when sperm hits an egg”. It does say that you should give an accused adulteress a poison which will kill the unborn if it was conceived out of wedlock, so, yes, the Bible actually ORDERS abortion. Sorry, but it just plain does, and you know it. You are welcome to your religious belief. You truly are. I mean, there are people who will only have sex through a sheet with a hole in it. If that’s how they want to live their life, good for them, just don’t tell everybody else they have to live that way. It’s called “Mind your own business.” Legally forcing 10 and 12 year-old rape victims to carry babies to term isn’t religion, it’s cruelty, and it’s evil. You are not going to heaven because of standing up and saying “Good Lord, I forced a 10 year old rape victim to deliver a baby, so please let me in heaven.”
  15. Ok, well that’s just bullshlt. I sure wouldn’t vote for that. Although “non US citizen” does not necessarily mean illegal. You know that lots of people are here legally going through a multi-year citizenship process, right? I have Canadian friends who were going through citizenship and they were required to go to a center in New Mexico for a meeting. To get into the office for the meeting, they were told but a government official to go through a door to enter the building. Then they got a letter months later saying their daughter was going to be deported because she illegally crossed the U.S. Mexico border by walking through that door. Their daughter was only 13, and she solved the problem herself by writing to First Lady Laura Bush, who got the letter and called Homeland Security personally to fix their mess.
  16. So easy for you to say. Why do you think you live in a peaceful country? You don’t think your country bombed civilians to make it that way? Israel didn’t start this war.
  17. Where does it say that? https://www.haciendacdc.org/camino-a-casa They tell lies to get people agitated. They have shown no evidence that it’s true.
  18. Biden just signed off on $20 billion in weapons for Israel. Cause if 2,000 pound bombs won’t get Hamas to surrender, try 5,000 pound bombs.
  19. I’m afraid that it violates many principles of Christianity, and additionally, calling the downtrodden and poor “animals,” “not human”, “rapists” and “murderers” is particularly anti-Christian.
  20. I did not change the subject. If you’re Christian than be honest. Clement of Alexandria wrote of the equality of sexes. Nothing I saw in his works even mentions abortion. But even if it does somewhere, why focus on those writing and not his writings declaring the equality of the sexes?
