Nordstream Pipeline - Reichstag V2.0
Rebound replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Turkey does not border Russia. But That was over 60 years ago and not relevant. Among other things, the US has had Cruise missile technology since the 80's which can evade Russian radar and delivery a payload anywhere inside of Russia. So having missile bases in Ukraine or Turkey is no longer very important. -

Nordstream TWO! He is saying that US will not finance a SECOND pipeline which does not yet exist. Can you comprehend that? He is not threatening to end anyone's energy output, he is threatening to prevent their expansion, as he should. -

Which God? God? Or Allah? Or Jesus? Or Episcopalian Jesus? Or Mormon God? Or Vishnu? You think you know. You think you have it all figured out. But you don’t know. You don’t. If God himself came to Earth and performed miracles, odds are, you wouldn’t listen to Him. What do you call an atheist or agnostic who does good deeds? Who feeds the poor and helps others? The Bible tells you nothing about climate change. It also says very little about oil. The only answer the Bible has about climate change is that you are commanded to do good, and burning more petroleum in the face of disaster is not doing good. That is why I believe you would turn your back on God if He came to earth and performed miracles. You think you know, but you don’t know. -

Nord stream 2. Two. Unlike previous idiot President, this man is perfectly clear: IF Russian military invades Ukraine, the Nordstream TWO project will Be canceled. Trump would NEVER make a statement Iike this. He’d hem and haw and say crap like, “A lot of people are saying…” or “We’ll have to see how it plays out.” Not Biden. When Russia invaded Ukraine, he was very clear: America would send weapons and supplies, but no soldiers or any combat. Very clear. But, he added, IF Russian soldiers enter One Inch of NATO territory, the US military would respond with full force. You can agree or disagree with the policy, but it’s CLEAR. There’s nothing to “parse” or lip read, unlike Trump’s nonstop nonsense. -

You state that as if it is an immutable fact, without any explanation. And of all the energy sources, petroleum is the only one which is absolutely finite; it will run out. Wind, sun, and even nuclear power are effectively infinite. Hydro and geothermal are infinite but limited in capacity and availability. Fifty percent of the electricity in Iowa comes from wind. What happens if they double the number of windmills? Will they ever have a period of time with zero wind anywhere in the state? No, they will not. But we don’t need to eliminate fossil fuel use, only supplement it, and eventually reduce it. We’ll have cars and generators and especially airplanes consuming petroleum for another hundred years. -

So you agree that we ought to invest in new sources of everything production as fast as we can, right? Imagine if 90% of our energy came from wind and sun, and all cars were electric. The remaining oil-powered devices like jets would be really cheap to operate. Everyone would have plenty of power. We could build more factories more easily. -

Hey, remember when Covid was a thing, and then Delta variant showed up and killed millions? That was evolution. Evolution has been proven in labs many times. Ever eat a navel Orange? Evolution, from a lab. -

If you’re right, what is the evil in transitioning away from energy which props up dictatorships and makes us vulnerable to foreign domination? And, what if you’re wrong? -

Evolution may be rejected by many “scientists,” but not by actual scientists. Genesis says six days. But it does not say how long a day lasts to the Good Lord. If we take all of the known science in the world and apply it to evolution, what does it say? It says that in the beginning, the world was dark and formless, and then, there was light. You tell me, how do we distinguish between that and Genesis? They tell us the same thing, so why feel so offended and defensive about it? Accept the miracle! Does DNA exist? Does DNA replicate to form life? Yes, it’s an absolute fact. Does that mean there is no G-d? No. Does it mean the Bible is wrong? No. The Bible was the Lord’s message, written to primitive people. It didn’t need to explain physics or DNA or atomic particles, so it didn’t. And as we discover these things, we realize that they don’t disprove or even dispute the Bible. Science is not the enemy of religion, and religion should not make itself the enemy of science. You get in your car, start it up and drive. Why? Because Bible, or because Science? Why not accept both? People used to be killed if they thought the Earth rotated the Sun… but it does. And the Earth really isn’t flat. -

You are making no point here. The simple truth is that Al Gore was a policy-maker, not a scientist. The scientists are overwhelmingly clear on the issue. Forget About Global Warming. What matters is that America will not be competitive if we do not invest in a renewable energy infrastructure. It’s not just the environmental issues. Look at the impact that every war has on global petroleum prices. Imagine a future where that doesn’t happen. Where Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia have no leverage over the economies of the industrialized nations. Where fuel prices aren’t 20% of the budget of a family. Where truck drivers don’t spent $20,000 a month to fuel their trucks. Now imagine that China and Europe have that kind of energy, and we’re still buying oil. It’s like wooden ships going up against iron clads. We lose. The time to act is now, before China and Russia dominate us. -

Yes, there is an opposing side: The petroleum and coal industries. They have spent hundreds of millions to create doubt about climate change, because protecting the environment is bad for their business. They could have spent this money on the R&D that could make them energy technology leaders, but instead they wasted it on the old tech they’re pushing. If you look at any of the anti global warming “think tanks” like American Enterprise Institute, etc, you’ll find Exxon’s money. -
But… think about it. The conservatives over and over say, “Literally interpret the Constitution,” and “Do not judge on what the Constitution does not say.” For sure, the Constitution does not say that corporations have the rights of people. After all, a person can be put in jail, and a person can get the death penalty. Corporations cannot. And the Congress passed campaign finance laws. So then the SCOTUS shows up and says that the Constitution lets corporations anonymously spend all the money they want on political campaigns. Yeah… cause the Constitution says that? Uh, no, it does not.

THAT IS YOUR SOURCE. YOU CHOSE IT. THIS IS WHAT THEY SAY: ”The data clearly indicates global warming is happening and is human caused. “ http://ossfoundation.us/projects/environment/global-warming/myths What’s more, you obviously did not read the “31,000 scientists” article that you linked, which says, “To participate in the petition one only needs to mark a check box to show that one has a Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. degree, and then fill in the fields. Unfortunately, that means that anyone can sign the petition, whether they have a degree or not.” -

Evolution is fact. When the Good Lord created our world, evolution was His tool. It’s described precisely word for word in Genesis. But this has nothing to do with the climate. -

I think hydrogen’s problem is that it takes energy to produce it. Yes, the hydrogen reaction inside the car is “free” and it is perfectly clean-burning, but it takes tremendous energy to produce that hydrogen. But I admit I haven’t studied the chemistry to the extent I can calculate how many kW of energy is needed to product store and transport the hydrogen needed to create that many kW of electricity inside the car. -

That’s only true because you can’t read. If you could read, you’d know that the topic is that climate change is irrelevant to the need of the US to invest in alternate energy technologies in order to remain globally competitive. -

Except that it’s a lie. Cause that’s the conservative way: Corrupt, money-grubbing people who can defend their outrageous evil positions by concocting and spreading lies. The facts are never on the side of conservatives. But fear-mongers, conspiracy theorists, dictators, and mega-religious leaders all flock to conservatism, cause it’s a philosophy of lying.
