Are you just being picky about the words I used? I said, to make it clearer, that the government should bring in legislation to do this job and use the notwithstanding clause to keep the courts from throwing it out.

When you're not in charge of your own destiny you take what the big boys give you. The natives got pushed aside by a stronger nation, which is the story of the world throughout history going back to before written history began. They're now vastly outnumbered by those people who, unlike the indigenous tribes, did not exterminate those who were on the lands we took. There is no remedy for this other than to 'get over it'. They benefit from living in one of the world's few great, wealthy nations, far better off than their ancestors. The Palestinians were never a nation and after the Ottomans got beat the world divided the territory between them and the Jews. Tough noogies if they didn't like it. Those who stuck it out are leading better lives with more freedom than any of their Arab brethren in the surrounding countries. As for the rest... when a weak people make themselves annoyances to everyone else they're unlikely to be treated well or to prosper. Frankly, they don't deserve their own nation. The West Bank should go back to Jordan and trade the Jews on it for the Arabs in Gaza. Of course, Jordan no longer wants them, so they'd have to be bribed with a very big bundle of cash and incentives.

There are ways to ensure we get the best, like prioritizing applicable education and job skills and requiring would-be citizens get a job offer before letting them in. Prioritize couples who both have such skills over couples where only one has them. Prioritize those who are most willing and able to adapt their values to ours and integrate. And use the Notwithstanding clause to stop most immigrants at the borders, including putting those who land at airports from safe third countries or who tore up and flushed their documents on board right back on the plane they got off of.

Clearly we should be seeking the best, not people to work at Tim Hortons. Nor should we be admitting 146,000 'refugees' every year, most of whom have few or no job or language skills

No doubt the list would be different out west, or even up in northern Ontario. I know natives commit more crimes. That's because of the same reasons Black Americans commit more crimes. When you grow up in a small, impoverished area where there's lots of drug and alcohol abuse, lots of single-parent families made up of very young mothers and their children, and no jobs you can very easily drift into crime. That's even more so when you have very lax enforcement of laws for those with the proper skin pigmentation. But these are homegrown problems we need to deal with. We don't need to be importing more groups who will form impoverished slums and ghettos and then commit tons of crime.

We have a large and growing illegal migrant problem. And it's our own fault. We used to get two-thirds fewer asylum claimants, but Trudeau put an end to that when he both expanded the definition of what a refugee is and then broadcast to the world how welcoming we would be to anyone showing up as a 'refugee'. Every one of those now hundred thousand people a year has a phone and are all phoning home telling their relatives and friends to come on over because there is no law to stop them. Because there isn't. We have no way of removing illegal immigrants, or even finding them. We don't even have an organization to search for them. So to be clear, anyone can show up from anywhere and make a claim. They then have something like five years here to go through the bureaucracy of hearings and appeals (all at our expense). At the end of which they can make a new claim based on getting married, say, or having a kid here. Or, they can just shrug and continue to stay on without citizenship. Foreign communities are more than large enough now to let people work under the table. And there is a thriving market in fake documents. But most claims are accepted. Why not? The sympathetic liberals at the refugee board won't challenge someone who says they're gay or trans. And either is enough to get your claim accepted if you can claim you are oppressed in your home country. Hell, we just accepted two Japanese lesbians because they claimed they were discriminated against at home. Not oppressed, not persecuted, not threatened with jail or death, just discriminated against. So what are the odds they turn down a man who claims he's gay and being is from Iran? Or even Egypt? Or, say India? I expect at least 90% of the foreign workers and foreign students who aren't given citizenship to claim refugee status.

No, the reasons come from acknowledging the reality that letting in people from deeply misogynistic, homophobic, antisemitic countries with NO screening other than checking for crime records and to see if they're on a terrorist watch list is insane. Not only do they not fit in with our culture and values but they usually don't have the necessary job skills to ever earn sufficient income to pay for their own government services like healthcare. And since so many wind up poor, unable to earn much due to lack of job and language skills, they overflow jails and prisons. All of the foregoing is deeply politically incorrect to the left but none of it can be contradicted with facts.

Don't forget having your nation dismissed as illegal and not even a real nation, its entire history described as one long demonstration of racism, bigotry, and genocide.
