  1. You mean like this? Natalia Khanenko-Friesen, director of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, told the National Post that the red-and-black symbology for Ukraine long predates its adoption by extremist groups. Khanenko-Friesen noted that red-and-black banners can be seen in paintings depicting the Cossack Hetmanate, a period of Ukrainian Cossack rule that began in the 17th century. The black represents the Ukrainian soil, while the red symbolizes blood — although Khanenko-Friesen (a scholar of Ukrainian folklore) said it’s not traditionally understood as blood in any violent context. “Blood as life, as blossom, and not as blood lost in battles,” she said. Red and black remains a common colour scheme in traditional Ukrainian embroidery. You can pretend there wasn't white and blue in there before the far right guys got at it with their paintshop pro
  2. You guys seem persistent in your belief that anyone who doesn't share your fetish must have another one. But I don't swing left or right. I think the bunch of you are all crazy and your political beliefs are immature and poorly thought-out, to say the least.
  3. I see my folks are getting on
And I watch their bodies change
I know they see the same in me
And it makes us both feel strange
No matter how you tell yourself
It's what we all go through
Those lines are pretty hard to take
When they're staring back at you
Oh Oh Oh, scared you'll run out of time
When did the choices get so hard
With so much more at stake
    Life gets mighty precious
When there's less of it to waste

  6. If only we had learned that lesson about the Communists, too.
  7. Obama warned them too but The Trumpettes aren't about to dredge that up to show us what a smart guy he was.
  8. William Barr, who was Former President Donald Trump’s attorney general until the final months of his administration, appeared Friday to defend the Department of Justice’s decision to raid Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and seize thousands of records. “I think the driver on this from the beginning was loads of classified information sitting in Mar-A-Lago,” Barr said in a Fox News interview. “People say this was unprecedented, well, it’s also unprecedented for a president to take all this classified information and put them in a country club, okay?” Barr said. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/09/02/trump-ex-attorney-general-bill-barr-defends-fbi-search-of-mar-a-lago.html
  9. "What a worthless dipshit. He needs to have a stroke, and soon." Forgotten what you wrote in the opening post?
  10. Maybe I'm just confused, but didn't they previously have a FPTP system like us? Because after the first round of counting the Democrat had 40% of the vote to Palin's 31%. So no ranked ballots would have still given the seat to the Democrats.
  11. Maybe you should join the Canadian Conservative Party and vote in their upcoming leadership election. By mail-in ballot....
  12. Given the MAGA cult refuse to accept that an election was lost two years later despite no evidence to the contrary, despite major Republican figures and Trump loyalists telling them so, certainly makes them seem pretty extreme. Especially when they've spent the last two years desperately trying to get rid of the Republicans at the state level who were in charge of the elections and refused to cheat on Trump's behalf. And who have they replaced them with? MAGA people who deny the election in their own state was fair. And why? The only logical answer is they expect that come next election these new people will do what needs doing to push their guy over the top and not worry about stuff like laws or constitutions. I'd say extremist is a fair description.
  13. Without covid it would not have been so blindingly obvious to almost everyone how little interest Trump had in the health and welfare of Americans.
  14. Or perhaps 50 MRI machines to be distributed to hospitals across Canada.
  15. And you'll still have to pay it back somehow, or at least pay the ever rising minimum payments.
  16. I'm trying to imagine any context in which that's understandable, or at least something meant to be mildly amusing but I'm at a loss. Did you intend to write these specific words in this order?
  17. Well, a hundred million dollars for starters.
  18. Vote buying and virtue signaling. Trudeau's two favourite things. Oh, wait, and corruption. I wonder how many Liberal-friendly groups are in for a big payday out of this...
  19. You talk like the budget is balanced rather than Canada headed for its eighth straight deficit under Trudeau. And none of them, by the way, have been as small as the ten billion he promised to run for a single year.
  20. I have a great big surplus in my bank account, too. Of course, I haven't paid for the mortgage yet, or made the car payment, or paid for the cable/internet. So... whoopee? In other words, a 'surplus' in a partial calendar period is hardly of any interest given the Trudeau government is still headed for another large deficit. Besides, which, every time it looks like a bit more money is coming in, say due to higher oil prices, Justin Trudeau finds more ways to borrow more money so he can buy votes and popularity points.
  21. The Supreme Court has no overseer, no supervisor, and can decide anything they choose to decide on whatever basis pleases them. That includes deciding to hear or not hear a case. In essence, they have absolute power to do as they please. with regard to laws.
