  1. The word 'racist' gets thrown around a lot these days for things which really aren't racist. I will say this for the Tea Party types; They see minorities as their enemies because minorities mostly vote Democrat. They also have scant respect for anyone who needs government money for such things as welfare, medicaid, or even school lunches because that takes taxes and they don't want to pay taxes. And those people are disproportionately minorities. So all in, the Tea party types aren't very fond of Blacks or other minorities. Which is behind a lot of the new laws to make voting more difficult for poor people and blacks.
  2. You don't need to listen to the Democrats to know how weird the Tea Party types are. You only have to listen to the Tea Party types themselves. They started out of outrage at all the government money that went to propping up the banks back in the day, a kind of anti-corporate welfare group. Over the years money from corporate America has morphed them into a group fiercely defensive of corporate welfare and corporate America and despising anyone on the other side of the fence who dares to suggest regulations or higher taxes on corporate America. They are basically a bunch of not very smart people who have been herded and captured by corporate America. And a reasonably large percentage of them act like fruitcakes.
  3. Because most middle-class/upper middle class people work at jobs which already pay most of their prescription and dental costs. And upper class people certainly don't need the government's help. Even Wal-Mart covers most of your prescription costs. I know they cover some dental but not sure how much. The only people who don't already have prescription and dental coverage are those working for very small businesses, like independent restaurants or very cheap ones. Even MacDonalds does for full-timers.
  4. The people who want free dental care, pharmacare, guaranteed income, help with housing, etc. are largely not the people who have to pay income taxes. They also get their sales and carbon taxes refunded. Why WOULDN'T they call for more government programs?
  5. Regardless, that's who's begging on medians at traffick lights.
  6. That was last summer. And I should point out that the communities LEAST in favour of mandates and lockdowns were the ethnic communities who populate the suburbs and exurbs of Toronto and Vancouver.
  7. No. Oftentimes I'm discussing things with people who have an ability to communicate their views with sufficient clarity others can understand them. When I encounter those without that ability I naturally ask for clarification.
  8. Let's not forget immigration and our insane refugee system, both of which bring many individuals to this country with no ability to earn their living. During a thirty minute drive today I encountered no less than FIVE median beggars, four of which were women in hijabs all holding up signs saying they were refugees and their kids were hungry. How many of these people are wandering around the city begging for money anyway?
  9. You're saying everyone else knows what YOU mean when you talk about the 'unlawful control of the FBI'?
  10. I find no indication 'standard of living' is anything more than a subjective estimation, nor comparisons of year over year 'standard of living'.
  11. Well, she's been dead for some time but I suppose she couldn't do much worse than you have in answering my question.
  12. Trump has that information and could release it if he chose to.
  13. Yeaaaaahh, none of that is any more than dishonest or deceptive talking points given out by the far right media. What? In a year and a half? Trump appointed tons of people to the judiciary. Are they all corrupted already? Just like the guy he put in charge of the FBI? The judge who signed the warrant was appointed by a fairly shrill, Trump supporting Republican governor. And was it not Trump who fired his own secretary of justice for refusing to go after his political enemies? And then was it not Trump again who screamed angrily at his new and very loyal Secretary of Justice for telling the world there was no evidence of a stolen election?
  14. People have, in fact, managed to fake their way into medical institutions before. And I'm not sure we want the expense of having every hospital develop its own testing procedures and then implementing it. It could get quite complicated as each specialty would need different types of testing. https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/woman-who-posed-as-nurse-in-ottawa-sentenced-to-seven-years-1.5872340 https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-nursing-schools-cant-accommodate-increase-in-demand-at-time-when/#:~:text=Nursing schools across the country, getting out of the field. https://www.shemmassianconsulting.com/blog/medical-schools-in-canada#:~:text=There's a myth that Canadian,36 percent. Every time I see or read or hear a nurse complaining her issue is the hours and working conditions, not the money. The union wants more money. The nurses want to work a regular shift and be hired on permanently somewhere. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/an-alarming-exodus-ontario-nursing-sector-slammed-with-staffing-shortage-as-many-rethink-careers-1.5522610
  15. Now you see here if you actually had the confidence of your convictions you'd reply with examples of his patriotism. But you can't. So all you're left with is telling me to stop talking because you don't want to have to think.
  16. The government authorizes the addition of more nursing and medical school positions, as they recently did in Ontario. The government also authorizes any expansion in hospital residencies, again, as they recently did in Ontario. Naturally. But that is not the real issue. Nurses get paid nicely. The real issue is working hours and that hospitals not only insist they work long hours but won't hire permanently if they can avoid it.
  17. And how good is their English? And where exactly did they graduate from? And is that institution any good? Is their degree even real? Do you not think a certain amount of testing is in order here? This is not true. They ARE lined up to get into the medical professions. The problem has been that the medical and nursing schools can only accept as many students as the government tells them they can, and the government(s) have been restricting the numbers for many years. Some of them, certainly. From what I've heard from nurses their big issue is the hours. For doctors the big issue is all the paperwork. Perhaps fix these two issues.
  18. Why? Record unemployment not a good thing? Cutting the deficit not a good thing? No one with much knowledge of economics can blame Biden for supply chain issues related to covid and the sudden return to normality in most of the world. The return of real-world oil prices from the bottomless pit covid drove them into was also not Biden's fault. Clearly he had no plan. He reacted rather than acted. He didn't even make any real attempt at a new border wall or fence until after the Democrats had taken away his majority in the congress. Anything he did do was merely delaying things. There is no solution for the border which doesn't involve congress agreeing to amend the laws on asylum. The Republicans didn't do it when they had the majority and neither have the Democrats. There is certainly some truth in that. I also think identity politics and the knee-jerk reaction to Trump has caused a fracturing in the Democratic party about protecting the border. To their left wing it's now become 'racist' to stop people crossing the border, or to arrest and return those who came illegally. Why? In recent years? He's only been president for two. Those agents will be targeting those who make over $400k per year. If that's average working Americans I wish I was one.
  19. He appears to be a respectable, responsible person, and likely would have been a supreme court judge had McConnel not played games with the appointments. Certainly not Trump.
  20. What does this have to do with Trump taking top secret documents and then refusing to return them when repeatedly asked?
  21. There's no evidence Trump cares about anything BUT his bank account. The man might put on a show of humping the flag in front of an audience but he's never shown any sign of patriotism up until he became a politician. He and his company had no issue with hiring illegal aliens or contracting work out to China, for example. Apparently not.
  22. Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others.
