The King is our head of state. His function as King of Canada is completely separate from his function as King of the UK. It's clearly spelled out in our constitution. Same as Australia and New Zealand. It's odd and it's unique but having a non political head of state, separate from government is a good thing in my opinion. Having Charles open Parliament will send a reminder to Trump and Americans how we are different and why.
