  1. How convenient. The feds absolutely have jurisdiction over maritime affairs. They can also set conditions to financing. I'm not pointing fingers at the Maritimes, just pointing out your sense of entitlement that you are due something other Canadians are not for the same service and that they should pay to provide it for you. As a British Columbian I would love to see you guys get pipelines and terminals but it is not our fault if you can't or our responsibility to get you one.
  2. Something so small? Tell that to the people who have to commute regularly between the Island and mainland. Tell them that they are paying 9 cents less for a two hour ferry ride than a Maritimer is for a 7 hour ride and their tax dollars are helping pay for it. If you want a LNG terminal in New Brunswick, get a pipeline built. Do you want us to do everything for you? And don't tell me the feds wouldn't pump at least as much money into one if you do. BTW. If you take the bridge to PEI and leave by the ferry, you don't pay for the ferry. Who pays for that?
  3. You are just pissed because Carney won't bend the knee to Trump, which is what you really want so you can shit on him for doing it.
  4. All bullshit and not backed up by the posts you make.
  5. Right and that is fixing stuff. Why don't you concentrate on your own country. What happens when you go somewhere else and can't "fix" that? Find another place to "fix". You want Carney to fail so much you don't care how much your country is damaged in the process. The irony. It must be tough for Canadian MAGA's to admit that if Harris had won the US election, PP would be heading a majority government today. PP is not popular among a majority of mainstream Canadians, he was just less unpopular than JT. I don't know if Carney was the right choice or not. We'll see but I hope he was because we are stuck with him. If you had any brains, you would hope so too.
  6. Sure you would. All you do here is whine.
  7. You can fcuk off to the US as well. Trump needs another dick sucker. You two could live anywhere and it wouldn't be long before you would be whining about something.
  8. FFS, how much money do the feds put into things they have no jurisdiction over? They put money wherever they feel like it. They do it wherever they think it will buy them votes, or not lose them votes. One coast gets its ferries paid for by all Canadian tax payers, the other has to pay for its own. Maybe we should have to pay for our own goddamn navy as well. BTW. Shipping is a federal jurisdiction, just like aviation.
  9. SFU School of Public Policy https://docs2.cer-rec.gc.ca/ll-eng/llisapi.dll/fetch/2000/90464/90552/548311/956726/2392873/2449925/2451209/2586850/C352-6-2_-_TOL_IR_No._2_Attachment_%231_Economic_Costs_and_Benefits_-_A4G5V7.pdf?nodeid=2586628&vernum=-2
  10. Alberta resources to tidewater. These are capital projects. How much have the feds spent on them in the Maritimes, Ontario and Quebec. Billions for battery and auto plants. How much are the destroyer and patrol ship contracts worth to the Maritimes. This is about one coast that thinks it is entitled to have all of Canada pay for its ferry system and enjoy fares half as much as the other coast that has to provide its own. Eby isn't asking for you to give up anything, he is just asking for fair treatment.
  11. God your constant whining is tiresome. I don't know how you can stand living here.
  12. The TMX was built for Alberta and owned by the Federal Government. It provides few jobs for BC and even a lot of the construction jobs were filled by Albertans because they have the expertise when it comes to building pipelines. Tax breaks are not grants because where would be no taxes if the projects aren't built. There will be lots of tax revenues from income taxes, GST etc paid by employees, suppliers and support businesses.
  13. There's the school child tantrum again. Play my way or I'll take my marbles and go home.
  14. Then f*ck off to America. The rest of us will look after Canada.
  15. This guy is not a Canadian, he has no right to enter Canada. When you go to someone else's country you are their guest, so act like one.
  16. It's in their statements. I fully support Israels right to exist but they have been making it damn difficult lately.
  17. California provides just over 14% of US GDP with 11% of the population. BC provides just under 14% of Canadian GDP with 12% of the population. So ya, BC is Canada's California.
  18. I'm in favour of trying to provide equal services throughout the country but not subsidizing Maritimers so they can pay half as much as I have to pay for the same service. Where does the money come from to lower fares, certainly not the federal government that bankrolls Marine Atlantic for the Maritimes. From BC taxpayers of course, the same people who are helping subsidize Maritimer's fares.
  19. PEI is a great little spot, Charlotteown is a beautiful little city but does a place with the same population as Abbotsford BC need the expense and complexity of a complete provincial apparatus?
  20. Right now it costs 9 cents more for a person to take their car on the 7 hr ride from Sidney to Port aux Basques than it does to take the 1 hr 35 minute ride from the BC mainland to Victoria. The 7 hr ride from Prince Rupert to Haida Gwaii costs over 2.5 times as much. BC taxpayers are helping subsidize that.
  21. Why should the people of the wealthier provinces be subsidizing the poorer ones so their people can pay half as much for the same service. At least they should be equal.
  22. One more thing. While the agreement can be implemented provisionally, it doesn't become official until it is ratified by every EU member, which could be years or not at all. Meaning the EU isn't really binding itself to anything until that happens. Canada's agreement was implemented provisionally in 2017 but still hasn't been ratified by every member so the EU could back out at any time.
  23. I really don't see much of a market for US cars in Europe. They will sell a few more but not that many. Not only do they not build vehicles Europeans want (not much of a market for full size pickups) Trump tariffing the crap out of the materials required to build them sure won't help them compete on price.
  24. I'm not into forcing anything or not supporting other provinces but I reject the idea that we can't at least look at or discuss the possibility that there might be better ways of doing things. That goes for the whole country, not just the Maritimes. I'm well aware of the Maritimes importance in the formation of this country and the fact that things like ship building and fishing made them some of the wealthiest provinces at the time, but times change. Interestingly, BC joined Confederation two years before PEI.
  25. The ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert is 16 hrs and the fare is $460 for a car plus $200 per passenger, one way. The ferry from Prince Rupert to Skidegate on Haida Gwai is 7 hrs. What's your point? How many federal dollars did we get for the gas pipeline and plant? Enlighten me. The companies got a loan from the EDC, not a grant and I know the province gave a shit load of tax incentives to get them built, plus $200 million for electrification.
