There is so much you don’t know it’s impossible to have a conversation with you. It’s like trying to explain am advanced calculus problem to someone who can’t even add and subtract. Here the Coles notes version USA heavily subsidizes US milk, Canada doe not USA completely BANS - not tariffs, BANS - foreign milk above a set import quota Canadian tariffs for milk that is above the import quota starts at 5% and then goes up from there But nobody imports above the quotas because we produce enough milk at home so nobody is paying the tariff At least you could pay the tariff and import the milk if you wanted to, unlike in USA where doing so would make you a criminal American farmers also dump milk when demand drips or when they decide the current price doesn’t make it worthwhile to sell it. . It’s part of dairy farming because cow udders don’t come with a off switch

LMAO This whole thread is just another example of how you simple minded MAGA cultists can’t think critically and are so easily misled. Once again we see why Trump said “I love the poorly educated” because high school dropouts like yourself are so easy to fool Let’s be clear: These allegations conflate and misrepresent what the intelligence community actually concluded. They do nothing to disprove the January 2017 findings that Russia launched an influence and hacking campaign to help Donald Trump and undermine Hillary. Gabbard is trying to use intelligence assessments on two different topics; the first was stating that no voting systems (“election infrastructure”) were breached, which she uses to falsely make a broader leap that a Russian influence and cyber campaign did not occur which is what the January 2017 assessment proved actually happened Any intelligent person can see even at a glance these are 2 different topics amd remember the January 2017 findings which were discussed at length. Once again the MAGAverse shows it has the memory of a goldfish and an IQ to match

False. HSBC (Honk Kong/UK), ICICI (India)offered personal banking and have for years, RBC’s recent acquisition of HSBC notwithstanding. ING bank was dutch before it was acquired by Scotia and rebranded Tangerine. Otherwise foreign owned banks that off personal banking in Canada include: Bank of China KEB Hana (Korea) State Bank of India The big American banks are all here and collectively have over $1.5 trillion in assets but focus on lending, investment and commercial finance with some offering a few limited personal banking options. There is no law barring thes banks from expanding the market is simply difficult to penetrate, people tend to stick with banks they know and the Canadian banks and credit unions are well established for almost 200 years in some cases. Same rules in USA regarding foreign airlines. And quite frankly I don’t want the US-controlled putting ours out of business. What about it? Huh? Look at howTrump is trying to weaponize US economic influence over Canada to harm us. What kind of lunatic wants MORE of that? We need LESS of that. Id be ok with a European telco setting up shop if that improves the market. You do need big players to make the big capital investments though. You’re not going to have the latest coast to coast to coast high speed internet and cell data if your market is made up of a dozen small companies each with a tiny sliver of the market. Even USA it’s dominated by just a few

LMAO now who is lying? PP is not a “world renowned politician” what a joke He’s an UNKNOWN domestic politician, a NOBODY. How on earth would he be world renowned when he has zero accomplishments to his name, only been opposition leader for a hot minute and was junior member of a government that was voted out a decade ago? Has he even been outside of Canada on any official business? What a ridiculous statement, just shows your absolute delusion. That’s a lie Of course he did, he says that about a lot of people . But any thinking person can see that wasn’t his intention. LMAO you have to be 27 different flavours (nice American spelling by the way) of stupid NOT to see that. Omg please stop I am laughing so hard the opposite-of-reality commentary coming from you is just absolutely hilarious. I’ve called out before how you like to pretend things that are 99% identical are completely different and things that 0.01% remotely similar are identical just suit your political agenda. PP s entire election and party leadership campaigns were a rip off of Trump slogans and policies from hyping crypto to reversing the ban on plastic straws to pledging “anti-woke” and “anti-DEI” crusades to his “Canada First” slogan to having policies “in sync” with Trump. No twisting required. Carney is exactly like Trump because he signed a document in front of cameras LMAO ok pal sure that’s not twisting things. Just Hilarious.

As Conservative columnist Andrew Coyne recently wrote: “Once upon a time there was a village menaced by a giant ogre. The villagers met to decide how to respond. “We must give him what he wants,” said one of the villagers. “Then he will go away.” “No,” said another. “We must respond with purpose and force.” In the end the villagers tried a little of both approaches. Neither succeeded, because the ogre didn’t really know what he wanted and didn’t respond rationally. So they just had to muddle through. THE END …As entertaining as it is to watch the famously smooth Mr. Carney flailing about, it is hard to see how any other prime minister would have done any better. Indeed, he is in good company. The whole world is dealing with similar threats. It is, in fact, impossible to negotiate with Mr. Trump, because a) he does not have any consistent or coherent set of demands, and b) if he did, there is no reason to think he would live up to any undertaking he made in return. …It’s possible his attraction to tariffs has another basis: because they place him at the centre of the action. Everyone has to pay attention to him – to be “nice” to him, as he so often puts it. If so there is not much that anyone can really do with that. There is no “win-win,” as in most negotiations. There is only a problem to be managed, a matter of stalling for time and presenting as small a target as possible, until Mr. Trump grows too old or enfeebled to menace us further.” https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/article-mark-carney-donald-trump-tariff-negotiations/

No you’re lying. As a point of fact he never said he “wanted Carney in.“. That’s an outright lie from you. First the public started mocking Trump after be cost Poilievre what had been a guaranteed win. The media reported it as an “own goal”. Then AFTER THE FACT when questioned by the media he basically said “Uh I did that purpose.” Because of course what else would he say? He’s a compulsive liar who never admits his mistakes. Literally the ENTIRETY of your argument is 100% based on taking Trump at his word and dismissing all other facts and reality. It’s ridiculous. LOL you’re way too partisan and biased see anything clearly and fairly You see what you want to see, and you incapable of an impartial assessment You are not even able to articulate what a “good deal “ would be are you? LMAO nope that’s the definition of MAGAs who are literally destroying the global economy for no other reason than to obey their orange master. And up here you’re using any opportunity to sow division because your guy didn’t win the election
-
LMAO ridiculous. Carney has world-class credibility who is known, liked and respected by heads of state around the world and he has the resume to prove it in both the public and private sector. Meanwhile Poilievre is a Trump admiring, Trump imitating, literal nobody on the world stage, a career domestic politician with zero experience or credibility dealing with foreign leaders, zero business acumen, zero economic background, and zero record of having done anything meaningful other than childish insults of anyone who disagrees with him and calling them communist. His proposal to dealing with Trump was that we should double down on vulnerability to USA instead in the hope to gain American approval instead of pivoting away. Basically it was the equivalent of an abused girlfriend saying she’s gonna deal with her cheatn bean man by sucking his dick so good he will never mistreat her again. And he back-channeled through Danielle Smith that he was “in sync” with Trump policies. Even after the Trump tariffs PP tried keep the election about being anri-woke and anti-Trudeau )both near and dear to Trump) not about standing up to Trump It’s obvious to anyone that Trump’wanted conservatives and he’s hyped conservatives in the past. Trump lies with every word he breathes. He only attempted to claim he wanted Carney to win AFTER the press started mocking him for the anti-Teump backlash amd how he scored an own goal. Of course Trump is going to lie amd say he did it on purpose . Any intelligent person can see it makes ZERO sense that Trump would want Carney over Poilievre.

As I said already he didn’t lie and Canada isn’t doing worse than other countries. Like I said Trump’s Canada-specific tariffs only apply to a shrinking sliver of Canadian trade that is non-CUSMA compliant. So you’re exaggerating. The tariffs that are affecting Canada the most are the ones against steel and auto which apply to the entire world

Alberta surpasses all of the United States in confirmed measles cases Alberta has surpassed the United States in confirmed measles cases, after 30 new cases were diagnosed over the weekend. Once declared eradicated in Canada in 1998, measles has made a comeback, spreading rapidly in recent months due to declining vaccination rates. https://globalnews.ca/news/11287924/alberta-measles-july-14-2025/ Way to go right wing nutjobs. I hear you guys are trying to bring back Polio too. What’s next? Typhoid? Tuberculosis?

Surely you understand the PM doesn’t control provincial laws. First ministers have been meeting every month and a lot of provinces have signed agreements with each other to identify and remove barriers. who said that and when? Link please Link please No he did not say anything remotely like relationships form overnight LOL love to hear the altered reality through conservative filters. He said no country is getting off without any tariffs and it’s unrealistic to think Canada would be any different….something everyone already understood. He never said he couldn’t get a “good deal” or that we would get a “bad deal” or that he’s giving up on anything. Admit it no matter what “deal” is made you will call it a “bad deal” even if it’s a 0.00001% tariff on 0.00001% of trade you’ll call it a bad deal and say he caved Carney has been very clear: he will take all the time necessary to get the best deal possible for Canada but no longer. Only the American people will out a stop to Trump’s tariffs and the solution is pivot away from US Aamd develop our own economy
-
Yeah and? You’re misrepresenting that to claim he said he would force Trump to abandon all tariffs without making any concessions in return, which he never said. False on 2 counts. He said he would end federal barriers to trade by July 1 and he did. That bill was passed on June 20. Several provinces have signed agreements with each other to remove provincial barriers and most others are actively working towards it. But it’s not like waving a magic wand where they all just disappear overnight. The “anti-pipeline” bill you’re referring to doesn’t need to be removed because the One Canada bill passed in June with vocal support from Poilievre and conservatives gives cabinet the power to ignore any element of it. And federal/provincial governments are not just waiting and hoping for someone to out forward plans, they’re out there working industry on plans to bring forward. Canada has fared better than most countries actually. We weren’t hit with any “liberation day” tariffs, the steel, aluminum copper and auto tariffs apply to the entire world, and the only tariffs specifically applicable to Canada, the so-called fentanyl tariffs are reduced to only to non-CUSMA compliant trade which is only a small fraction of our trade (~15% according to some) and will only get smaller as a lot of that trade actually IS CUSMA compliant but exporters/importers don’t bother to fill out the paperwork. Yeah Axworthy wants him to be more scrappy but that’s easy to say from the sidelines when it’s not your skin in the game. With hundreds of billions of dollars in trade at stake, Carney has to show industry he’s making a good faith effort to be the adult in the room and negotiate, even if everyone knows in the end it may be mostly pointless against such an unstable nihilist. He may only be able to make a difference at the margins but with so much at stake even small differences matter. No he didn’t. This is true, but to my earlier comments about showing good faith effort knowing success would be limited to marginal improvement at best There are no lies or “obvious incompetence” and the nobody is playing partisan politics even PP is watching his tongue for a change. Any damage done to this economy is done by the malign actor, Trump. Let’s make that clear. At this early stage we still have to go through the act of negotiating in good faith as everyone else is doing UK, EU, Australia, Japan, etc. We may shave a couple points off a tariff here or there or get TACO Trump to push the deadlines back again. But as every intelligent adult knows no matter who is PM or what they do, the end will only come when Americans start demanding an end to the tariffs and Canada has pivoted away from USA. US midterms are only 15 months away, Trump’s tariffs by executive order are technically illegal and in violation of Congress insofar as they violate trade agreements ratified by congress like USMCA. Congress not the president has sole authority to regulate trade and impose tariffs but slime-ball Republicans control congress and House Speaker Mike Johnson has sole authority to decide the legislative agenda and refuses to out tariffs on the agenda. We will see how that works out for Republicans next year, they might have to dust off their “the election was stolen” lies when all the Americans they’ve screwed over vote them out.

It’s snot true that we don’t allow foreign financial institutions, they are everywhere just look around We obviously allow foreign airlines on international routes We do allow foreign phone providers but any telco with 10% or more of the market must be majority Canadian owned with majority of directors being Canadian citizens We do allow foreign cheese its just restricted But did you know the US also restricts all these same industries?

WestJet & Sunwing -Airlines in Canada
BeaverFever replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I haven’t had too many bad experiences with airlines. Just one a couple of years ago with American Airlines out of Cancun when the flight was delayed nearly 7 hours because a flight attendant went over her hours and they didn’t have a backup and then the connection out of Texas Sunwing also had a reputation as the white trash airline, always in the news for having to make emergency diversions due to drunk passengers fighting, assaulting the crew, trying to smoke in the bathroom and so on. Although the one time I flew it I had no issues. -
You can say all you want how you hate liberals think they’re wrong etc. But as I just finished pointing out on another thread, the word “cultist” doesn’t apply to anyone except Trump worshippers. I know you low education MAGA types don’t pay a lot of attention to the meaning of words…or anything else for that matter. For you guys one insult is just as good as another there’s no more meaning to it. Usually you just copy whatever criticism we’ve aptly applied to you. We called out the “alt right” so suddenly you started saying “alt left” but can’t describe what that is. Now you’re stealing cultist which has no accurate use even by exaggeration to anyone except trump followers. Now enough of your shitpost troll thread.

No many if not most of these were at immigration court houses. People applying for refugee status for example. Julio David Pérez Rodríguez was a Cuban national applying for refugee status at the Miami immigration courthouse when he was snatched for example : ”Pérez Rodríguez is one of dozens of immigrants caught in similar dragnets drawn in cities around the country since last week, as the reality of President Donald Trump’s mass deportation operation penetrates further into American families' consciousness. Many of those who saw loved ones handcuffed and taken away had accompanied their family members to ongoing immigration processes seeking asylum or hoping to make a case before a judge to stave off deportation, a legal process long afforded to immigrants and spelled out for immigration judges in court practice manuals. The arrests are happening immediately after immigration cases are dismissed or closed, leading some people to express joy, give thanks in prayer or celebrate, only to have all that replaced by sorrow, fear and anger, as they are handcuffed and taken into custody, said Billy Botch, an observer who works for the American Friends Service Committee Florida, a social justice nonprofit formed by Quakers.” https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna209671

Lol are you serious? The hundreds of people who have been snatched up detained and deported without ever seeing the inside of a courtroom. The poster boy being Kilmar Abrego Garcia, sent off to that El Salvador House of Horrors his dictator buddy is running for him. Are you so deep in your propaganda hole you’ve not heard of him? Trump even had his minions photoshop gang tattoos on a picture of the guy and showed it on TV so he could claim the guy was a gang member. Amd the international students snatched up and deported as well. None of these people are getting a day in court. The Trump admin is even publicly doubling down saying people subject to removal aren’t entitled to due process. It’s a redo of the war on terror when Republicans were basically saying people accused of terrorism shouldn’t have the right to a fair trial And back then just as now republicans delighted with sadistic glee over news of people being tortured and waterboarded at GITMO and in the Abu Ghraib house of horrors where hundreds of innocent Iraqis were tortured You don’t know what you’re talking about and you’re clearly not thinking through your responses. Why would these illegals be showing up at the courthouse in the first place if their intention is to break the law and they have no case? These are people who are trying to follow the rules, they overstayed a visas because they have paperwork issues, maybe they missed a deadline or submitted the wrong forms and they applying for extensions. Or they’re asking to stay on compassionate grounds because they’re caring for someone who can’t look after themselves and so on. I mean they’re snatching people up RIGHT AFTER they finish speaking to a judge who told them they were free to leave without detention. Due process means a fair trial and they are not getting that.

By any definition of the word cultist, it can only be applied to Trump worshipers. They worship the man as a deity and remake their entire reality around his utterances. They believe he has near-supernatural levels of genius, that he knows more about the military than career generals despite being a draft dodger who has never served a day in his life. They believe he knows more about microbiology and virology than career scientists despite not having read so much as a medical pamphlet and his stunningly stupid comments about injecting disinfectant…to the point they take dangerous untested drugs and horse medications based on his reckless tweets They attacked the Capitol Building when he legitimately lost the election and they believe all sorts of far-fetched unrealistic batshit conspiracies in order to maintain their delusion You believe someone is a cultist if they DON’T worship Trump, but that’s not how that word works, it shows you’re the real cultist It is ridiculous, no other political leader in western history, not even the massively popular ones, have amassed such a mob of mindless unquestioning devotees. .

What due process? The whole criticism is that there’s no due process they are just detained and removed without trial. I didn’t lie, I reacted to what a MAGA user on here posted. Not my fault the MAGA missed critical details as they are known to do. As for the ICE snatch-ups of people when they dutifully show up to immigration court to plead their case, that’s a perfect example of denial of due process and the celebration of that cruelty theatre that’s another example of the fascist mentality. I mean this administration posted an “ASMR video” of human beings being shackled and herded like terrorist POWs. If you’re not familiar, ASMR is a genre of video where sounds are enhanced and attuned to generate “autonomous sensory meridian response,” which a pleasant physical sensation triggered by certain sounds…in this case the rattle of chains of shackled human beings The cruelty and dehumanization is publicly encouraged and displayed as a sadistic point of pride.
