Anecdotally there also seem to be some who dropped out of the labour force voluntarily: they quit or lost their job during the pandemic and have just decided they are not going back to work, they are stay-at-home parents or went back to school or otherwise just realized that they and their spouse can more happily live on just one working income, things like that. There is an engineered recession coming though, because the economy is too hot and prosperous, which is driving inflation. So central banks are raising interest rates until the economy cools and contracts a little.
