US Supreme Court strikes down Roe V. Wade
BeaverFever replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Lmao you’re ridiculous. 1) suggesting Democrat voters are actually anti-choice 2) suggesting that giving people a choice instead of forbidding them to make their own choice is “forcing policy” on them. Most Republican voters don’t want abortion banned almost entirely like it is in Indiana now. Kansas shows that. -
Hilarious. Trump’s appointees were a rogues gallery of hacks, grifters, rejects from other past Republican campaigns, wife-beaters and Russia-colluders, many of whom ended up with criminal charges and convictions. People came and went from the Trump administration almost daily, either quitting or resigning in disgrace due to one misdeed or another. Tell me about how Omarosa was such a great appointee.

No a general election is not the same as voting on a single issue and the Republican voters are not going to suddenly vote Democrat just because they disagree with the abortion law their party elites forced on them. -
Republican Crooks and Perverts

Another day another Republican fascist trying to undermine elections. And shocker he’s not only an entrenched swamp creature whose been pulling political string for years! He actually belongs to a fascist law enforcement society that falsely claims Sheriffs are above all laws offices, not subject to governors or Presidents or the courts and have full discretionary authority to interpret and apply laws and the constitution as they please Florida sheriff accused of pressuring candidates to drop races, endorse his picks TITUSVILLE — A third candidate for public office has come to forward to say a sheriff on Florida’s Space Coast offered help in getting a job in exchange for leaving a race and backing his favored candidate TITUSVILLE — A third candidate for public office has come to forward to say a sheriff on Florida’s Space Coast offered help in getting a job in exchange for leaving a race and backing his favored candidate. https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2022/08/10/florida-sheriff-accused-of-pressuring-candidates-to-drop-races-endorse-his-picks/?outputType=amp Constitutional Sheriff’ Wayne Ivey says he’s a patriot. Others see something more menacing. Researchers see rise of 'Constitutional Sheriffs' as threat to democracy. Lawmen say they are its defenders. Ivey is one of at least five Florida sheriffs with overt ties to the Constitutional Sheriffs movement. A foundational belief of the movement is the notion that sheriffs stand above the courts, above the president of United States and other authorities in interpreting the meaning of the many provisions of the U.S. Constitution. Simply put, they say, sheriffs are the ultimate authority on what is and what is not constitutional, allowing them to interpret and implement the law as they see fit. https://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/local/2021/07/22/constitutional-sheriff-wayne-ivey-right-wing-law-enforcement-ideology/5093231001/ -

That’s not the same thing and you know it. -
Donald Trump, 2016: “Taking the Fifth, I think it's disgraceful. The mob takes the Fifth! If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?" Donald Trump, under criminal investigation in 2022: Pleads The Fifth “I declined to answer the questions under the rights and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution."

And therefore Republicans will never put the issue to a popular vote, they simply decree what they want and force it on the public. -

So all democracy is “pandering”. Spoken like a true fascist. The ignorant masses don’t know what’s good for them. -
The FACTS are: 1) The cops LIED on the search warrant and have all been fired and/or arrested either for lying on the warrant, their conduct during the raid, and/or their attempts to cover up events afterward 2) There is NO EVIDENCE to support any of the cops unproven claims of Breonnas involvement in any criminal activity (these unproven claims are what you wrongly call “facts”) 3) Breonnas family received millions in settlement money 4) The charges against Breonnas bf who returned fire on police were thrown out You got nothing but unproven evidence-free accusations that contradict the available evidence, and conspiracy theories. Typical Republican.

Just in case anyone thought that Handmaid’s Tale-style misogyny and racism were only a feature of American conservatives, the Alberta UCP wants you to know we can have it in Canada too. They awarded an essay encouraging women to stay at home and have babies and actually giving those who do medals - MEDALS! But of course they’re refusing to admit it publicly or provide details on how this could have happened: The Her Vision Inspires contest invited women aged 17 to 25 to submit essays in February describing their ideas for the province and what they would do if they were a member of the legislative assembly. It awarded third prize to an essay that references a far-right white-nationalist theory that white populations with low birth rates are being replaced by non-white immigrants through mass migration.…Silver’s entry argued women are “not exactly” equal to men, and the idea that they should try to break into careers traditionally dominated by men is “misguided” and “harmful.” https://edmontonjournal.com/news/politics/prize-winning-sexist-racist-essay-should-not-have-been-chosen-alberta-associate-minister/wcm/27151dbb-8c5d-4a21-bdcc-a5ee9b93eaa9/amp/

Democrats are in trouble because America is a fundamentally corrupt failing state for which both parties are historically to blame. The new Republican fascism is the symptom, not the disease itself. Democrats probably can’t save the country even if they truly wanted to because as individuals they are also creatures of America’s sick political system where to accomplish even one good thing you have to cut deals to do 5 evil things. Ultimately whether Republican or Democrat they are all still self-serving politicians beholden to special interests, corporate donors are back-room deals and that means the only direction for America is downhill. Republicans just want to get to the bottom faster and land harder.
