Orange Oaf Just Can't Keep His Mouth Shut
blackbird replied to herbie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Trump did his practiced rant just for the benefit of Carney. Of course he knows there are hoards of undecided voters in Canada and especially Quebec that will be scared at the slightest provocation from the Orange man and will vote Liberal. He knows Carney Liberals are an easier mark to deal with than the Conservatives. Trump is just giving Carney the final push over the finish line. If ever there was election interference this is it. It is overwhelming interference of the worst kind. China could never match this guy. -
He is still a Trudeau type Liberal. "Canada has one of the worst ratios of income to housing costs among the 29 member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. The average cost of rent has doubled across Canada over the past decade. Just to purchase an average home in Canada you’d need a minimum income of $150,500 to afford the mortgage, and the median household income is $124,672. But the houses just aren’t there." Terry Glavin: Canada's doomsday scenario is already here, no need to wait until 2040 Carney talks about building houses, but what are his plans to make housing affordable? If one needs an income of $150,500 to afford a mortgage, and the home prices are not brought down, who is going to be able to afford a home? Carney said nothing about this. The Liberal's ideology resulted in housing prices rising to astronomical levels the last ten years. Their ideology is still the same. It is a disaster for Canadians.

Nope. Carney is a globalist, WEF, UN, carbon tax, war on climate change type of Liberal. Canada has thousands of tent encampments with open drug use and crime rampant. Carney is just another same old Liberal and all of his crew are the old Liberals who worked for and with Trudeau. No change. The mess will continue with Carney.... crime, catch and release criminals, tent cities, lack of affordable housing, rising food prices, increasing use of food banks, and squandering billions on the third world.

Canada is a joke on the world stage. Trudeau made Canada look ridiculous.

Why not just stop throwing plastic into waterways and nature? Why not put it all in recycle bins and recycle it? We need to be cleaning up the oceans and waterways and removing any plastic. It would be pretty hard to ban all plastics. We have countless things we need it for. What about all the plastic bottles we use for water, pop, juices, and countless things? What about the plastic bags we use for food and many things? It would make more sense to just recycle it all instead of trying to ban things that we need. The Liberals and left's idea of banning plastic straws will accomplish nothing. What about the tons of other plastic things used for countless purposes? They didn't ban them. It was all show to garner votes much like their fake war on climate change.

Wow, were we ever fortunate. Went on Friday afternoon. They had five or six lines in the gym with each line in front of certain alphabetical letters referring to the first letter of the voter's last name. My letter/line had nobody lined up while some other lines had ten or fifteen people lined up. So it only took a few minutes and we were out of there. Very fortunate since in some cities I saw on the news there long lineups down the street.

That's a very broad baseless claim. It's easy to make false broad claims. Putin does it all the time. So does Trump.

Sounds like you have extreme bias. You are not willing to listen to all sides of a story.

Looking forward to plastic straws again. They are clean, smooth and don't crumble like paper straws. Whoever forced paper straws on people should be locked up. They are garbage. They get soggy, absorb moisture and fall apart. The problem is with the system of disposal. They should always be put in a recycling bin and never dumped into waterways or on land. They should all be recycled. That's all there is to it.

It's simple but I don't think you understand. Government don't give them for no reason. Subsidies are given for specific reasons. Reasons include the creation of many well-paying jobs in the energy industry and thousands of spin-off jobs. Generating tax revenue and royalties brings in vast amounts of money. Providing lower cost oil and gas to other industries and to the consumers. If it were not for subsidies of various kinds the costs to the consumers would be higher.
-
Do you really think forcing industries to spend a large part of their income on carbon capture and storage is going to save the planet or affect the climate? Who ends up paying for all this madness in the end? The consumer of course. This is one of the main reasons Canada does not achieve its potential.

Instead of banning plastics, which is a very difficult proposition when you consider bags and packing material, etc., why not stop dumping plastic into waterways. Who is actually dumping it all into the rivers, streams and oceans? That is where the government should be concentrating its efforts. Plastic should only go into recycling bins. It doesn't need to be banned. If it is all collected, it can then be melted down and recycled. Concentrate on stopping people from dumping into the environment. Simple.

" A Catholic in Name Only? Having a Catholic as Prime Minister will likely raise the hopes of some Reformed Christians that the federal government might finally take action of social issues. After all, the Catholic Church is opposed to abortion, euthanasia, same-sex marriage, and medical transitioning. Wouldn’t it follow that a Catholic Prime Minister would follow the teachings of his own church? Unfortunately, that isn’t likely. Ten of Canada’s preceding 23 Prime Ministers have all claimed to be Catholic. Yet, their Catholic faith didn’t guide their political decisions. Catholic Pierre Trudeau legalized abortion and homosexuality. Catholic Paul Martin legalized same-sex marriage. Catholic Justin Trudeau legalized euthanasia. With respect to Mark Carney, the Catholic Register concludes that “his track record betrays a stronger alignment with the mores and allegiances of global markets than with Catholic sensibilities… Carney is undoubtedly a Catholic of a different stripe than the Trudeaus and all the prime ministers who came between… but the wait for a prime minister who will address some of the more glaring divergences of Canadian culture from a culture of life may yet be a long one. " Mark Carney’s Political Beliefs In his 2021 book Value(s), Carney isn’t shy about what he thinks is the duty of the state: “The most fundamental duty of the state is to protect its citizens” (215). That sounds reasonable, but the question is: protect citizens from what? He elaborates further: “An expansion of state duties has occurred over the centuries. The government’s role as protector now extends well beyond shielding citizens from violence and direct injury to cover areas as varied as promoting financial stability, protecting the environment and maintaining data privacy. Much of this growth has been a response to risk-averse populations that expect ever greater protections from government authorities. Moreover, the duties of governments today reach well beyond their traditional roles as protectors to include the provision of basic services, the promotion of the welfare and the fostering of culture.” Compare this with a Reformed view of the duty of the state. With Article 36 of the Belgic Confession, we confess that God “wants the world to be governed by laws and policies so that human lawlessness may be restrained and that everything may be conducted in good order among human beings.” These twin responsibilities can be boiled down to public justice and public order. Although both concepts could be stretched to include all sorts of activities like providing education, welfare, or healthcare, Reformed Christians usually maintain that public justice and public order are relatively narrow responsibilities. A third of Carney’s book is dedicated to discussing the “triple crises of credit, Covid, and climate” (416). In each of these cases, he frames the government’s responsibility in terms of protection. When it came to the financial crisis of 2008, the government’s job was to protect people from financial instability. In 2020, the government had to protect citizens from a pandemic. Today, the government needs to protect its populace from climate change. Carney uses just these three examples, but there is hardly a hint in the book that he considers there to be many limits to what the state can or should do. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Carney thinks the state needs to be huge or swallow up the other institutions in society. At numerous points in his book, Carney recognizes that businesses and markets are efficient and indispensable in a modern society. He recognizes that markets – not the state – are the engine of the economy. But if businesses and markets are the engine of the economy, Carney believes the state should be the steering wheel, guiding the generative potential of the economy in what it perceives is the right direction. As he puts it, governments must “use regulatory policy to frame the future direction of the economy” (471). Carney gives this power to the state because only “the state embodies collective ideals such as equality of opportunity, liberty, fairness, regional solidarity and caring for future generations” (517). In his view, business and other private institutions will always be selfish and self-seeking. Only the state is selfless and altruistic." Besides being our new Prime Minister, who is Mark Carney? | ARPA Canada It appears that PM Carney holds the same old liberal views that government (Big Brother) knows what is best for everyone and should intervene in every aspect of the economy, society and lives of the citizens. That is the classic liberal/NDP view. The conservative view is basically the opposite. Conservatism believes less government intervention in society and the lives of its citizens and less taxes is better and means more freedom for everyone. I believe this article gives a pretty good idea of what we can expect if the Liberals win this election.

Canada's health care system gets a dismal rating...
blackbird replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They have to provide all kinds of equipment and various specialists in Scandinavian countries. That costs a lot. Yet they can provide good service, likely much better service than in Canada. -
Beware of degenerates who constantly use insulting vile language on here. Put them on ignore.

Haha. You are lying again. That figure was pure speculation and from an AMERICAN WEBSITE. Do you pay attention to what you look at? America has ten times the population of Canada. There is no 600,000 people in Canada that are born with that abnormality. Anyway that figure in the U.S. is false. Some speculated and someone tried to make it sound like a fact on their website. PUre BS. Then you read it and said it refers to Canada???? Of course biological sex is binary. An abnormal birth does not change basic biological facts. If a person is born with only one working eye, it doesn't mean there is a new species of one-eyed people.

That is a phony argument. It has nothing to do with it. It would be extremely rare, maybe one in a million. It is an anomaly and proves nothing. The subject is whether there are only two genders, male and female or more than that. LGBTQ+ and trans probably claim there are more, which you seem to believe.

Someone coming in illegally still does not give you the right to deny them their human rights and treat them in an uncivilized or inhumane manner. It is far more complex than your mind can understand.

Your claims are false. You are pretending he is a MAGA but what he has said has nothing to do with Trump or MAGA. What you are claiming is a pure Liberal/NDP lie that the gullible like you swallow. Pierre Poilievre has answered questions, has given his plan, has explained why he doesn't take a security clearance which would prevent him from speaking about foreign interference. That would mean a security clearance for a party leader is useless. He has in fact stated repeatedly his clear priorities. You're just willfully ignoring them and making up phony allegations.
