  1. Did you know that the default position in Canada is to release suspects with conditions if at all possible and under almost all circumstances? That's a fact. I found it on a Canada law website. We live in a sick country.
  2. I'm afraid it is your attitude that is toxic to Canada. Since you are a liberal lefty, you are responsible for all the catch and release of dangerous offenders, the sick bail and parole system and the violent offenders on the street. So who is in the dark ages? You mock and reject the Bible and biblical Christianity. That means you know who you are following.
  3. I'm not the judge of who goes to hell, but I do agree with you about capital punishment for murderers. We have lots of wimpy people on the forum and across Canada who think murderers should have the same rights as everyone else. I go by the Bible and what I read is that when someone murders someone else, he loses his right to life as long as it is done through a due process fairly.
  4. The fact is it is you liberals and left who have had political power and allowed the dangerous mentally ill offenders to be out on the street attacking innocent citizens. When are you going to wake up and realize the only party that wants to lock dangerous offenders up for a long time or permanently if necessary are the conservatives?
  5. If a criminal is behind bars, he is not going to be stabbing or killing or robbing anyone. That is the important thing. That is why there should be longer sentences. People who drink or take drugs and drive and kill someone get very light sentences in Canada. That is wrong. If we need more bigger prisons politicians should build them. Stop spending billions of dollars on trying to solve the problems in the rest of the world. Canada spent four billion dollars in the middle east over a few years. Not much deterrent in Canada with the soft-on-crime legal system and light sentences with easy bail and generous parole. I heard some criminals even commit crimes just to get back into prison for a while because they don't like living on streets or the rents are too high. The food is better in prison. That is a lofty fine sounding phrase, but it is not realistic. Crime prevention must mean real punishment. Stop the soft-on-crime system. Once people commit crimes, they shouldn't have all the rights of law-abiding citizens. The protection of society should come first, not the rights of criminals.
  6. No it's not slogans. The stabbings, assaults by mentally ill criminals are reported on the news every day. It would be better if it were not true and were just slogans. But it is a fact the dangerous offenders are attacking people and businesses every day and being caught and quickly released by the courts and legal system. Some have been arrested dozens of times for so many crimes, but still quickly released.
  7. Your conscience is seared. You are willing to allow the worse offenders to get off and you call people who believe in law and order as draconian.
  8. Under Liberal governments and Supreme Court rulings, Canada has become a breeding ground for criminals who claim mental illness. Of course if one is addicted to drugs, that can further strengthen their argument that they were not responsible for the stabbings and other assaults they committed against innocent citizens. quote Canadian courts have long had the power, in prescribed circumstances, to exempt an individual from criminal responsibility for actions performed while he or she was incapacitated by a mental disorder. That power rests on “the basic principle of Canadian criminal law that to be convicted of a crime, the state must prove not only a wrongful act, but also a guilty mind.”(1) Consequently, Canada’s Criminal Code has always provided that persons will not be held criminally liable for their actions if their mental state at the time rendered them “incapable of appreciating” the nature and quality of the act and knowing that it was wrong. unquote Mental Disorder and Canadian Criminal Law (PRB 99-22E) Allowing people to escape the consequences of their criminal behavior on the basis of mental disorder is a major flaw and a denial of justice for innocent Canadians who were victims of crime. The Liberals have adopted this ideology and steadfastly cling to it. It is impossible to change liberal ideology. To Liberals this is their god. The only way this can be changed is to vote them out of power and put people in power who understand that law and order and the protection of society must always come first. The central issue in Canadian law is this. "“the basic principle of Canadian criminal law that to be convicted of a crime, the state must prove not only a wrongful act, but also a guilty mind.” It is one thing to prove that someone committed a crime. But if the prosecution must prove that the suspect had a guilty mind, that introduces a huge hurdle. How does the prosecution prove someone appreciated the nature of the act or knew it was wrong? That is the problem. All the defence has to do is make the argument that the accused did not know or appreciate the nature of their crime. It makes it far more difficult to prove someone is guilty of a crime and it gives an out for the accused. It is called Not Criminally Responsible or NCR. This seriously undermines the whole justice system in Canada.
  9. Here again you are being stubborn and refuse to accept the facts. " Mentally ill man may refuse treatment, court rules CBC News · Posted: Jun 06, 2003 6:48 PM PDT | Last Updated: June 6, 2003 In a case reminiscent of the Hollywood movie A Beautiful Mind, the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that a mentally ill physics genius has the right to refuse treatment for his condition." Mentally ill man may refuse treatment, court rules | CBC News While the Supreme Court did not shut down the mental institutions per se, they have made rulings that make it impossible or very difficult to commit people to mental institutions. So in that sense the institutions are being made redundant for involuntary treatment of mental cases. This is why the Conservatives say they may use the not-withstanding clause to send people to mental institutions. That may be the only Constitutional provision that could over ride the Supreme Court rulings. This appears to be the only way a Conservative government could protect society from mentally ill criminals. The Liberals/NDP refuse to do anything.
  10. You are trying to divert and use a technicality of who closed the mental institutions. What difference does it make? There were closed. Your obsession with my error of saying the federal government closed them when it was the provincial government is irrelevant to the subject. The point I made was they were closed and there was nothing to protect society from all the mentally ill people that were released into the streets. The BC NDP creating ten beds for them when there are over 2,500 mentally ill people on the streets does nothing to solve the problem. It proves the BC NDP are not serious.
  11. Nope. You are sick. quote Man accused of trying to kill Vancouver visitor released from custody | Apr 24 2025 Man accused of trying to kill Vancouver visitor has been released | News
  12. You're being dishonest about this. What difference does it make who closed them? The fact is the institutions were closed and all the crazies were let loose on the streets to take drugs and assault people. That is the point.
  13. Technically you are correct. The institutions were likely closed by provincial governments. But you are being dishonest in trying to divert to the question of who closed them. That has nothing to do with it. The closing of the institutions was supported by the federal government and the federal government is responsible for the bail system laws that continue to allow catch and release of dangerous offenders. The federal government (Liberals) refused to change the laws that allow this in spite of the fact all the police chiefs, premiers and others have protested to the federal government in the past few years. The liberal government just ignores all the authorities and police chiefs.
  14. The point is the liberals and left including the Supreme Court all agreed to shut down mental institutions. The liberal left have infiltrated the courts, judges, lawyers, and government. The Government of Canada is part of it. They have refused to change the law which allows a revolving door justice system. That is a simple fact which you deny. You seem to be denying that these addicts and mental cases are on the streets because of the Government of Canada and all the bleeding heart liberals across the country like yourself.
  15. No, it is more like a facade. Look that up in the dictionary. It is a smokescreen, a drop in the bucket. The Premier appears on Global News and thinks he is making a big announcement when in fact it is just a drop in the bucket and will do little to nothing to solve the problem.
  16. Yes and you ignore the fact he seriously assaulted a woman on the street and tried to kill her. If you think this kind of guy should be out on bail on conditions, you are mentally sick. He tried to kill someone. That is attempted murder. " Supreme Court of Canada says bail the ‘cardinal rule’ after an arrest Criminal Law / November 29, 2024 By LegalMatters Staff • Many people charged with a criminal offence are often released from custody on bail. The formal name is a “release order” and it may come with certain conditions, such as having a bail surety. Bail is usually given within 24 hours of an arrest, unless the alleged crime is serious or the person is a repeat offender. “Before making any bail decision, the Court must take into account whether the accused person is Indigenous or belongs to a vulnerable group that is overrepresented in the criminal justice system and faces disadvantages in obtaining bail due to systemic discrimination,” says Ottawa criminal lawyer Céline Dostaler. She says when deciding on what conditions to impose on someone being given bail, judges must follow the “ladder principle,” ie, imposing the least restrictive conditions necessary to address risks posed by the accused. unquote Supreme Court of Canada says bail the ‘cardinal rule’ after an arrest ⋆ LegalMattersCanada This proves the Liberal government, the courts, and many lawyers put the rights of criminals and dangerous offenders ahead of the safety of the citizens in Canada. The system is a farce. Liberal politicians, many judges, and especially supreme court and defence lawyers sit in their high paid thrones and fight for the rights of dangerous offenders and mentally ill people that should never be out on the streets. The system is a complete failure. When it talks about imposing the least restrictive conditions on offenders, and we look at the repeated release of dangerous offenders, we see how that is working. It is a complete disaster.
  17. You are being deceptive again. You don't want to admit this is a national problem. You should really try and learn about it more before you post nonsense.
  18. This has always been provincial jurisdiction. You’re either ignorant or are lying. The closing of mental health institutions was a national occurrence. quote Mental institutions were closed in Canada due to a shifting approach to mental health12345. The approach to mental health was changing, and institutions like Riverview were no longer considered ideal1. The major shift in mental health practices started in the 1950s and 60s, and shuttering people away in large institutions was no longer seen as the best approach3. Instead, mental health services were redirected to be delivered in the community5. unquote "The general demise of provincial psychiatric hospitals in Canada (until 2006)" The general demise of provincial psychiatric hospitals in Canada (until 2006) - MedCrave online The general belief that developed in the 20th century was that the mentally ill would be better off being taken care of in their communities rather than in institutions. However, after they were released and the institutions shut down, the communities did not and were not equipped to deal with the mentally ill. Communities can not take the place of mental institutions. Neither will "social housing" solve the problem. Many of these people are addicts, dangerous offenders and generally mentally ill. Putting them in some sort of "social housing" is not going to make them better and will not stop the crime.
  19. The BC NDP is deceptive just like their followers. They claim they opened a involuntary treatment centre, but there is only TEN beds in it and there are over 2,500 mentally ill addicts and offenders on the streets. This is why it is a deception.
  20. You are willfully blind. It's been discussed endlessly and on the news every day. You are lying and pretending you don't know what is going on.
  21. What do these have to do with the Liberal Party? Plenty. That's the direction the Liberal-NDP coalition party leans. It's all about control and globalist one world ideology. They believe government knows what's best for everyone. Individual freedom and entrepreneurs are ignored. What do you say about all the catch and release of dangerous offenders happening daily? Why are you not concerned about it? Why do you support a party that does nothing about the crime? Why do you think the rights of criminals should come before the safety of Canadians?
  22. The BC NDP just announced they are opening a facility for involuntary care for the addicted, mentally ill patients. The problem is there are over 2,500 people in the province that fit into that category. These are the kinds of people that randomly attack other people on the streets. Many of them are addicted. They have mental problems and are dangerous. Forty years ago, the court and government of Canada decided to close the mental institutions and released all the mental patients out onto the streets. The thinking was that they would be taken care of in other ways by the communities. It never happened and many people became drug addicts and many committed crimes. Today the system is run by liberals and left who think it is criminals right to be released on the street immediately or ASAP even if they commit serious offences and try to kill other people. So the BC NDP solution is to open a tiny clinic with ten beds in Surrey BC. This will do nothing. This is a massive problem and causing great harm to businesses and people around the province. It is far past the time to act and government to do their primary duty to protect the citizens and maintain law and order.
  23. Don't hold your breath.... the Conservatives will either win the election or still stand strong in Parliament to face the destructive Liberal party as it continues to wreck Canada. Liberals could continue down their spiral path of wrecking Canada and could cause a separation or break up of the country. The Liberal ideology is destructive and many know it. Socialism and Marxism have failed wherever they have been tried. You want to be paying a fortune for groceries and continued uncontrolled crime on the streets, vote Liberal or NDP.
  24. Trump is not dumb. He and his advisers know Carney and the Liberals would make it easier to rip off Canada because Liberals have proven they are incapable of managing the economy or finances. The Liberals have wasted billions of dollars and will continue to do so. Trump knows that. Why do you think he is making all his comments that help Carney? Of course he knows he is helping Carney. This is a no-brainer.
  25. This should be obvious to the most simple minds. Trump repeated his usual diatribe yesterday and Carney is using it today as his most important campaign talking point. This should be obvious that this is a conspiracy between Trump and Carney to get the Liberals elected. Four more years of this destructive gang. A woman visiting from Calgary was seriously assaulted while walking on a popular walkway in Vancouver a day or two ago. She was able to run even though seriously injured to a hotel entrance where some security guards were able to apprehend this crazy guy who wanted to kill her. He was arrested and believe it or not, he was released the same day. This is the Liberal/Carney kind of Canada we have. Catch and release the most dangerous offenders even if they attempt to murder someone. That is how it is almost every day in Canada's cities. Meanwhile all Carney is doing is talk about Trump to scare voters and falsely claim Pierre Poilievre is not serious about gun control. What a deceptive lie. Legal gun owners are not the problem. Yes there is a problem with illegal hand guns in the major cities. They come across the border and more should be done to stop them. But this is not the only crime problem in Canada. Every day criminals attack innocent people, are arrested and immediately released onto the streets. Dangerous offenders are let out on bail or early parole. These are the problems. But Liberals refuse to do anything about it. Also people who commit gun crimes and mentally ill people are not incarcerated as they should be. Mentally ill drug addicts are rampant on the streets. Nothing is done about it. The media is also helping Carney. I just heard a reporter bring up the 51st state comments again. This is designed to help Carney. Keep scaring Canadians to vote Carney. Carney is milking if for all it's worth right at this moment. Carney says "America wants to break us so they can own us". This presumes he is the only one who can deal with Trump. This is false and the Carney-Trudeau ideology is wrecking Canada. This keeps him talking about Trump and wins more votes. What a scam! There goes the media again. They just asked Carney about the 51st a couple minutes ago and another reporter now asked the same question about the 51st state comment. It is repeated ad nauseam. It is obviously orchestrated to help Carney and the Liberals. Carney and the mainstream media (not the Rebel News or True North) keep repeating "the 51st state" and "American wants to own us". This will be the main talking points the last few days of the election campaign, a campaign of orchestrated fear.
