Wow. Thank you, Treebeard and MoonFace. I never, ever, ever knew that's how voting in Canada worked. I never knew that the person who is elected gets to flip-flop around between whatever party makes them a better offer and who gives a sh!t about what the voters in their area want. That is great information. And another good reason for Alberta to separate.

So.....what is the point of voting then, if the person you vote for gets to choose which party he/she is going to work for and constituents have no say in that?

Nothing says "I totally consulted with my constituents and they all want me to join the Liberal party" like locking down your account so you can't hear from your constituents.

I notice you can't answer the question. Why are you against Alberta leaving? You hate our resources, you hate our way of life (all those farting cows, OMFG!!!), you hate the way we vote, you hate everything about Alberta. You should be thrilled! You can have Liberal governments forever! No one can answer that question because there are no good reasons for Alberta to stay. None.

I think ALL of our politicians know Canada is toast. These floor-crossers are just trying to get closer to the trough before there's nothing left.

The Liberals poor policies and decision making is the cause of this inflation. Not all of our problems can be blamed on Trump. The budget is being discussed in Senate hearing right now and the PBO has just said that the tax cuts will only benefit Canadians who are already doing well enough. Those barely getting by will fall further behind and that is 25% of Canadians right now. FFS, the grocery rebate is supposed to go to 12 million Canadians! 12 million people can no longer afford to eat. How the F do you view that as a win for Liberal policies? You know, the real job of government happens in the committees, not in CBC headlines. If you guys watched more of those, you'd see how badly the CBC is misleading and lying to the public.

If voters no longer know who is going to switch sides for a special position or a travel perk, then ya. Democracy is dead in Canada.

Of course the Libs are going to win the next election. They bring in 2 million voters a year. There's no possible way any other party can make up that ground. Liberals will get 1 party rule by the end of this year. then we will be no different than Cuba, Venezuela or North Korea. Liberal supporters will absolutely LOVE this because the media will tell them to. Bread lines are GREAT because you get to spend hours with all your neighbours talking about how lucky we are that our government cares so much about us.

Why are you against Alberta leaving? The rest of Canada HATES Alberta with a burning rage that borders on mental illness. They don't want our resources, they DETEST our way of life. You should be THRILLED to see us go. What the hell is the problem?

No prosperous nation needs to give its citizens a rebate so they can afford the necessities of life. The "grocery rebate" is a huge admission of failure. Elbows up = Stomachs empty

So this one flew under the radar for quite a while, but social media is full of a recent video made by this trans man, who tried to kill his children, but is out on bail. The 8-yr-old's injuries were so severe she had to be airlifted to Edmonton and spent months on a feeding tube. He was released on bail after just 2 days. His sentencing hearing was scheduled for January 2026, but has been postponed for some reason. So he has been free, out on bail, since he did this. He's been spotted in both the Edmonton and Calgary areas & in BC, so absolutely free to roam. Local MP Chris Warkentin speaks on Grande Prairie stabbing involving children : My Grande Prairie Now Compare this to Tamara Lich, of the Freedom Convoy fame, who (for the misdemeanor crime of mischief) spent 45 days in jail, had to pony up a hefty bail bond, faced an unreasonable number of ridiculously strict bail conditions - including no access to social media and was under house arrest. I just do not understand how you Liberal supporters can continue to defend this and vote for this degenerate party that protects child rapists, pedos and murderers. Like seriously - NONE of these child victims mean anything to you? You would rather stick with virtue signaling about your great "compassion" for child murderers and rapists? It's an opinion piece. I see your side's "opinions" all the time. Here, in the news, on social media. I'm well aware of what your side believes in. I don't need to see another shitty opinion piece from your side. We've all had your opinion on everything shoved down our throats for decades now. Nobody is confused about what your side believes in or why. You believe pedos and rapists should be released back onto the streets as soon as possible because they "may have had a crappy life" or are "brown skinned." The police were there multiple times for mental health issues with the kid. The kid was transitioning and on a cocktail of various drugs, hormones, etc. He had a history of irrational behaviour going back to age 11. He was openly posting about wanting to do violence. The guns should have never been returned. Period. The cops fu&%ked this one up. Majorly.

I didn't even read it. I don't vote for how a person looks or if there are aspects of his personality I find distasteful. I vote for them if they have policies that I think are going to move Canada forward.

Those guns should have never been returned. The situation with the kid's mental health had not been resolved.

Let's just be honest here - yourself and a few others and all the fanatical Liberal supporters on here - it wouldn't matter who was the leader of the Conservatives. You will never vote Conservative. No matter who the leader of the Cons is - you'll accuse him/her of "whining" and being "combative." No matter who the leader of the Cons is - you'll say their personality is distasteful. Your objections are petty. We're not picking someone to have dinner with. We're supposed to pick the person who has the best policies. A Liberal podcast just had a discussion about how Jamil Jivani is "too ugly" for politics. People on social media are slamming because he "looks like a penis" because he's bald. (He's a cancer survivor.) You people are just f&$king ridiculous.

I can't even count how many times AFTER a tragedy, the police in the presser say "This person was known to authorities...."

"Elbows Up!" The Cons have been very cooperative. They've allowed quite a few bills to pass now, even though they are only half measures to solve a problem. Sheer was just on CBC and said where a bill doesn't do any MORE harm, they have been willing to let it pass. Bills that include clauses that have nothing to do with the bill topic, but make random power grabs - like C-15 where the Libs want the ability to exempt their freinds from all federal laws (like the conflict of interest law) except criminal laws - No. Not passing. If the Cons were asking for that kind of power, you would want the Libs whining about it.
