  2. I've laughed over these August Strindberg videos for years. Every once in a while, I go back to them when I need a laugh. I like quirky, weird, Off-the-wall things. "Who's hot tonight? Strindberg's hot tonight."
  3. What makes what YOU think Islamophobia is, the right definition? Your definition of an Islamophobe is very very broad. I base my opinion of THE RELIGION on how its adherents act. 90% of the Muslims I've met have been demanding, violent, rude, selfish, unhappy people. The other 10% basically ignored me because I'm A.) Not Muslim, and B.) A woman. In spite of this, I don't go around ripping off hijabs and burkas, or screaming at them to go back to wherever they came from. In spite of this, I still give every single one of them that I meet the benefit of the doubt. Yes, I'm cautious around them, and that apparently makes me an Islamophobe. I don't "hate" Muslims, and the only "fear" I have is legitimate, as I have been physically attacked, screamed at, yelled at, slapped, watched in horror while they all verbally abused an Israeli girl telling her she and her family in Israel all needed to die, etc. I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with your assessment that it's only a TINY, TINY, BARELY PERCEPTABLE, "ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT" MINORITY who are bringing these kinds of attitudes to Canada. It's not. But yeah, the problem is all me. I'm an Islamophobe because I don't like being treated like $hit,
  4. I'm somewhere in between.
  5. Yes, yes. Anyone who doesn't think Islam is the greatest thing ever, is a racist.
  6. Just sittin' here on the corner of Awesome and Bomdiggity....

That anywhere near Hollywood and Vine?

  7. Clearly, so was I. But I also included the fact that it is not "freely" worn by most Muslims in other countries.
  8. If my choice was the same as many women from Muslim countries - "Wear the hijab or be beaten/stoned or never leave the house" then yes, I would "freely" wear it too. Have you ever wondered why a woman would "freely" choose to give herself vitamin D deficiency, alopecia, never feel the breeze or sun on her face, restrict her movements and ability to hear, wear an outward sign of being an inferior human, etc.? There may be more women who "freely" wear it in Western countries, even Muslims themselves admit it is more of a political statement. And there have been honour killings in many Western countries doled out to disobedient girls who refuse to wear it. The fact that so many women are forced to wear it under threat of beatings and death....that alone would make me refuse if I lived in a Western country - unless I totally agreed with the political implications of it and accepted my inferior role as destined by Allah.
  9. Thank you. The evacuation went from voluntary to mandatory within 10 mins for our area. There was no time to get home, and the police were stopping everybody from going into the area, they were trying to get everyone out. So my EX could not reach him. He got some ashes from the house for me to bury, but they didn't actually find any remains. Some people found their pet's remains, but the fire was intense in our area.
  10. I'm curious - Is there a word for the bigotry of Muslims towards Westerners? Or are we saying that doesn't exist? Is there a study being done about the rise in crimes against Canadians by Muslims? Because as the Muslim population in our town grew, so did incidents of Muslims slapping, kicking, throwing objects at, verbal abuse, etc directed at Westerners. We also didn't get a hotline for reporting the incidents. Although I did report once to the RCMP when I had an object thrown at my head and required stitches. Could it be that bigotry is a 2-way street? Could it be that some Muslims are bringing this on themselves?
  11. I didn't have to evacuate, I was out of town at the time. So I don't have that trauma. A lot of my freinds up there have pictures of moose - sometimes 3 or 4 of them - coming into the town and nibbling on their landscaping the last few weeks. I think it's becasue there's so much devastation in the forest still, they are coming in for food. A few years ago we had a very late spring and the bears were a problem in town. I'm thinking they may start making their way into town again this year. This fire was just so devastating for everything in the region.
  12. One year ago today was The Beast. I didn't expect it to hit me like it is. My house is still not re-built and I still miss Whiskey every day. I can't think of him being trapped in the fire and not cry. I'm one of the 25% of Fort Mac people who will not be returning. I found a job elsewhere and am settled here now. There's hardly a day that goes by that I don't need something and then remember I lost it in the fire. One of the items I miss the most and regret losing was a beautiful flamenco shawl that a freind brought back from Spain for me. The Beast kicked my a$$, but here I am!
  13. "Imitation is the highest form of flattery."
  14. I have no enemies.  That others may see themselves and act towards me as enemies or percieve me as one, that is their definition and their decision, not mine.

  15. From the article: I've had my hand slapped away quite a few times by women in burkas or their husbands, usually while trying to hand them something. What I don't understand is why if I did that, it would be racist. But when they do it, it's considered a valid religious belief and must be respected.
  16. No Mr. Bean?
  17. The article also acknowledges that, as do I. But I read the article. The only one I see here saying that all the time....is you.
  18. Haha, I looked it up. Basically, it's when you're stupid but you don't know you're stupid.
  19. So, not willing to read it. Gotcha. And the response is more accusations of Islamophobia. Gotcha.
  20. Did you even read the article? Because it says that right in the article. I even quoted that part.
  21. I think the debate is still on-going on that, so NOT settled as you put forward. https://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2014/10/18/guest-post-the-relationship-between-islam-and-female-genital-mutilation/
  22. Haha, that's what I thought when I saw that article this morning, too.
  23. Was doing laundry last night and realized that most of my laundry consists of pajamas....I think that says a lot about me.
