  1. Well, I couldn't find it in any mainstream newsfeed except the article I found on Global News facebook page: https://globalnews.ca/news/5311738/lyon-france-explosion-injured/?utm_source=GlobalNews&utm_medium=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR1MnUVGzTmEPDRmX3RZAuvfIsbqZ7GKoNfrtrwMcR05gXAZWOgy0tVaaOw It's interesting the things that come up when you type "attack in Lyons, France" into the search bar - lots of things you never hear in the news - beheadings, bombings.....
  2. Ignoring the world-wide picture helps if you only focus on "moderate" Muslims hampered by Western laws. There was another attack in France - breaking news story.
  3. You know I'm going to disagree with this. There's been actually quite a few imams in Canada preaching hate, a google search brings up quite a few pages of instances. In addition, the Al Qud festival held in major Canadian cities annually has been well-documented as nothing more than a hatefest. Also, there have been many Islamic extremism incidents in Canada, including some that we don't hear about and some that we don't hear about until after the danger has been handled by authorities. So far, 60 extremists who left to join ISIS have been allowed back into the country to roam the streets freely and we still have to deal with others who are wanting to come back, which begs the question - Why do they even want to come back if they hate us? There's also been evidence of certain Islamic organizations funneling money to extremists. I would not classify all this as "little" evidence of Islamic extremism in Canada.
  4. I actually don't agree completely with getting rid of mosques. I would however, like to see all mosques in Western countries be subject to a police search for radical Islamic materials and have every single imam and the sermons they deliver subject to investigation. If that means searching all churches for radical Islamic materials and having all churches' pastors and their sermons investigated to appease the "progressives", then so be it. If Muslims in any Western country want to riot and kill because their mosques and imams are being investigated, then everyone who takes part in the riots and killings who can be deported, should be. Immediately. With all their family. I would not understand why anyone who calls themselves a "moderate" Muslim and knows what's going on in the world, would object to having their mosque searched for radical materials or their imam investigated. I would think they would welcome it. But I highly doubt it.
  5. He is calling for the shutdown of Islamic schools in Australia. He's against burkas being worn in public. He's against Sharia Law. He calls out corruption in the Islamic community. He's against fatwas for killing ex-Muslims and those who speak out. He's says he's never once been subjected to discrimination even though his name is Mohamad and he has a beard and is a cleric. Hmmm, these are all the things critics of Islam have said here and been lambasted and argued against and called Islamophobes by the person who Thanked You for the article.
  6. Interested enough to snarky comment, though........
  7. I didn't rewrite anything. I questioned why you suddenly believe it's a good thing that Islam deals with its FGM problem now, as in the past you denied it was a problem and certainly denied it had anything to do with Muslims. Argued vociferously that Muslims did NOT have a problem with it and that it was really Christians who had the issue with FGM. Same with anti-semitism on the other thread - you have argued and argued and argued that antisemitism in Islam is exactly the same as everywhere else and Muslims did NOT have a problem with it. Called everyone names who said it was a problem, and called all the news reports "fake" and "shitty". In fact, you tried to post that it's CANADIANS that have a problem with Jews. Self-righteous hypocrisy is your forte.
  8. Someone commented without reading the OP.........
  9. Did you have something to add to the thread or you're just here to name-call and make sure the thread gets locked?
  10. From the article in the OP: Well, that's disconcerting.
  11. It is. What I don't understand is why when a random sheikh or mufti says We need to do something about FGM in Islam, that's "good to hear" but if anyone else says We need to do something about FGM in Islam, it's denied that there is a problem, it's denied that Muslims practice it, and the labels Islamophobe, bigot, racist are thrown around. Screeching about how 15% of Canadians are prejudiced against Jews, while 100% and nearly 100% of Muslims in Islam majority countries admit prejudice against Jews, that's not a problem and you're an Islamophobe if you talk about it - No, the problem is Canadians with their 15% - ruining the world, not the Muslims at 100% and AlQud's is just a rally exactly like Christians have ALL the time.
  12. Please stop rewriting everything I say.
  13. We're doing pretty good, then. https://www.learnreligions.com/muslim-views-of-jews-2076073 It seems that anti-antisemitism amongst Muslims goes down - by a lot - the more contact they have with Western nations.
  14. No more than most other places. Google Graham Steins.
  15. I was pointing out the idiocy of "no abortions under any circumstances". There will certainly be no consequences to men - like having to pay child support from the 6th week of pregnancy. And the pro-lifers don't seem to care about the millions of fertilized embryos that are thrown in the garbage from IVF treatments, which tells me they are not truly pro-life, just anti-woman.
  16. You're preaching to the choir.
  17. I think they should just go all the way and make child support mandatory from the 6th week of pregnancy, since it's a human already. They should allow 6 week old fetuses to be insured and women should be able to collect if they miscarry. They should not be able to deport anyone pregnant, since it is a US citizen. Who is going to be charged with murder for all those fertilized embryos that get thrown in the garbage after IVF treatments? The couple? The doctor? The lab techs? If you're gonna do it, do it all the way, then.
  18. Rue does a better job of making sure the talk doesn't get out of hand, much better than the screaming mimi.
  19. Same with the Tamimi woman who bombed the pizzaria in Jerusalem. The highest Islamic authorities rewarded her with a trip to Mecca - a very great honor for a Muslim. Perhaps if Islam wants us to believe they don't agree with these terrorists, they should act like they don't.
  20. Maybe that's because the perpetrators themselves do not attribute it to their religion. It seems like every Muslim perpetrator cites the Koran verses they are following and also shouts that he is doing so for Allah. Also, Muslim perpetrators are often applauded by their community when they carry out the commands of Allah. Very few in the Christian community applaud such actions.
  21. This person is so bizarre......constantly has to re-word everything that is said, just to be able to portray her pet religion as a victim and argue things that are not even said. I'm starting to think there is something seriously wrong with your mental health.
  22. Pardon me? The only "feel good" story I balked at was the couple in BC who's collecting over $6000 a month for 8 kids, still doing nothing but reproducing and whined about having to quit the language classes becasue they were not "helpful". Please provide the many cites where you claim I dismissed feel good stories as being tricks by the media. And I mean those exact words, Dia - NOT your twisted re-interpretations of what is discussed I have always been clear that I do not agree with the symbolism, history or present-day use of hijabs and burkas in the subjugation of women. I have never said that women can't wear them. I have also said many times that I'm not sure a ban would work or if it's the right thing to do. Please provide the many cites where I have told women what they can wear. Please explain how me not agreeing with the symbolism, history or present-day use of hijabs and burkas is practicing my own "oppression of women". I'm getting really tired of your lies. Edit: Sorry to Dog, I accidentally quoted YOU quoting Dia.
  23. I'm too old now for it to affect me, but I have given thought to whether I would ever have had an abortion and under what circumstances. It's a decision that is not taken lightly and I believe in my sisters that the vast majority do not take this difficult decision lightly, either. I am very grateful that I have the right to make my own decision, based on my own circumstances, based on my own life. And I would not want to take that right away from anyone else.
  24. Wake up, Dia. Islamic terrorism is a problem. It's a huge problem. Islam's stone-age beliefs, punishments and way of life are clashing with Western values. Sorry if we all don't want to ignore it and sweep it under the rug like you do. You're here every day - demanding that it NOT be talked about or that it only be talked about in the way YOU want it talked about. If you feel that strongly about it, perhaps you should be doing more to prevent the media and journalists and Muslim/Ex-Muslim reformers from talking about it as well. They have far more influence than anyone here does. Edit: It's funny because I remember when I was JW and how bent out of shape I was every time someone pointed out anything bad about my pet religion, too.
