Unless you are a holocaust survivor or related to one, you don't speak for them. Many, many holocaust survivors have come out and warned that they see the exact same things going on - the demonization of a certain segment of society, the call to "do something" about these people, the blaming of public health issues on these same people, the restrictions for only these people, etc. The holocaust started long before the gas chambers. There were steps in play to get the citizenry inured and apathetic and on board with all of this. We are following those steps and you are celebrating it.

Look, for that last time, everyone acknowledges that covid is a bit worse than the flu. IFR for covid is marginally higher by 0.05%. Annual flu deaths are not recorded accurately in Canada but the estimate is around 8000/year. So for 18 months, that would be about 12,000. And we know now that covid deaths have been inflated. No one here or anywhere else has ever said that the elderly or those with serious comorbidities dying with covid or flu should be "written off", so stop with the lying. It's just a fact of life. All everyone is saying is: Has it been worth destroying everything over? You feel it is. Not everyone else feels that way. Some of us are also concerned about the effect all these restrictions have had on the working class and on children. The collateral damage has yet to be quantified, but it's getting pretty obvious to everyone but hysterical people like you, that it has not been worth it and this whole thing has been mismanaged by greedy billionaires who have no business running the show. One of the guys at work who got it over the holidays just got back to work after quarantining, yesterday. He said he knows he got it from an after-Xmas party on the 28th. 15 people were there - all vaxxed. 13 of them got the 'Rona. Before he knew he had it, he attended a family function (I don't know how many were there) but he said all his family are vaxxed. They all got it - except one Uncle, very fit, unvaxxed. He said it was like a bad cold - congested for a couple days. But says he was very tired, slept 12-14 hours for days. He is mid-30's, vaxxed, heavy smoker. Unvaxxed girlfriend also did not get it. He commented how weird it was that out of all those people, only the unvaxxed did not get it.

The seasonal flu, which we have not been able to eradicate and has nearly the same IFR as covid, is endemic. There will never be a perfect time to drop restrictions. If you look hard enough, there will always be some reason that can be used to justify continued restrictions. Nothing is perfect. Life is not perfect. Life is meant to be lived and this is not living.

If covid had a mortality rate comparable to smallpox where up to 50% of children died from it, I would agree with you because people would be clamoring for the vaccine and lockdowns, fines, masking, segregation of society, firing people from jobs might be justified then. You cannot justify what is going on when covid's IFR is 0.05% higher than the seasonal flu. You can try but you just look ridiculous.

Comparison of Covid to smallpox is ridonkulous. Smallpox had a 30% mortality rate, for children under age 1 it was 40-50%. Covid has an infinitesimally larger IFR than the seasonal flu. I beg to differ on who the "drama queens" and extremists are these days.
