So you want Canada to open a Guantanamo Bay?
-
Again we trampled on his right when he was accused of terrorism. You seem to forget that rights are taken away from those convicted, but they are there to protect those accused. One is innocent until proven guilty.
-
No, and pretending I am making that argument is silly. I am pointing out where you made errors in facts and claimed your opinion to be fact. He should not have been invited to the event, everyone has stated that very clearly. The backbencher MP that invited him should take responsibility, and it is up to Trudeau to decide if he will remove him from caucus (I think that would be a good idea). There should be checks and balances put in place to ensure this kind of slip up doesn't happen in the future (e.g. a process for the high commissioner to vet guest lists) No terrorist has been coddled, are you suggesting that Canada should change its Charter for all citizens accused of crime?

The most powerful militaries in the world
?Impact replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This might be a worthwhile topic to start. I agree there are certainly parallels between the 1963 Canadian election, and the 2016 US election. While the players and tactics differ, there is unmistakable interference by a foreign government to influence the outcome of a democratic election. -

Ok, so Pearson and Trudeau are toady's. What are Diefenbaker and Harper, the ones that actually made the original decisions? -
Opinion, not fact So you are saying there should be exceptions in Charter? If accused (note not convicted but accused in the case you are referencing) of terrorism then your rights are subject to violation? Again you have your facts wrong. Nobody was assassinated in the case you are alluding to. Yes, a backbencher in the government did invite him to attend an event, although they never had anything to do with inviting him to the country.

California Judge Rules In Favor Of Christian
?Impact replied to betsy's topic in Religion & Politics
This is totally unlike the previous case, and if you read the article you linked that will be abundantly clear. I have mentioned this difference many times in the past in reference to the earlier case and it seems the judge Lampe agrees with me. “The State is not petitioning the court to order defendants to sell a cake. The State asks this court to compel Miller to use her talents to design and create a cake she has not yet conceived with the knowledge that her work will be displayed in celebration of a marital union her religion forbids,” The analogy I used many times in the past for the other case is that the baker was not required to bake a cake in the shape of a penis, just sell to a gay couple. This case is completely consistent, as Charles LiMandri of the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund stated: “Cathy will gladly serve anyone, including same-sex couples, but Cathy will not use her artistic talents to express messages that conflict with her sincerely held religious beliefs about marriage.” -
Perhaps summer is coming and weather will get warmer. I think my perhaps is a much more likely perhaps.

America under President Trump
?Impact replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
This incident was never reported to police. According to eyewitness Kathleen Romeo, a 16-year-old student at St. Michael’s Academy in Manhattan, said cries of “There’s Trump!” went through the crowd of onlookers when the erstwhile deal maker emerged from his limousine in front of a Smiler’s deli. “A lot of people were surprised that he got out to see what was happening,” Romeo said, adding that the bat-wielder ran off just before Trump actually appeared, and that Trump, “just looked around and went back into his limo.” There is also an anonymous source that claims Trump is a hero. It will be hard knowing what really happened 30 years later, and Trump himself didn't think to raise it until he conveniently heard about the anonymous source statement and decided to latch onto it. I would suggest that the actual named eyewitness got it right. -

The defense development sharing program between Canada and the US is a very strange beast. It was signed in 1963, and still in effect today. Trade between the two nations under this agreement are not subject to other trade agreements that are reported on, and there are no details available on what the real volume is in either direction. Probably the bulk of the business is subsystems that get incorporated into products that either nation may use internally or sell to other nations (if they contain classified information material then there is a process to determine what consent is required) -
Separation ...... what if ?
?Impact replied to Nefarious Banana's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That would mean that neither Alberta nor Saskatchewan would get the oil sands, the northern halves of both those provinces were part of the district of Athabasca (Alberta), and North - West territories (Saskatchewan). In fact Saskatchewan wouldn't get the southern quarter either, district of Assiniboia. Manitoba would be much smaller, Ontario would be smaller as well although essentially everywhere the roads go today (including what most people think of as northern Ontario) would be part of Ontario. The coastal provinces (both coasts) would remain essentially as they are. -
Justin Trudeau the Worst PM Since Pierre Trudeau?

full of people that see only skin color, or what someone is wearing. They are not interested in the person, only the superficial. -

The most powerful militaries in the world
?Impact replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Did you notice that the "powerful" metric you linked to is based on a formula that takes many factors into consideration including population so the fact they are smaller has little relevance. If you go to the original source, you will find the comparison is Australia was assigned 0.4072 (rank 22) and Canada was assigned 0.4381 (rank 26). b.t.w. the Canadian Armed Forces have considerably more active and reserve personnel than the Australian Defense Force. Canadian soldiers are among the highest paid in the world which eats up a huge part of the budget. -

It would be nice to actually discuss the situation without the complete utter bullshyte you continually regurgitate. When you grow up maybe we can have a real discussion on the state of Canada's military and where it should be. -
I haven't looked up the details of who he dragged along to India, I know he had 18 in the official delegation to Israel (Ministers, MPs, etc.) and 208 others like rabbis, lawyers, president of Outback Steakhouse, etc. ... I already pointed out that the Prime Minister of India was not there to greet Harper on either of his junkets to India. In 2012 it was Minister of Human resources (are you claiming that outranks Minister of agriculture?), and in his first visit in 2009 which is comparable to Trudeau's first visit he got some unnamed government representative so if anyone Harper is the one snubbed according to your ridiculous criteria.

Olympics PyeongChang 2018 - you are excited
?Impact replied to RB's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
That gets back to a recent discussion (I think on here) about the Olympics in general and the changing of sports over time. Cross country skiing is one of the original winter Olympic sports. With so many different events in the current Olympics there certainly is an argument to be made to go back to basics. -
Concerning the FBI dropping the ball on the youtube comment, I have seen so many comments on youtube, etc. that could be considered threatening that the FBI would have to hire tens of thousands of agents to track them down. Infowarts is a prime example of a comment board that is rife with threatening comments. Now I don`t recall any hinting at shooting up a school, so perhaps in this case it was beyond. Most just want to off their (no so) favorite political figure(s).

It would be nice if you did the smallest bit of research before dumping on Ontario. Alberta lead with the highest minimum wage, and it will again be the highest in October. Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, all have higher corporate tax rates. Income tax is much more difficult to compare because it is graduated differently by province so you would have to know an exact amount to make a comparison. Ontario however is the absolute lowest tax rate for the highest tax bracket.

You also need to be the person you say you are, and not some candidate getting a big long list of names as seems to be often done. What would you consider a party event, hopefully not the convention as that is very difficult for most to attend. Perhaps a local riding association meeting, or some meet & greet rally? What about one of those massive hate fest rallies that DT liked to hold? What about someone donating to a party, without getting a vote? I expect there are a lot of people who donate to parties, but have never attended any events. If you take away the right to vote, will they be much less likely to donate? In the Internet age, there are a lot of ways to interact without physically attending, should some of those be considered?
