  1. Wrong, the point is lets not take a group of young girls to the border all excited for their trip to Disney when one of their friends is turned back just because of where she was born. It is not the politically correct liberals that are to blame, it is Donald Trump - period. Your buddy Donald is the one taking away this opportunity, the responsibility is 100% his.
  2. "I looked at Paradise and found poor people forming the majority of its inhabitants; and I looked at Hell and saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women." Doesn`t look too good for the 1%
  3. Where do you think the suicide bombers are going to find their 72 virgins?
  4. Freedom of religion or no religion. I don`t understand what freedom from religion means, it seems to be in direct contrast to freedom of religion. Do you want those holy rollers standing out on the street corner with their amazing life message magazine to be locked up? Do you want all churches to be in nondescript buildings, without any chimes? Do you want to take the evangelical preachers off of television?
  5. Yes, it is called factual based debate. It contrasts quite clearly with the supposition based one.
  6. Understanding? Based on what, Fox and Friends?

  8. Then you must be a huge fan of those walking through the snow in Quebec & Manitoba.
  9. When you get that first part time job flipping burgers to buy an iPhone, you start filing income taxes and that continues until after you are dead and buried.
  10. What does she want is the real question. I have asked this a few times already, but have not received an answer: Is Sharia simply rules in how to live my life, or is it rules to be enforced by others on me?
  11. The whole point is that we as Canadians are not against a person because of their religion, that is enshrined in our Constitution (freedom of religion). We do no have to agree with or support any of those religions, we just don't discriminate against people because they do. Unfortunately because of the insistence of Jacob Epp, PC MP from Manitoba, the supremacy of God got included in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. At the time there was strong lobbying from the Evangelical Christians (100 Huntley Street, Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, etc.) to have God acknowledged in the Constitution; Epp was a Mennonite. We really need to fix that terrible mistake, and remove God from our Constitution. That is separate from the issue of freedom of religion, which might be clarified as freedom of religion or no religion (freedom from religion makes no sense).
  12. Just a bit of history. A long time ago in Quebec (before my time) there was an attempt to create a Jewish school board. There is, and has been for a long time, a large Jewish population in the Montreal area. In the days of the 'confessional' or religious based schools it would have made sense to have a Jewish school board. The problem they ran into is the great disparity within the Jewish community (Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, Hassidic and I'm sure much more subtle differences as well) that they couldn't come together to form a single Jewish school board. Are we going to have Sunni and Shi'a school boards, and let's not forget Sufism and all the other results of schisms.
  13. Unfortunately our country started out with religion in schools, and that is enshrined in the Constitution (article 93). When I went to school in Quebec we didn't have public schools, we had Catholic schools and Protestant schools. They were both supported by the province. Quebec started to change this system about 20 years ago to reduce the number of school boards. They needed to request an exemption from article 93 by the federal government, if you look at the current constitution there is an article 93A which states that article 93 does not apply to Quebec. For a number of years after that there were religious education classes still offered, and then they created the Éthique et culture religieuse class to become part of the standard curriculum for all (including private education). The controversy continues, with various religious groups still wanting their own religion in schools.
  14. The article you cited clearly said there was an increase in 2015 over 2014. That means that crime increased in 2015. I don't see comparable numbers for 2016 yet.
  15. Yes, instead of going to school the young should be out digging ditches in order to be 'productive'. The seniors should get off their lazy butts as well. We continually get this crap about 50% but you totally ignore reality.
  16. The effective corporate tax rate in Canada could double and still it would be lower than in the US.

How do you figure this to be true? The effective tax rate in the US is 27%. Canada's is roughly the same.

That is according to a report from the Congressional Budget Office. I went to their website yesterday looking for the TrumpCare report and also found one on corporate taxes. It lists the effective tax rate in the US at 18.6%, and Canada at 8.5%. Yes, there are all those higher fake rates that people like to quote, but when you look at what is actually paid it is significantly lower.

But this isn't what is actuallly paid....it's a statistical model created by the CBO for the attempt to compare. Look at Appendix B as they show how these sensitive factors greatly affect the overall rates. In one of the cases Canada and the US had negative tax rates.

  17. So you are suggesting that the school week be Sunday through Thursday then?
  18. Trees don't last for hundreds of millions of years. Planting one does little when you clearcut forests and bring down 1000 for every one you plant. Trees can be part of a sustainable economy, but they can't offset releasing carbon from fossil fuels. ...and no I don't support the dumb solution where they got our federal government, and a couple of provincial governments to pony up several billion dollars for the CSS pipe dream.
  19. Just checked the Canadian Cancer Society numbers for 2006-2008, and the five year outcomes are higher than all the statistics the CDC is quoting except for lung cancer.
  20. Not if you're a child, same cite.
  21. Hedge funds, options trading? You mean gambling with other peoples money and taking a cut no matter how good or bad you do. When he burns out on Wall Street he can retire to a nice Casino in Vegas.
  22. If you have cystic fibrosis in the US, you will die 10 years earlier than if you are in Canada. You want health insurance for young healthy people only? What is that, an insurance company skimming profits as the middleman. That is not health insurance, that is just a broker taking a cut.
  23. TrumpCare takes health insurance away from 14 million Americans by 2018, growing to 24 million uninsured by 2024. Premiums go down for younger Americans, and up up up for seniors. End effect, less for fewer.
