  1. The link between the extremist right wing with a pulpit and the murder of the 6 Muslims in Quebec city is far more solid than any link to M-103. Look to the likes of Marine Le Pen, Donald Trump, and Ezra Levant.
  2. Selective memory?
  3. Sorry, not my Canada and I probably have far strong "old stock" claim to it than most.
  4. It is a group of 12 of your peers that is charged with rendering a verdict to settle a case between different people. They must reach unanimous agreement, and their decision is binding upon the judge. Certainly there are some differences in how a judge charges the jury and the role of the bailiff in the proceedings, but it is essentially the same as our modern [English] jury system. There are a lot of cultural practices in Muslim majority countries that I disagree with. The question however is that Islam, or is that a corruption of Islam. There is certainly a lot of disagreement within the Muslim world what constitutes Islam, but there is some agreement as well. Much better to discuss these in the other threads, so as not to stray too far the intent of this one.
  5. No, I don't support any far right extremist positions. I don't support Sharia law, nor do I support Islamophobic laws like you are trying to push.
  6. Contraceptives are not all equal in effectiveness, and some of the ones you might think are effective don't turn out to be in actual use. Generally the most effective ones also have the biggest side effects (other than pregnancy). So far I believe none approaches abstention (99.999998%), but even that one failed - once. Maybe your beliefs in the supernatural are no better than your beliefs in history, for example the jury system we so cherish is based on the Islamic lafif.
  7. Existing rights are not at all being challenged, that is only fear mongering by the ultra right wing extremists.
  8. The motion is about working on a problem - period. The "being treated like some god and we the people must bend over for them" is the attitude of the ultra right wing extremists pretending there is something there that is not.
  9. It will be interesting to see real stats on France. Most of the official comparative ones are up to 2014 which show growth. There are certainly a lot of stories about more recent, but no official stats that I can find.
  10. What is this, the 10th time you have given the same SPAM link today? Participate in discussions, but stop pushing your extreme right-wing campaign.
  11. Which is exactly why we need to take the supremacy of God out of the Constitution. To stop fanatical Christians and Muslims (and others) from dictating the laws of society based on scriptures written thousands of years ago by men. I was trying to be very clear - nobody owns anybody else, there are no genetic property rights. There are however obligations placed upon us due to biology. Examples relating to boys: You get a girl pregnant then if a chid is born you have an obligation (as equally does the girl) to take care of that child until it is able to take care of itself. You get a girl pregnant, you do not get to demand she either abort or give birth to a child. Examples related to girls: You bear a child then you have an obligation (as equally does the boy) to take are of that child until it is able to take care of itself. Those are the black and white areas, now comes all the grey.
  12. No, remove God from the charter. Lets not put more alt-right religious garbage in there.
  13. The security of society is dependent on much ore than armed law enforcement or military force. Canada should be looking at spending more on both domestic and international security efforts that don't involve shoving a rifle in someones face and demanding their supplication. The military forces of Canada (and the US) are involved in many non-military efforts, and that is fine but it is limiting. Lets focus on non-military missions through non-military forces, we would get more support and more individuals willing to participate.
  14. Then you agree with 17, the legal age in Turkey? The average age of marriage for women in Turkey is 24, or 4 years sooner than in Canada.
  15. You are confusing lowest legal age with what is practiced. The average age of marriage in Canada is almost 30 (28 for women and 31 for men).
  16. Well if you go back to the beginning of this thread (at least the one I started, not the merged mess Charles created) and it was trying to start that discussion. Now it seems we are more interested in the cost of cigarettes at the local reserve.
  17. No, I pointed out that your criticism is about how our economy works. Companies market to many diverse groups and the cost of that marketing is embedded in the product. I don't buy milk, I buy Sealtest.
  18. No, I was pointing out how our economy works. I have argued many times that our economy needs drastic change, but that is a completely different issue.
  19. When have I ever defended Islam?
  20. Islamophobia is not about lack of respect for Islam. add to that the 38% immigrant population, and us old stock are only 12%?
  21. Yes, an 18 month honeymoon is only 5 times longer than the average.
  22. Yes, and I also unwittingly pay far more for credit card companies even if I use cash. The tax to the banks is several orders of magnitude greater than the tax to Islam.
  23. No, a court of scorn. No, the good Christians keep telling us that we are a Christian nation. Yes, there is a 2-3 time greater rate of domestic violence among aboriginals than non. Remember that aboriginal population of Canada is under 5%, and it is also younger which is another big indicator of domestic violence. That still leaves a lot of good Christians killing good Christians.
  24. I don't disagree, but it will most likely be aggravated assault. 268 (1) Every one commits an aggravated assault who wounds, maims, disfigures or endangers the life of the complainant. Yes, it is a maximum of 14 years instead of life but the actual sentence would probably be the same anyway. The minimums for attempted murder are associated with gang crimes and firearms use.
