  1. You are the one that brought race (whatever that means) into the discussion. You linked protests by some aboriginals as a sign of racial bias on the part of all aboriginals, so does it not follow that there will be racial bias on the part of all non-aboriginals? We are not Americans here, we need to stop using American justice system examples because they do not apply. In Canada a jury is composed of adult citizens of the province/territory, the crown and defense can challenge any jury member for whatever reason so yes race along with gender, marital status, age, income, and profession often are the reasons a juror is [not] selected. The idea of an impartial jury is grand, but in truth what we have is crown and defense selecting a most favorable jury from their own perspectives with the hope it balances out.
  2. In law the concept of extenuating circumstances if often used by the defense to argue for a lighter than normal sentence, is this not the same here except being used by the prosecution to argue for a more severe sentence.
  3. You are the one that raised race as a factor for the jury, and are promoting vigilante justice. My "simplistic" view is that the jury did their job according to the instruction received and the evidence presented, and your interpretation of the jury`s findings is frightening for the future of our society.
  4. Like all responsible Presidents, Donald Trump surrounds himself with great advisors. According to Gloria Copeland, a member of his advisory board, there is "no such thing as flu season" because "Jesus himself gave us the flu shot". She wants to murder tens of thousands of Americans by stopping them from getting the flu shot.
  5. That is the biggest part of the problem. Unthinking people that somehow construe this as support for vigilante justice. Nothing could be further from the case. I have pointed out many times that the jury found reasonable cause that this was not culpable homicide - that is all. When we have people who have expressed their racial hatred now calling for vigilante justice, we have become a horrid society.
  6. Yes, it is the white guys like I pointed out above. The white guy who got away with stealing $1.2 million worth of farm equipment with a "house arrest" compared to the native who got his brains blown out. It is comments like yours that proves that there is still extreme racial hatred in this country.
  7. So you are saying that aboriginals are extremely biased, but whites are pure as the driven snow?
  8. To take out a restricted handgun and point it at someone is also a hateful scenario.
  9. I have seen enough of the facts to know that some of the bullcarp peddled above is in fact full of it.
  10. Yes, the Conservatives are lying about Trudeau said. He did not make a negative comment about the judicial system or trial. They are trying to imply something that is not true, that is the innuendo.
  11. Personally I think we should be spending far more time in Europe than we do.
  12. Yup, remember that as well. I got a stove just over a year ago with a "Designed, Engineered, and Assembled in the U.S.A." label with a flag roughly similar to the one above on it. I did note it didn't say where the parts came from.
  13. So do I, but then I hate other forum software even more.
  14. NASA relies on Canadian units of measure as demonstrated in the recent Space|X launch. Will Trump demand that NASA use miles and mph? I am sure his base will get behind that initiative.

Yes, I would like to see Canada increase its public funding of science in general including space. I don't think however rocketry is something we need to invest heavily in. There are a few commercial companies already, and how long before China and India start offering space taxi services as well. Building a space telescope and subcontracting out the transportation would be a far better investment for example. I'm not all that keen on Canada getting into the spy satellite business, so I don't think we need to worry about having the launches take place elsewhere.

Then Canadians who want careers in space programs will continue to leave for countries that do.  Canada will be left behind.

Metric is a system used in science and high-tech, not "Canadian".

  15. With a $13.3 billion dollar trade deficit with Ontario, it looks like Cuomo is playing with fire.
  16. Which is unlike what he did with the Nunes memo, he instead decided to exercise his power to declassify information. Pure politics. I was referencing Trump. No, it didn't get redacted because Trump decided to declassify its contents - simple as that.
  17. I was paraphrasing, but taken directly from your quotation: The Democrats sent a very political and long response memo which they knew, because of sources and methods (and more), would have to be heavily redacted, whereupon they would blame the White House for lack of transparency. Told them to re-do and send back in proper form! You will not that the President failed to redact the confidential information in the Nunes memo, he decided to declassify it instead. He has that choice with the longer, and less misleading memo, but he decided against that. Was that due to concerns about national security, or was it purely political?
  18. If you want to expand your investigation, then you should google search for Iain Stables, he stole $1.2 million worth of farm equipment in the same area. He is serving "house arrest" (I.e. no prison time), could that be because he has white skin. Bouchie however is lying in the ground, even though he never had a criminal record. Could the skin color of this young man have anything to do with the sentence he received? I only ask because this thread seems rife with references to this "native", and skin color appears to be the determining factor for many.
  19. I don't see your response to the second question, the one that was in the thread I was addressing. Your other response is very vague. It does not address the 'why' they don't want the public to see what is written. Trump himself said in his tweet yesterday morning that he redacted because the memo was "political and too long", of course he ignored the fact that the Nunes memo that he did declassify was "political and misleading". Your response was more along the lines of "Why did you paint the house blue - so it would be blue".
  20. You asked: So, the memo is out there, and apparently was not redacted, so...which parts should be redacted?
  21. I don't see any one-sided reporting there. I see Jagmeet Singh making some statements that appear to address the trial, and I see Cathy McLeod, Lisa Raitt, and Rob Nicholson all trying to make it a political issue with their innuendo.
  22. Great, then please post the answer. I was not privy to the DOJ/FBI comments, and suspect that if I was I would be breaking some (American) law if I revealed it. Are you privy to they comments?
  23. If you do not actually provide an example, how do you expect me to agree it is wrong. Please provide a specific case of one sided reporting.
  24. Apparently one has opened in Calgary.
  25. I have no problems answering questions I have an answer to. When you ask me to speculate I see little value in that.
