  1. America is like an older brother. You have a longer independent history and often we want to follow your footsteps. Also like an older brother, we know you well and see your flaws and sometimes think we are better than you. Usually you make us happy and we want to chum around with you, but sometimes you embarrass us and we want to snub you. Often you look over us and protect us, but sometimes we just want to fight our own battles. Yes, it is a complex relationship, but in the end we are family and we love you.
  2. Was she given the option of being excused from the jury?
  3. Yes, it does appear because you have quotes mixed in with commentary. I don't think either of these guys are good, but remove the commentary and tell me exactly what each of them said.
  4. I want a President that is capable of creating over 7.5 unique lies each and every single day.

Canada doesn't have a president, but Justin Trudeau started lying on day one.

  5. I expect that Donald Trump being a drug trafficker will top that. Of course the fact that Putin is aiding Trump might come into play as well.
  6. You mean the film from the felon? The guy that created that film is a multiple time convicted felon. He has used clever editing in the past to almost send ACORN a non-profit into bankruptcy. Their funding dried up from Congress and private donors and had to close many of their offices. After a thorough investigation by the authorities, no wrongdoing was found. The guy who created the film was ordered to pay $100,000 restitution to the employee he cleverly edited in his film to portray the supposed misdeeds.
  7. Since Betsy is ok with a sexual predator and child molester in the Whitehouse, I wonder what her position is on a drug trafficker.
  8. Actually Joe Clark had the first shot to do something about it, and failed. When Dad was returned to government he did in fact approve construction from Norman Wells to Zama, but land claim settlements still needed to be resolved.
  9. Cool, I will write that program for free; I am very productive.
  10. Lots of people have UFO experiences, not including those that fake them for attention. Obviously only a small fraction of them are investigated, generally those that have multiple independent sightings, recorded evidence, or from what are considered highly reliable witnesses (e.g. airforce pilots, etc.). None of the investigations (at least that we are told about, and I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories) have yielded any evidence that they involved little green men (ie. intelligent extraterrestrial life). Those that could be explained are very diverse in their causes.
  11. Is that like bi-polar?
  12. Tobin's government, how many decades ago was that? You realize the Tories have been in power in Newfoundland for the past 15 years up until last fall when the people of Newfoundland were so sick of the federal Conservatives that they tossed the provincial PCs as well.
  13. He told me how irresponsible Hilary is because of her email servers, so obviously he should be responsible because Melina's little boy wants to be President when he grows up.
  14. It would affect the foreign exchange rate, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
  15. You can't make this stuff up. Security expert looks at Trump email servers and finds a security nightmare.
  16. Most thinking people don't. The problem is there are a lot of non-thinking people out there that vote Liberal because their daddy voted Liberal and their granddaddy voted Liberal, etc. (Same Progressive Conservative, etc.). We need people to engage and actually evaluate the options.
  17. Must see - Obama on why America is great. There are excepts of this around, but you really need to see the whole thing, it is less than 5 minutes.

  18. Yet in the case I pointed out, that logic hasn't worked for over 30 years and 10 different justice ministers. Who is going to write our laws?
  19. That's because you live in NYC, move up north and your software will get better.
  20. I would not have used his words, but if you read the rest of what he says the context makes sense. The point is that the Supreme court cannot appeal all cases, that is why we have the various appeals courts around the country. The Supreme court picks the cases it hears based on their merit to change how law is interpreted. Usually they are because the written laws are themselves contradictory, and we can thank our incompetent Parliamentarians for that, and those contradictions need to be resolved. That is why many of the Supreme court cases are based on the Constitution Act, specifically the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Supreme Court doe not write laws, it can however point out the errors in the written laws and declare ones based on a hierarchy of laws to be invalid. Parliament is charged with fixing their mistakes, but as we have seen they are often totally incompetent at that. Take the recent case in Alberta (Travis Vader) where a judge referenced an invalid section of the Criminal code. That was declared invalid by the Supreme Court way back in Brian Mulroney's day, and he and all subsequent governments failed to address it. This guy has a good chance of getting off on appeal not just due to the incompetence of that trial judge, but the gross negligence of elected officials. Here is a list of justice ministers that were totally incompetent that hold responsibility for that egregious error: Kim Campbell Pierre Blais Allan Rock Anne McLellan Martin Cauchon Irwin Cotler Vic Toews Rob Nicholson Peter MacKay Jody Wilson-Raybould Perhaps each should be fined $1000 for every day they were in office. When will we hold our elected officials to account?
  21. Court case was Today, and they failed to get an injunction.
  22. I heard on the radio today that the guy charged (Ken Pagan) with the beer can incident at the Blue Jays game has left his job as editor at some media station (not sure if radio, television, or print) in Hamilton. There was no statement if it was voluntary or not.

Watchman and Casio portable TVs were preceded by larger CRT models that were AC/DC powered.  Eight 'D' cells provided 12VDC...and ammunition during baseball or football games if necessary.

I stand corrected, Sony had a battery (wet cell) powered television in 1961 according to this ad in Ebony magazine. I guess D cells powered ones were not that far behind. I remember we used to use the term portable, but what we really meant was it had a handle and could be lugged around but you still needed to plug it in; remember those old portable record players?

Yes I do remember those players.   Portability for entertainment was a huge leap for consumers and just taken for granted today.   Portable televisions and radios were also very popular during football game tailgate parties in the parking lot....still are.

  23. What's up with Assange. Rumours are that the government of Ecuador cut off his Internet access. Three cryptic messages were sent with a key in them, perhaps to others who will release the emails and other stuff.
  24. Actually that is the worst situation, because it essentially means nothing was ever ceded.
  25. Now this is just over the board dumb. Clinton must be laughing all the way to the big house Trump says she should be, except the house will be White.
