President Trump's cabinet
?Impact replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
There should be a mandatory minimum 2 month cooling off period between an election, and the new elected official getting his/her hands on the levers of power. This would allow both the individual time to back off on his/her ridiculous statements made during the heat of an election campaign, and the public time to adjust to the possibility of that wacko gaining power. -

Democrats Are In Disarray...Not GOP
?Impact replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I would say if you want to discuss reality, then why do you present only one side of the equation? You talk about seats the Democrats lost, but totally ignore the seats the Republicans have lost. If we look at the House for example, there was a net gain of 7 seats by the Democrats so obviously the Republicans had losses. Since you have all the research since 2009, then how about telling the whole story? -

I hope Mrs. Candice Busybody has never put up Christmas lights in view of a public road, or else she should go to court and lose her house for infringing on others Charter rights. If she dressed up, or had any of her kids dress up for Halloween, then she should be thrown in the hoosegow for such extreme spiritual acts. Plays about what? Mary, Joseph and the wise men? Edgar Allan Poe: "By that Heaven that bends above us, by that God we both adore...,"? William Shakespeare who put old Hamlet's ghost in purgatory? Perhaps Candide can be the religion police and go thorough every single play and ensure that no reference to religion is ever made. -
Final retail price. Also note that smaller quantities are usually higher, the average I gave was for 1oz quantity. If you buy it in the I-70 corridor through the mountain resorts like Vail then it is also more expensive. Note I am using the high-quality pricing, medium quality is about 15-20% cheaper. Yes B.C. and Quebec are known for lower prices (about the only thing in Quebec that is better priced than elsewhere). What does seem a common theme however is street pricing is lower than dispensary pricing almost everywhere marijuana is legal.

President of United States - Donald Trump
?Impact replied to marcus's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Only personal ones, his businesses are still legal entities, and [supposedly] outside his control/influence. I would expect the 757 would need major communications upgrade in order to satisfy even Domestic runs. Air Force 1 is described as the Oval office in the sky, where his 757 is a luxury jet. -

The next generation Air Force 1 has already been selected - The Boeing 747-8. The two issues with an unmodified 757 would be size and range. They could probably cut down on the size requirements, as I expect flying around the press occupies a big part of the plane; of course that would pose political issues. The range however would be a big problem. The current plane have been modified to have a range of 6,735 nautical miles, and the next generation will have 7,730 nautical mile range; both significantly longer than the 4,488 nautical miles of the 757. One of the biggest modifications however is the in-flight refuelling, which of course extends the range to basically food & waste limits. -

Would there be any time advantage to using Air Force 1 to commute from Manhattan to the Whitehouse? I expect the time saved by eliminating the 2 transfers, etc. would make a single Marine 1 flight just as fast. If Trump tower became a semi-permanent office location for the President, I expect they would outfit it with most of the communication capabilities of Air Force 1 eliminating the need to have it in close proximity. Do they still use LaGuardia for NYC or is there an airforce base close? I saw it there many years ago, back in the days it was a 707. -

Native Ceremony takes place at a public school
?Impact replied to Boges's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Not if it is visible from the public street. What would happen if a couple started copulating on their front lawn? No, these Christmas lights and decorations are a massive violation of my Constitutional rights. I demand full and just compensation. For every dollar this bored housewife in BC gets, I expect the same from each and every single neighbour that I walk by - and for each and every single occurrence. -
Average price in Colorado is $US7.65/gram ($217/oz). That is $CDN 10.34/gram

Some of my neighbours have already put up Christmas lights outside. I will be forced to walk by them every day for 2 months. That is a massive violation of my Constitutional rights. I demand compensation for the grief I am suffering. -
Ever watch a baseball game? Do you agree with all umpire calls? Are some umpire calls more than not just in your favour, but blatantly wrong? Would it be a different game without the umpires? You guessed it, I'm not really talking about baseball.

Up until 1996, daily reciting the Lords prayer and a reading from Christian scriptures was compulsory in British Columbia schools unless the school received a written letter from the parent/guardian then the teacher could excuse that student and assign him/her other work. It was then that section 76 (1) & (2) of the School Act were added. i wonder what Candice has to say if he child sneezes and the teacher says "Bless you". -
President of United States - Donald Trump
?Impact replied to marcus's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If Trump decides to stay in New York, then he should pay all the regular municipal taxes on Trump tower that were forgiven in lieu of making its lobby a public space. I can understand his son wanting to finish off the year at school, although that is generally a bigger problem for someone a few years older. The biggest issue however appears that he is unwilling to sever ties with his business interests, we have already seen that in wanting his adult children to be both involved in the business as well as in the presidency. i'm assuming there is a helicopter pad on top of Trump tower, as he has his own helicopter. If he had to drive there, then that would be a major upset to Manhattan traffic. I expect the security issues in the city centre are much more difficult than those at a ranch like Bush or Reagan used to spend considerable time at. -

A parent warning the school is what you suggested, since when is the parent judge, jury, and executioner? I would like to see copies of letters from this parent complaining about Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, Thanksgiving, and other Christian derived school activities. This lady has too much time on her hands, and seems fixated on taking them out on native customs. Did she get ripped off when visiting the trading post, that dream catcher she bought fell apart? -

Obviously you need to go back and read what was written, and not repeat your interpretation that is wrong. The child is not being cleansed with the sage, and the child is not joining a religion either. A baptism however is about the child being cleansed and admitted to the Christian church. -

Yes, helicopter parent Candice certainly has a bee up her bonnet. Maybe a job or a hobby would help her deal with life. -

Actually your scenario is not the same at all. First from a physical standpoint, burning sage is vastly different than dunking someone in water. If you compared it to using holy water to make the sign of the cross for example then it would similar in a physical standpoint. From a symbolic standpoint it is also vastly different. Baptism is about the individual, not about ridding of evil spirits. It is about purification and regeneration of the individual and about admitting them into the Christian church. A better equivalent would be the use of incense during a service to symbolize the prayers being lifted up towards God. -

Trudeau pledges Canadian tax dollars to Argentina.
?Impact replied to taxme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The government in Argentina is changing to something that is more in line with Canadian values, something many here seem to cherish. As I understand it, Argentina is asking for our help in resettling Syrian refugees because that is something we supposedly have experience with. It is more about experience than money. -

I would say the exact opposite. If my child's school decided to have a Christmas tree in the lobby and I complained, do you think I would get the attention of the national media? No, I would be written off as a quack, like the crybabies in BC should be.
