  1. Even Europe recognizes Obama's reckless spending is disastrous economic policy, and is refusing to participate. The European Union resisted pressure to pump more cash into its recession-hit economies just as Washington added $5 billion more to its soaring rescue bill, throwing a lifeline to stricken auto parts maker. Reuters
  2. Good news. Obama's teleprompter has it's own blog. http://obamateleprompter.blogspot.com/
  3. Obama's 'Heckuva job Brownie' moment! Obama to Leno: Geithner doing 'outstanding' job BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — President Barack Obama says his embattled treasury chief, Timothy Geithner, is doing an "outstanding job." AP Sure his Mr. President, sure he is.
  4. These AIG bonuses should also be a lesson to Washington, to actually read legislation before voting on it. No more rushing because "things can't wait."
  5. This is a spin-off topic from my 'Senator Teleprompter' thread from back during the Presidential campaign. Obama's safety net: the TelePrompter President Barack Obama doesn’t go anywhere without his TelePrompter. The textbook-sized panes of glass holding the president’s prepared remarks follow him wherever he speaks. Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small. Politico Barack Obama - teleprompter addict, not master orator Friday, March 6. He has been credited as one of the best orators in a generation, but Barack Obama is under fire for his 'addiction' to using teleprompters even during some of his shorter remarks. UK News Just in case you haven't heard the Messiah minus his teleprompter, it's quite entertaining. Here are my favourites: Obama claims he's visited 57 States Children get breathalyzer Something about the cost of the war They say that...uh....they say that...uh....they say that....uh... The last one is from a couple of days ago. So far there's no video of him thanking himself on St. Patrick's Day with the Irish PM, but I'm hoping that'll be available sometime soon. Keep your fingers crossed! And as usual, enjoy!
  6. It keeps getting better guys! Confirmed: DVDs that Obama gave Gordon Brown are the wrong format Alas, when the PM settled down to begin watching them the other night, he found there was a problem. The films only worked in DVD players made in North America and the words "wrong region" came up on his screen NRO In all fairness to Obama, he has been pretty busy lately. He's got appearances on Jay Leno, and NCAA basketball brackets to fill out, as well as St. Patrick's Day parties at the White House to attend. Did I miss something, or is the financial crisis over?
  7. Well, I'm glad you're honest enough to admit to Dodd's mistake. Unfortunately, I'm not sure he'll have much of a tough time being re-elected in Connecticut.
  8. I'm glad you linked to that story on CNN. Just for punked, I'll enlarge and bold the title. BREAKING: I was responsible for bonus loophole, says Dodd Anyways, I don't necessarily think it's Obama's fault. But it's definitely the fault of Geithner and Summers. After all, it's pretty hard to lay the blame on Obama. He's clearly clueless when it comes to complex econmic issues. Boy would President Mitt Romney sound really good right about now. Oh well, maybe in a few more years. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.
  9. Ok, let's go with your debunked source. "But it was Tim Geithner and Larry Summers who openly criticized Dodd's proposal at the time and insisted that those limitations should apply only to future compensation contracts" Salon So according to your source, it wasn't Dodd, but Geithner and Summers who are to blame. And that somehow makes it better? Instead of a Senator, it was two Obama Administration officials who were directly responsible. Whew, glad you corrected me!
  10. Yeah, and I was able to get Jon Stewart to repeat my "lie." Video: Jon Stewart rips Obama on wounded-vet policy STEWART: You know the veterans? The men and women who risk their lives defending our country? They’re about yay tall, wear green… sometimes tan. They’re this brave. Well, when they get injured, you know who foots the bill? You. The taxpayer. It’s incredibly… fair. That’s why it struck me as a little odd when I read that one of the money saving proposals from the Obama administration was to remove veterans with private insurance plans from the V.A. rolls. So I guess what the government is saying is that if you still need a little rehab after you got that leg blown off in Iraq, the government will cover you! Unless your wife as a little COBRA left over from her substitute teaching gig. In that case, you’re going to have to go with her and the whole deductible thing. Unless, of course, your spouse is in Congress, and then you can get their sweet, sweet government plan. I’ve got some other ideas they might want to try out to save a little money in the military. How about sponsored commendations? For your service, I offer you the Frito Lay Medal of Honor. Here’s another one… how about actual Navy seals? [A picture is shown of a Sea World seal with a sailor hat on.] People would totally pay to see that! Or how about the Arlington National Cemetery and Water Park? WHAT THE F*&K ARE YOU GUYS THINKING!!??? Veterans having to use their private insurance to pay for their combat related injuries? THAT CAN’T BE RIGHT. Link Yes, in the case of military personnel injured in war.
  11. Exactly. Wait till the public finds out about the billions of dollars handed to foreign banks through AIG. Obama: "That's not the AIG that I knew."
  12. Unfortunately you're completely wrong. President Obama signed a bill in which a provision explicitly stated that that these bonuses would be exempted from new corporate compensation rules. The administration official said the Treasury Department did its own legal analysis and concluded that those contracts could not be broken. The official noted that even a provision recently pushed through Congress by Senator Christopher J. Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat, had an exemption for such bonus agreements already in place. The New York Times Stop lying and trying to blame this on Bush. The Bush boogeyman long left the building. This is all on Obama and the Democrats.
  13. In a way you're right. These AIG bonuses have been known about for several months, and were scheduled to kick in at this time. So either the Obama administration is lying, or they're incompetent. It's one or the other. I'm leaning toward incompetent, because it seems to be their calling card. I can't think of a single thing they've handled well since inauguration.
  14. Obama Knew About AIG Bonuses Day Before They Were Paid President Obama was informed about the $165 million in bonuses due to employees of the American Insurance Group the day before they were paid out last week, the White House disclosed late Tuesday. The president did not publicly express anger over the bonuses until after they were disclosed Sunday in The Washington Post. Washington Post So apparently Obama didn't express any displeasure until after negative public reaction.
  15. Yeah he did, in the fall, when the economy was in much better shape, and he was excoriated for it. I'm anxiously awaiting all the media reports, proclaiming Obama out-of-touch with the public, and out-of-step with economic reality. However, I won't hold my breath.
  16. It may have happened, on the odd occasion pertaining to a flight home, but it wasn't government policy. Barack Obama wants to make military personel pay for their own treatment. So ol'Barack can send 17,000 more troops to Afghanistan, but if they're injured there, they foot the bill for their medical care. Huh? Where's the freaking outrage? Come'on forum Obama defenders, defend your Messiah! It has nothing to do with Bush and Cheney. They didn't change government policy. They didn't propose soldiers pay for their medical treatment. The days of the Bush/Cheney boogeyman are over. President Obama is responsible for this fiasco of a policy change, nobody else. Come'on people, defend your Messiah!
  17. The American Legion Strongly Opposed to President's Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases. The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, "This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ' to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America's veterans!" AP I gotta believe there's no way Obama can follow through with this plan. It's more toxic then AIG bailout bonuses. But if he does, then God help him, because his political career is over.
  18. If you bothered to do any reading, you'd have known that the act was to provide assistance with down payments on homes. Not the zero down, no income, no job loans of the Freddie, Fannie, and Democrat variety. Huge difference. Not to mention that 2003 is the same year Bush first tried to reform regulations of the mortgage industry. A problem that Democrats refused to even acknowledge existed. "These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis" "The more people exaggerate these problems, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing"-- Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, September 2003.
  19. Yes, they were absolutely the problem, and it's kind of sad you don't know it. They lowered lending standards, and had a huge stake in the mortage industry. A story from The New York Times, September 30, 1999. Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders. The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring. Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits. The New York Times Consider your bullshitting over.
  20. Just when you think the highest level of incompetence has been reached, the Obama Adminstration reaches just a little more! Third Top Treasury Pick Withdraws From Consideration Democratic sources say that H. Rodgin Cohen, a partner in the New York law firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, and the leading candidate for Deputy Treasury Secretary, has withdrawn from consideration. … Cohen had risen to the top after the withdrawal last week of expected deputy treasury secretary pick Annette Nazareth. Nazareth was forced to withdraw from consideration for the deputy treasury slot because senators made it clear she would face tough questioning over her time at the Securities and Exchange Commission — tenure that overlapped with the agency’s failure to catch Bernie Madoff. And the candidate for Undersecretary for International Affairs, Caroline Atkinson, was told she had to withdraw after a “tax problem” was revealed early in the vetting process, according to officials. ABC News Hope, ineptitude you can believe in!
  21. That simply isn't true. The Government was directly involved in pushing lowered lending practices, and even got in the business for themselves (Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae). It was all about so-called affordable housing. Didn't work out so well, did it?
  22. It would have been even nicer if the Government didn't promote foolish lending, and in some cases, force it.
  23. FBI raids office of D.C. CTO, Obama appointee Federal agents this morning are searching the office Washington, D.C.'s Chief Technology Officer. The search is part of "an ongoing investigation," said a spokeswoman for the FBI's D.C. Field Office, Lindsay Gotwin, said. She declined to comment further on the raid of office, at 1 Judiciary Square. The outgoing Chief Technology Officer, Vivek Kundra, was appointed last week Chief Information Officer by the Obama administration. His last day at the city government office was February 4, a spokeswoman for D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty, Leslie Kershaw, said. He was appointed to the Washington post in 2007. Politico Has there ever been a President who's had more trouble with his appointees than Barack Obama?
  24. Yep, at 24, one can vote, and be a party member. I'm still trying to figure out how she's a Republican authority on anything. But I think I know the reason. She criticized Ann Coulter. If she had criticized Barack Obama, she wouldn't be taken seriously. A recent conference call attended by whom? And I disagree with your entire preimse. It's not "extremist" to be pro-life, pro-death penalty in certain cases, etc. In fact, your characterization of it being extremist, is extremist.
