Ever see the movie John Q with Denzel Washington? I suppose that would be considered Pop-Liberalism.
-
I can't really argue about tastes. If I say I hated Inception and you loved it, not much you can say to convince me otherwise. I just don't like how you somehow typecast this movie as if it's conservative propaganda. Other than the fact that the family in question is clearly conservative I don't see how this movie forwards conservative ideals.
-
I like how when I ask you to address this movie you talk about other movies.

Yet Unionized Teachers had to be incharge. I don't think Daddy Dalton wants to win.

I find it absolutely hilarious that the CBC, a company that receives over a billion dollars in public money refuses to make the switch because they can't afford it. While the private Canadian broadcasters all have complied. The CBC says that they need more money from the government to make the switch.

Please cite portions of the movie you think are exceptionally offensive to you. Is it when the black mom tells the white mom she did her best? Is it when Sandra Bullock threatens the thugs with the gun in her purse. Is it the fact that he was homeless. I really need concrete examples of what you found offensive because this is the first description I've ever seen of this movie. You must have hated the movie Secretariat.

Nothing on Netflix is new. It's nice for when there's nothing on TV you and your wife can agree on I guess. Movie Network with a DVR is much better. Cable and Satellite also offer onDemand services that doesn't eat up as much bandwidth. Without cable you actually have to plan what you're going to watch and download from a bit torrent. Which is illegal. My in-laws have Apple TV. It's kind of cool but it's totally pay-per-view for much of what you want to get. You also can the same functionality from a simple 6-year-old Xbox 360.

Funny had the PC's put a tuition cut in their platform they'd be accused of eroding the tax base. You need look no further than the strike of support workers and Ontario Community colleges to realize why tuition is so high. I think too many students are going to post-secondary school for the wrong reasons. There should be no government subsidies for Liberal Arts degrees or programs that have little or no expectations on the future job market. Money should be funneled to alloying people easier access to industries in demand like the trades and re-training people that find themselves unemployed because the industry they had been working in for years has erroded.

Interesting. No mention of their horrible energy policy? Giving a tax break to someone hiring an immigrant will not go over well. It's ironic that McGuinty would ban opposition parties form their events. I know it's not exactly the same but the CPC took a lot of heat for banning a student that had a pic of herself with Iggy on her facebook page.

I could sort of see bm's point if the movie was 100% fictional. But Micheal Oher is a really person. He currently plays in the NFL. He was taken in by this family. The only fictional aspect of this story I've heard is that Oher wasn't infact ignorant of Football as the movie indicates. The movie and the book's goals are to highlight how important the position of Left Tackle is in Pro Football more than to make a political statement. Anyone who thought this movie was a political statement is a so blinded by their own political agenda that I would think they should be discredited. In their mind the only way a conservative family would take in a black child would be because they saw dollar signs as soon as they realized his athletic ability. Which ironically is highlighted by the NCAA women who sees what the family has done as somehow "paying" a player who should be amateur. I'm surprised Tim McGraw's character hadn't taken heat in this thread since he clearly made his wealth by opening businesses (Taco Bell's) where the employees are paid below standard wages.

Anyone see that ad where Dalton admits he's not popular then lists off some ballwashing facts about Ontario. Anyone do any fact checking on what he's saying? Cuz I don't believe any of it. Ontario has produced more jobs since the recession than all of Canada combined? Maybe jobs at Tim Hortons.
-
I agree, I feel bad about this whole ordeal. Just like to point out one more thing. How could you think anything from Down Under could be sinister? Sounds first class bloaks.
-
But oh well it's not really worth debating this anymore. There are reconcilable differences when it comes to how we see this.
-
Sure I was. It's an issue that goes beyond the issue of a cities waterfront. As someone that lives in the suburbs I have strong opinions of the pros and cons of rampant development. I've seen it work well, and not so well. You just got me on the point that I really have no idea what Waterfront Toronto has or hasn't done, So you're right I can't really back up the fact that they've just been dragging their feet for the last 7 years. That's just what I've heard. I'll totally concede that developers like Mattamy are doing a disservice to communities like mine. Doesn't mean what the Ford's want to do will or won't work. With any business venture there's risk. I suppose there's less risk when you make a government build something because the taxpayer is footing the bill and profit is never the goal.

How typical of a Extreme Liberal to resort into personal insults. If I am to disagree with you on how land should be developed I'm ignorant. If you're the typical Downtowner that Rob Ford was raging against, it's not terribly shocking to me that he got elected with the mandate he did.
-
I have been keeping you going for a page or two. BTW nice Melt. You still have an ideological problem with what the Ford's do. Right and Wrong aren't really at play here, you think they're wrong but I'm sure many think he's right. You're just disagree with what they're trying to. But you disagreed with them getting elected in the first place. You should probably just sit back and take it.
-
No, I'm just playing devil's advocate to piss you off. Quite frankly I don't give a shit. But I do find it very entertaining seeing Lefties meltdown at everything the Ford's do.
-
They get credit for the Corus building and not Corus Entertainment?
-
Dougie said there would be. Oh yeah you don't believe anything he says but you believe everything Waterfront Toronto tells you.
-
Hey man it's obvious you just hate commercialism. You'd pick a government built soccer field or a cricket pitch over a store that employs people and puts money into the economy any day. No real point in debating the benefits with you if you think that opening retail establishments are a bad idea. Remember this development won't be a concrete jungle there will be plenty room for green space.

Wots Gonna Happen when parliament resumes
Boges replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I like how you equate putting violent criminals into prison to "making more criminals" That would tell me enough about your political bias. Multiple time violent offenders should sent to love and kindness camp and not prison. I think they want to get rid of the Long Gun Registry. They do probably want to cut spending and try to return to a balanced budget. Which I support. There was no real incentive in the CPC blowing their wad over the summer by revealing much of their agenda. They already ran on their budget in the May election. What I do predict is that the Opposition NDP will make an absolute fool of themselves without their messianic leader. -
So the show is called The Arena and debuted last night. It had several really good interviews. However I kinda don't like how he's giving Ann Coulter so much run. He talked to her last night and again today. And Right now I'm watching Sid Ryan and David Menzies debate. That's pretty interesting. BTW this Mark Steyn interview was great if you ask me http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/what's-ahead/1136235227001 BTW according to his facebook page the rating were very good.

Other than going to that Mall, what else is there to do in Edmonton, and why would anyone actually want to go there if not to see that Mall?
-
I just used Wal-Mart as an example. I'm guessing to plan here is to attract some high-end commercial establishments. They have this cool promenade type mall at the Fallsview Casino. I don't see why something similar would be bad for Toronto.
-
You mean the Toronto Airport I'm going to assume you also hate? What's original or interesting about Soccer Fields and Parks? The Promenade type Mall and the Luxury Hotel could be kind of cool. Ford's big mistake is saying there'd be a Monorail so people could mock him with the Simpson's episode.
