  1. Those things aren't even comparable. And Maple Syrup is absurdly expensive. The CBC doesn't currently meet it's mandate, It offers similar services as private broadcasters do, but it gets a 1.1 billion dollar head start on them. If they can't survive with private funds then it shouldn't exist.
  2. Because you seem to know when people are lying. It would have been helpful to know if he was lying this past election.
  3. How many Alberta MPs are Liberal?
  4. Indirectly he is. Up until the 2011 election the last PM that won a majority and wasn't from Quebec was Diefenbaker. You have to win Quebec to win a majority. Harper made so many inroads in 2008 but because Quebec didn't like him he was denied a majority. This election changed that because he dominated Ontario. But regardless the critical mass of the population of Canada has moved west and so should the votes.
  5. And I couldn't be happier about it. This'll piss the NDP off as 2/3 of their caucus will be dilluted in next election. It's nice that a PM can win an election in this country without having to pander to a single province anymore.
  6. If a politician can be swayed by a free business class trip from Toronto to Ottawa then I should start bribing them because they appear to be easily swayed by petty bribery.
  7. Oh so now you can tell when people are lying or not. You should have warned us about all those lies Dalton McGuinty told beforehand then.
  8. Apparently she's revealed that she got the upgrade on points. This is such a non-story.
  9. Everyone is assuming stuff here. Some are assuming it's a conflict of interest some are assuming it's a smear job. No one knows. Even if the Air Canada was trying to bribe her, It's on them, not her. She's had this position that AC people can't strike for months now. I don't a single perk like this would really affect public policy. It's sorta like when the PM wanted to go see a hockey game recently people flipped out on him for trying to use his influence to get more tickets. He's sort of the leader of the country. Perhaps he deserves a few perks?
  10. I don't listen Oakley too often. Sometimes I listen to his panels after 9am. He has some pretty left wing folk on. Susan G Cole, Buzz Hargrove etc. Mike Stafford afterwards is fantastic though.
  11. I listen to John Moore in the morning. Hardly a Ford apologist.
  12. But it's Legal. I know the coalition would have been legal but to think that a doofus like Stephan Dion could be PM when he was so clearly rebuked by much of Canada seemed so fundamentally wrong, not just to me but to many in Canada. The CPC was sky high in the polls post coup attempt ERRRR coalition talks.
  13. DVR's FTW. Then again you clearly don't have HBO either.
  14. Not if votes are whipped. I'm sure he'll be fine for much of his mandate. But he can't just approved drastic increases in hydro rates like he has in the past. BTW Regarding Martin's "fiscalness" Funny how it wasn't considered a good thing when Mike Harris used similar measures to get Ontario's books back in order.
  15. Well McGuinty was bribed to put in the HST by . . . The Harper government. McGuinty won again but he took a massive beating in victory. The Conservatives gained 12 seats and the NDP gained 10. Now he doesn't have the ability to do whatever he wants. This seems similar to what happened to the Chretien/Martin Liberals. Look at where they are now.
  16. Signed, 8 years under Harris and 30+ years before the Peterson coalition? Harper's campaign also was about a steady hand through troubling financial times. Sound similar to some Liberal premier some of us might know?
  17. You could argue that painting such a bleak picture of the city's fiscal situation was smart. Now when things don't end up being as bad people with thank Ford. Always under promise and over deliver.
  18. Utter Bullshit. Similar voters voted for the Harper Conservatives in May. The Liberals maintaining the 416 and much of the 905 last week has more to do with the fact Hudak ran a shitteh campaign.
  19. The previous two episodes could have been shoehorned into any part of the season, they weren't really critical to character development. We'll have to see, I won't stop watching yet.
  20. Bob's going after the leftist Newb. (grabs popcorn)
  21. Anyone catch an episode of 2 Broke Girls yet? Throw-away sitcome with some funny lines. No where near as clever as Big Bang Theory. Entertaining enough to check out Kat Denning's chest. http://abazon.blogspot.com/2011/09/kat-dennings.html
  22. What was wrong with the first episode? The last two have been situational with problems to solve, they solve it, they move on. Typical TV stuff. I'm sure the storyline with dood's son doing hyroglifics and the war with the "Sixers" should produce good drama in the coming episodes. I would like them to explore the ramifications of living on a pre-historic earth a bit more however. They are playing to a broad family crowd with the whole nuclear family dynamic.
  23. I guess this proves that the Land Transfer Tax doesn't discourage people from buying in Toronto. It would be interesting to see if Ford is still compelled to increase taxes while still having this additional tax levied on it's residents.
  24. OK fine it was legal. So was Harper's tactic of telling them to take 2 months off and chill. Worked cuz they put Iggy in charge, they backed down and now the Liberals are in bit trouble.
  25. Terra Nova is a really good new show. Boardwalk Empires, Game of Thrones, True Blood and Curb your Enthusiasm are all great HBO shows. Walking Dead starts up again this weekend. Looking forward to that. I'm still a fan of CSI: Vegas. Big Bang Series is one of the funniest shows on TV.
