  1. Then what does income taxes, the heath tax and the HST pay for?
  2. Man South of Bloor progressives are so out of touch with the rest of the country. Let alone the rest of the city. I don't even work in Toronto. I live and work in two different towns outside Toronto and my commute is about 30 minutes. Sometimes I actually get sent to work in the town I live in and only have to drive 3 clicks. But let's say I get laid off and can only find good work in say, Brampton. During rush hour that might take me an hour to get there. Should I sell my modest townhome and move to Brampton. Oh wait I can't cuz my wife works in completely the other direction on the 401. It's not as simple as people who choose to work shitteh Toronto think it is.
  3. Isn't the Gas Tax supposed to do that?
  4. Such an irrelevant argument. I bet you don't own your own home. You buy a house cuz it's in between where you and your wife work. One of you get laid off and can only find a job another 15-20 minutes away. You have to commute or should you just sell your house everytime you change working places.
  5. Perhaps if your office is close to Unions Station and you work a 9-5 job. A monthly pass for GO can go for over $200 in parts of the 905 and you still need to get to the station in your own town. So either you have to pay for 3 separate transit services or pay for a car as well as the GO Train.
  6. What do you think a congestion charge is trying to accomplish? If you live in the 905 and have a career in the 416 you have one of two options, Take the Gardiner or the DVP OR take the GO Train.
  7. Most post-secondary education in Canada is subsidized by the government. So what? In Mississauga, Ontario there is a high-school devoted to exclusively to children that excel at the arts. This women is hitting the gumint up for trips to other places to do her irrelevant form of art. If there is a demand for art you shouldn't need government subsidies.
  8. The idea of road tolls on already existing highways in Toronto is completely absurd. If everyone stopped driving today, the current system of public transit couldn't even come close to accommodating the additional demand. BTW the GO Train is very expensive and very inefficient.
  9. I know this is the Toronto Sun, so it's biased. But it addresses the issue. My link Keep in mind the right-wing city council columnist that works for the Sun is a lesbian. It's not a "homophobic" publication.
  10. LOL quoting Wiki on a messageboard. In his 8 year term was Ontario brought to it's knees? Were people dying in the streets? Was unemployment high? Were we hopelessly in debt?
  11. First of all QuAIA is most certainly anti-semitic, they are also hypocritical, considering Israel is the only nation in the region where homosexuals can actually receive civil rights. Here's a story about the funding being suspended because of them. My link Last year they promised not to allow the group attend. They were given the money and then they were allowed to attend anyway. And regarding Ford's weight. You can say it's a choice to be that fat, fine. But it's also a choice to walk around downtown naked shooting people with a squirt gun and, quite frankly, acting like a flaming homosexual. Sure not everyone that goes to Pride are like that, but that element is certainly evident. Is it being a bigot saying that, perhaps that's not something you may want to partake in?
  12. There's a difference between what this lady does and downtown musicals like say Lion King, Billy Elliot, Phantom, Mamma Mia, etc. Those productions actually make money, people go see them because they are professional and well done. I doubt the productions this lady puts together actually make a red cent. BTW this shet is why the Conservatives didn't win a majority in 2008, Quebecers feel entitled to have their arts paid for by the taxpayer.
  13. Well several public union contracts are up for renewal after the election. We'll probably see a re-hash of what happened when Harris tried to cut spending. I think there's an appetite for Harris-style austerity. No one has ever told me, other than perhaps Walkerton (and there's a debate if it was really his fault) what the Harris government did that was so horrible.
  14. Germany is basically subsidizing this country and in order to keep Greece solvent they have to take control of their books at least a little. I thought the entitlements public services in Canada demanded was crazy. At they don't riot in the street. . . yet. Since when is retiring at 55 a civil right?
  15. Signed, The .0001% of the population that give two shets about modern and interpretive dance.
  16. This is great news. I'm a big fan of his. He's a Christian media personality which is something rare in Canadian media. If anyone watches his show on CTS you'd know he's not into just putting people that agree with him on the air. He's always putting different people with different opinions. I just hope the new show will be a panel discussion like his current show. I find all the shows on Sun News are the same. Host talks, does and interview, talks again, has another Sun News host on to discuss another issue, talks again. Having regular guests on to discuss issues in a group is a far better idea for the show. I guess we'll see.
  17. Good luck trying to lay off nurses of any kind without being accused of supporting people dying in the streets.
  18. Krista Erickson Rawx!!!! I was clearly a set up interview, so she must have known what she was getting into. The topic was wasting taxpayer money. I don't understand, arts is important just cuz? This lady is essentially a public servant. Cuz she makes her living off the taxpayers dime. How is what she does good for the "collective"? Is she a Borg? Has anyone heard of her before this thread?
  19. I really don't want to read 18 pages to see if this issue was addressed. The Anti-Semitic group that was supposed to be banned from the group should have been banned. The Pride Parade lied to city council's face last year and allowed them to march. I think city council has the right to deny funding to parade if they refuse to ban a group that preaches hate. BTW anyone find it ironic that the gay community loves to mock Rob Ford for being obese yes if anyone was to mock the stereotypical traits seen in both gays and lesbians they'd be called a hatred-filled bigot and potentially find themselves in front of a human rights tribunal.
  20. Yeah you can't lock a thread about the Ontario election. But Caledonia is one of several reasons why Daddy Dalton is a horrible excuse for a premier.
  21. Can I please interrupt this epic flame war. Why do you guise keep saying Lasagna? Can someone fill me in on the reference. :blush
  22. The chances of a minority government in Ontario is very slim because there is no Quebec in Ontario to screw things up.
  23. Outside Toronto, parts of Ottawa and maybe Windsor I don't see anywhere right now where Daddy Dalton is popular. The Golden Horseshoe outside of Toronto has about as many people at Toronto. The same people who got Harper his majority in Ontario are running this campaign. They took control of the ethnic vote in the surrounding areas of Toronto.
