It's still beyond my why anyone would want to Occupy Oakland.
-
Mabye they should commit Cyber Terrorism against members of the 1% they are raging against instead of everyone that works for the City of Toronto.
-
If Occupiers believe their "Rights" are being trampled I look forward to seeing the lawsuit that would come from their impending eviction. If it is in fact illegal, I'm sure they have a case. I bet CUPE would even pay for the lawyer.
-
I'm assuming you were referring to the costs incurred by the damages caused by not allowing proper winterization of the park. I think this is a good instance where a pragmatic approach should be taken. Even if they uproot to allow the maintenance to be done and come back the next day. Sure they are! But the MSM news regarding Occupy a month+ out really have nothing to with those things. It's about the protest itself, not the message. Well when people like charter.rights talk about this being about democracy. . . then yeah! Inconvenience = local businesses losing money and massive costs associated with not doing proper maintenance to a park the city owns? If that's your take I hope you enjoy you're trip later this week when they are evicted for those reasons.

Total waste of my time. They could have squeezed an undercard in there instead of ridiculous pre-game profiles. Cain couldn't have lived up to the hype less than with that fight. I don't mind seeing a first round KO when you're investing some money either buying the fight or going to a bar to see it because you know you'll see at least 5 of them. But to devote 1 hour for a single fight? Pretty dumb.

Horvath looks to remove HST from Hydro/Heating

This is why it's imperative for the Minority government to be maintained. The Liberals can't really stop this motion. It's not a confidence motion either so if the Opposition are going to gang up on the Liberals for legislation like this. I'm all for it. -
I'm sure the circulation of a $100 isn't that much. People still use $100 bills, just not for day-to-day transactions. As for the Penny. I kind of agree it should be turfed. Companies will make huge profits rounding every price up 5 cents.

I know. If Football was as popular in Quebec as you'd like to believe they should be able to sell that place out. I think they have in the past actually. I suppose they're apathetic to success.
-
It's just the first step. Change the denomination that's not used often first. $50 is next. Then within 2 years we'll have $5, $10 and $20. These bills will last longer so should save money in the end.

Apparently ratings this year were down. Maybe they shouldn't put it up against NFL football next year. Only 30,000 or so showed up to that playoff game. They say the CFL is so popular in Montreal but it's easy to make the sport seem popular when they play in a stadium smaller than the Arena the Habs play in.

IMHO yes. Cost should be factored into many things. But I find this whole protest a giant waste of time, so I'm sort of biased. The attention this debate is getting is based on the problems caused by the protest not the messages they are trying to pass on to people. To go back to my response to charter.rights asserting this protest is about Democracy. I don't see the huge multi-thousand-people protests going on to support these campers. So is their support really all that great? Let me ask you Shwa. If this protest means so much to you, would you get on the GO-Train and try and stop the police from evicting them?
-
It's a black-white question. If I had said yes then you'd have moaned about how bylaws could be passed infringe on human rights. The constitutional right to protest means people can do whatever they what on public property? Why are their bylaws in place to begin with then? I don't really care about these protesters. Don't live near them so it doesn't affect my life. Just an interesting debate. It's interesting that if they don't leave to allow for winterizing of the park the City's public purse will take a massive hit for the damage that is done. Do the protesters care about this considering the current mayor is looking at cost-cutting?
-
Ok, I'll play ball. No.
-
You have to clarify the question. Which Constitutional Rights are being threatened.
-
So since they haven't found that girl I'm sure people will be moaning and complaining about how crappy that aspect of this story is. Me included, but in having this thread go on and on for so many episodes you can see how it's shaping the characters. They framed Darryl as this caring thug, conflicted with the memory of his brother. I like how Rick accused Shane of not making the tough choices but making the easy choices by always cutting their losses. Shane is all about survival and will do anything to survive but does that exhibit much humanity? What ultimately separates us from the Walkers afterall? I think Andrea shooting Darryl will be a turning point in her character. She'll probably get over the chip on her shoulder and start contributing to the group and not being such a bi-atch. As for the final scene, I've been waiting for it. This is how the whole Herchel farm thread ends, He's a nut job that thinks there will be a cure for the zombie disease so he keeps all his loved ones in a barn. For those that just want to see zombie fights, I'm pretty sure the next episode will have a lot of it. I also don't think they'll be at Herchel's farm very after next week. Will Maggie come withe Glenn and the rest though?

What? Occupy is about Constitutional Rights Now? And are you saying that camping out in a park is a constitutional right? I thought it was about the erosion of the Middle-Class, No wait I thought it was about bringing bankers in another country to justice, No wait I thought it was about Aboriginal rights, No wait It's about taxing the rich right?
-
Really? So is that why only about 500 people have been camping out? That's not exactly an example of a popular uprising.

Former Penn State football coach charged with sex crimes

A more interesting character in this story is the Assistance Coach McQueary. He's the one who witnessed the assault and instead of calling the police he told JoePa. He hasn't been fired but put on administrative leave due to death threats. I can't see him continuing to be a coach in the NCAA. I see him being put in a rock and a hard place. He probably should have called the police immediately but then he probably would have hurt his upward mobility in a program that clearly was thinking about it's reputation more than the welfare of the kids Sandusky assaulted. It's an interesting Case Study on what's the right thing to do. It's similar to an innocent bystander witnessing a crime by a member of a gang. In order for justice to be done you would have to testify and risk your well being. I'm sure that's what this coach was thinking at the time. Hindsight can say he was dead wrong but it's a really tough spot to be in. -
Thanks for this. I would never consider someone making, in the low 6 figure someone who's incredibly wealthy. What's shocking about that stat is about 40% of Canadians make $20,000 or less. I'm curious if that takes into account all workers or everyone. Like say a student who works part-time, retired people or stay-at-home moms with a side gig. Also the more valuable statistic would be household income.

I don't see too many people jumping on Ford for saying the protests should end soon. Which might be positive. Apparently the main reason is the site has to be cleared for winter preparation. Also local businesses have reported a drastic drop in business. You know those 99%ers that are trying to make a living in this tough world. I hear the protesters aren't going to riot like Rick wants but instead will just find another place to Squat ERRRRRR Occupy.

St Louis Blues vs Toronto Maple Leafs
Boges replied to olp1fan's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
Actually Florida is 3rd in the East and Boston is the defending champ. They also have an L to Ottawa after a Back to Back with Pittsburgh and a loss to Philly. Those blow outs were bad but it hardly means the team sucks. There next two games are against the Sens and Coyotes, gonna start thread about those games too? -

Why don't you put this in the Leafs thread I made? You going to start a new thread for each Leafs game now? -
Well some people aren't getting a job for life. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/toronto-city-manager-confirms-layoffs-after-buyouts-miss-target/article2232066/

Man if the NCAA could punish team for morality issues then the entire SEC would have to fold. Players on teams in that conference frequently run into trouble with the laws. The NCAA rules on infractions involved with paying or rewarding players, not indifference involving an assistant coach's criminal behaviour. -
Not in Canada Oh BTW because they made you pay that insurance they don't end up holding the bag for your idiocy. One of the reason's why we didn't have to bail out our banks.
