  1. Those are just renewed calls for more inquiries. No actual proof that there was a CPC conspiracy to rig the election yet after many months.
  2. Well if you were a favourite in your event and you expected Gold. Silver would seem like being a First loser for you. Guys like Usain Bolt or Michael Phelphs don't care about Bronze or Silver. I don't think many Canadians would have been proud of our Canadian Hockey players for getting a Silver in 2010. But then there's a guy like Brent Hayden who won a Bronze in Swimming yesterday. He hadn't won a Medal before so even just getting a Bronze in such a competitive sport like swimming is an accomplishment.
  3. Guess they think people with Journalism degrees think their programming is tripe anyway or be brain-washed to think Liberalism is the only way. They always talk about the "Consensus Media" on Sun News. Things that are just agreed upon without any debate at all.
  4. Yes and I hope I'm wrong. The hurdler who won bronze in 2008 was a pleasant surprise but she failed to qualify for the Olympics. I looked it up. Apparently Canada is expected to medal in three events. http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/2012-summer-games/Canada+long+history+success+sprint+been+long/7032084/story.html Didn't know we had a medal hopeful in the Heptathalon, that should be interesting to watch.
  5. This is going to be a fascinating story. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1236032--mcguinty-threatens-to-recall-house-to-send-teachers-back-to-work So there's no way Dalton is going to let September hit without a contract in place: legislated or not. He's dropped this on the teachers head and now they have a month to do all that work. I love the excuse that all the members are on vacation and that's why these deals can't be reached in a month though. And to boot, the PC's think the deal the province signed with the Catholic union isn't advantageous. It still allows teachers to move up the pay scale over the two years. So what's it going to take for Dalton to get Hudak to agree to legislation? I doubt the Dippers will play ball here.
  6. I remember this was going on the same time as Robo-Call. People were saying Robo-Call wouldn't go away, haven't heard about it in months. Thanks to Liberal idiocy, this issue is back in the news.
  7. And if you're able to sell more products than them, they sue you.
  8. The story of the two Jamaicans (Bolt and Blake) in the 100m and 200m is similar to Phelps and Lochte. Canada stands to win a medal in shot put, but that might be about it.
  9. Pretty shitty. 0 Gold, 2 Silver, 5 Bronze. Keep in mind Canada don't have the Collegiate system to support athletes like the US does. Most athletes need help from the governing government body or the meager corporate sponsors they can attract. Plus the population is 1/10th of the size. That's not that much of an excuse because the Aussies pwn at the Summer games but then again Canada does very well at the Winter Games.
  10. I'll be on record that I love Android but it does make you think a little to enjoy what it offers. I have a gmail and a hotmail. Obviously my gmail is my primary e-mail and I use it for interactions with family, friends and the spam I get on my gmail, I usually don't mind. My hotmail on the other hand I've had since 1997 and I get spam constantly. Regardless I downloaded the app so I can occasionally check for the stuff I find worthwhile in the mountains of spam I don't want. I didn't want any notifications so I turned that feature off. Or I thought I did. I kept getting the audio notification sound for a text message, I pick up the phone. . . nothing. I'm thinking my phone is screwed up because I would get random notification without anything to show for it. Well I do believe it's because of the hotmail app. It's still notifying me of e-mails through an audio notification but nothing else and I can't seem to turn that feature off. So I uninstalled the app and I'm praying that was the problem. But again that's the app and not the phone, the beauty of this Android system is you can play with it constantly and the experience won't get dull.
  11. The Ontario PCs agree. That's what they're calling for.
  12. Nor can I but it was free.
  13. Oh if he does that It'll be great! He'll have to get support from the PCs to get anything done as far as Back to Work Legislation. Will the Dipper prop them if they do that?
  14. Yeah teachers are actually expecting that money. Their opinion is that it's not their fault the province can't afford it anymore. I wonder if some teacher would go so far as to borrow the sum of their already banked sick days and invest that money knowing they'll get the cheque once they retire. I can't say I weep for the teachers on this one, they already have an amazing pension. I'm vehemently anti-McGuinty so anything that makes him look bad is fine by me. The Tories would do the exact same thing McGuinty is trying so really the teachers have no where to turn but the NDP. It'd make them look silly since the Unions have done whatever they could to get Dalton elected in 2007 and 2011.
  15. Very interesting story. http://www.thestar.com/sports/london2012/badminton/article/1235708--london-2012-chinese-badminton-player-yu-yang-quits-sport-after-scandal http://www.thestar.com/sports/london2012/badminton/article/1235164--london-2012-disqualified-badminton-players-unfairly-punished-for-playing-the-long-game Badminton players were throwing games to get a more favourable position in the elimination stage of the women's doubles tournament. It was obvious to everyone watching that they weren't trying. So the top teams were disqualified. Canada who was 0-3 ended up getting a shot in the Quarterfinals and beat the Aussie team yesterday. So they'll actually get a realistic chance to compete for a medal. Would anyone here feel any sense of national pride if Canada actually won a medal here?
  16. And you can also download anti-virus apps to help out.
  17. I feel bad for RIM. BB's are solid devices and I still see lots of people using them. It's just they were way to slow to innovate. The delays on BB10 will likely kill them. When you get new Android phones every few months, people are going to switch if there isn't a spiffy new BB when their contract is up.
  18. It could be good, depending on if NHLers are there, but the time difference is bad. Just about everything important will be happening during business hours or early in the morning. I'm not liking these games for that. Some minor stuff happens in the morning but most of the important stuff is happening at 2:30 pm. At least when the Olympics are in Korea, Japan or China you gets some stuff happening Prime Time and in the Morning. When people are at work in the West, people at the Olympics are sleeping.
  19. I like to carry cash with me too. But I don't use it for gas, groceries, departments stores etc. Credit Cards have the benefit of giving you at least 3 weeks to pay and some benefits whether it be cashback or some form of loyalty points. I do worry about losing my phone with such vital information on it but it never leaves my pocket.
  20. http://www.thestar.com/sports/article/1235315--cbc-to-broadcast-next-two-olymipcs-in-canada I think the Media Consortium has been doing a fantastic job. Nothing wrong with what CBC did but they just don't have the reach that Bell and Rogers do. 4 channels all showing Olympics at once is kind if neat. The time difference for Sochi will be an even bigger pain than here in London, that Olympics might not be great. I'm looking forward to Rio though an Olympic Golf tournament will be very interesting.
  21. What's to stop a parent from sending their child to public school and still teaching them "scary" stuff. Would you also like Sunday School to be made illegal?
  22. The biggest one, though no longer an Olympics sport, is Baseball. Almost everything related to the ins and outs of baseball involved the subjective view of umpires.
  23. I almost never use cash for necessities like gas and groceries. If I need cash there are bank machines a plenty.
  24. I guess that's why Dalton punted it over to the boards to make these deals and if they don't he'll go Rob Ford and legislate terms, they can strike if they want. (pst that strategy worked for Rob Ford)
  25. Many places have NFC using the chip on your credit card currently. The tech will be transferrable. When I use my Mastercard at the Gas Station I just tap a sensor and the payment is made. I can also do that at Loblaw grocery stores for purchases under $50.
