  1. Wouldn't one rather have a job anywhere making $10.25 then making $599 a month on the government doll? Do you have to live in a rural community where there's no work? That's a choice. And the people that are getting denied EI are repeat users or people that have quit.
  2. Don't see how anyone can disagree with this. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1316316--hudak-calls-for-shrinking-cheques-individual-employment-plans-for-welfare-recipients#comments
  3. How do you know it was just after the shooting? was it time stamped? We can play this game both ways. Perhaps they were students running for their lives? Does the absence of an explanation of who these two people are provide evidence that the shooting is a hoax?
  4. I heard the guy who started a website about Sandy Hook Hoaxes on the radio this morning. He sounds exactly like a truther. He cites inconsistencies in police reports and people's stories. Can't really argue with any of that but same with the argument against the 911 conspiracy works. If it was an inside job you'd expect a well co-ordinated event everyone involved would have been told what to say and stories would have matched. But if it wasn't planned then you'd have unexpected things to happen as it did.
  5. I think polls are bogus but most of these polls sample about that many people. They scientifically pick people from different areas to try and build an idea of what the masses think. I'm sure if the poll said 80% of Canadians support the plight of Natives, you wouldn't be criticizing the sample size.
  6. Who here wouldn't feel like doing what this lady did if being blocked like that. http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid868989705001?bckey=AQ~~,AAAAybGjzqk~,6NfTc6c241GVQxOh-GBHNHu5Cuhlf-y9&bctid=2098845632001 I like the lady saying "You're going to kill someone, We might as well call you murderer right now." Not if people quit jumping on the hood of my truck I won't.
  7. Well he was born in Kenya, that's a Muslim country right?
  8. Rocky Road just posted a link to a Globe article about it a few posts earlier.
  9. IdleNoMore is like Occupy Wall Street. There's no centralized leadership so anyone can say they support it if they want.
  10. That Ipsos-Reid poll was cited earlier in this thread. I was about to do it until I saw it already. I wonder how this can be portrayed as propaganda by the #IdleNoMore movement
  11. The whole Toronto Fire Services issue is a good way to illustrate this. Currently they have 101 unoccupied positions, yet they are portraying not filling those spots as cuts. Also studies show that fire calls are a fraction of the calls the Fire Services take. They mostly take Medical calls. Of course they also refuse to be merged with EMS like in many places in the US. Once you give a public service something, taking it away means harm to the public they serve, I just don't buy it.
  12. Sideshow Rob came from the editorial in today's Sun. I'll admit advocating a 2% tax hike only to vote against it to save face is pretty silly.
  13. Looks like most Canadian's patience is waning?
  14. The battleground will be the 905/suburban 416. In the 2011 Federal election it went almost exclusively to the CPC and in the Provincial election the Liberals took a good portion of those seats. Those aren't places the NDP have ever really done well.
  15. I don't mind agreeing with the government on an issue by issue basis. Last year the NDP propped up the budget and the PCs propped up Bill 115. But Horvath has been killing the government (as she should have been) for the past few months for hi-jacking democracy by shutting down the house. I'd like to know what Horvath wants to new Liberal leader to do? Is it about Bill 115? They got a lot what they wanted in the last budget from Dalton.
  16. I think the Province is ready to be rid themselves of the Liberals at this point. The whole reason the House was prorogued was that the opposition was trying to hold them accountable for the Power Plant fiasco. I hope the NDP will continue to demand answers regarding those decisions. If Bill 115 is a non-starter for the NDP then the Liberals and NDP have an immediate void that's going to be tough to fill. That is of course assuming the new Liberal leader will hold the line on the treatment of teachers so far.
  17. If that was true, then why would the NDP be wanting to play nice with the potential Liberal leader? They should be craving an election too. This Liberal leader won't be weaker then before they've had a chance to sit in the Legislator for very long.
  18. http://www.thestar.c...berals#comments She was willing to force an election last Summer if Dalton didn't give in to specific demands like a 2% tax on people making $500,000 or more. The NDP have been killing the Liberals over the treatment of the teachers since September, now they want to be buddies? What will that cost? revoking the imposed Bill 115 contract? Horvath must really think Hudak is a legit threat if she's willing to actually form a coalition with the Liberals. Kathleen Wynne is the more leftist of the likely winners of the Liberal leadership race. Sandra Pupatello is seen as more of a centrist. They are very close when it comes to committed delegates (25% to 27%). I doubt Pupatello will play ball with the NDP but Wynne or Gerrard Kennedy might.
  19. This is why it's good they reformed EI. http://news.national...-charlottetown/ She quit her job!!!! People work decades at a job and get less than a year EI and this woman just gets a doctor to write her a note saying she's under stress and she thinks she can claim EI? Effin' ridiculous!
  20. You probably know more about this than I do. I'm not an expert on Indian affairs but I think the problems they do see are internal. Chief Spence's reserve seems to be well funded. I don't think throwing more taxpayer money will help.
  21. Apps are not the same as widgets. Widgets show the content of the app without actually having to launch the app. BTW, Apple Fail. http://www.thestar.com/living/technology/article/1314725--apple-cuts-orders-for-iphone-5-components-report
  22. Well honestly I don't know why the Natives are doing this whole #IdleNoMore thing in the first place. I think they should be happy with what they have. So know I don't want to see a confrontation. But if they're going to try and take their message mainstream, Only something like blocking the 401 in Toronto at Rush hour will get people's attention.
  23. Well if they're going to do it, Go Big or Go Home right? Most Canadian have no idea why they're pissed, They just need to go to work everyday to pay their bills. Heck, I don't even know why they're pissed, something about treaties with Crown and wanting a say on natural resources on "their" land.
  24. I want to see them try to shut down the 16-lane portion of the 401. I don't take that route to work so it would purely be for entertainment value.
  25. Does Mom's basement count as "alone"?
