  1. Catholic and French teachers made a deal that was the framework for the imposed deal, I believe. I don't think all the sick days were removed. There were some furlough or Dalton Days thrown in that I doubt they're happy about.
  2. Canada won the Spengler Cup last week so SUCK IT!!!
  3. I'm more referring to uninformed current Television viewers who think WW2 was mostly Hitler and Churchill. I think we take for granted what John Q Public knew about what was going on overseas. It's not like there was Internet or even the Evening News. There were papers but all the video people got came from news reels that were played before movies. Did people even know about the Bataan Death march earlier in the war?
  4. Well they needed to find a way to illustrate how horrible the "Japs" were. I'm sure their budget doesn't allow them to actually film combat scenes. It was predictable to paint the fundamentalist Christian guy as the most evil person possible, very Canadian.
  5. This show started up again this week. Good CanCan on Global Wednesday nights. Shocking a Canadian show the CBC doesn't run eh? Very Canadian Liberal feel for a show set during WW2. One of the ladies is thinking about getting about abortion another is a closet lesbian, another is dealing with her wealthy parents and how they are taking advantage of the war effort for their own advantage.
  6. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1310396--idle-no-more-protests-chief-theresa-spence-rejects-atleo-s-meeting-proposal-sets-72-hour-deadline How do you put a 72-hour deadline on a request for a meeting? Will she stop the hunger strike after 3 days? I like how she also wants the GG to attend to meeting. Why not stop there? Demand ER2 comes in from England to discuss the issue after all it's her country that seized this land in the first place right?
  7. Ezra Levant reported that. It of course means it's a lie.
  8. I heard on the news this morning that Harinder Tahkar, a Liberal leadership candidate, would eliminate 3% of non-essential teaching jobs. The number I've heard multiple times yesterday is that since Dalton has been in power the ranks of teachers has swelled by 13,000 while enrollment is down 250,000 or so. Those are pretty damning numbers.
  9. No that would not have been me. Arctic Air has a main character that has been in several big budget US films. I still don't watch it. There's a CanCon show out called Bomb Girls that's really good. It's on Global on Wednesdays.
  10. There is some sentiment that the US is increasingly passing Canada in the Junior ranks. Hockey is a very expensive sport to play for parents, especially at an elite level. It's becoming a sport on the rich can play. That'll hurt Canada in the future. I'm not sure how USA Hockey works but when you consider how hey develop athletes in the other major pro sports and considering their population advantage, Canada does have to do something to better foster better hockey talent talent.
  11. I story popped up on my phone that says she's in horrible medical shape. I think she was in horrible shape before the hunger strike. :-/ Apparently she wants a 2 week audience with the PM? Who gets that? If the PM gives in then that means anyone that wants to have a chat with the MP can just threaten to kill themselves over the course of a few weeks.
  12. I find it amusing that an American checks out the CBC.
  13. Which is why we should let them sell beer. Wait different thread.
  14. You'd think more people would want to comment on this issue. The issue has finally come to a head. Anymore work stoppage will be seen as illegal according to the minister today.
  15. Well we don't know why these people own the guns. It's not like this newspaper asked them or anything did they?

  17. Do you know that for sure? How much money does she make? how many politicians do they have? How much money does it receive?
  18. Would you at least agree that it's hypocritical hire armed guards after publicly outing people for being armed? Or is it OK to be protected by firearms only when you receive death threats.
  19. Either Ezra is lying or these facts look pretty damning for everyone's favourite, dieter, I mean Hunger Strike activist.
  20. Maybe not harm but public pressure. Hey you own a gun, you should be ostracized! That's backfired horribly from what I've heard from this story. It's ironic that they used armed guards to potentially defend themselves from potential harm. That's likely why the people they exposed own guns as well, but they don't have the means to hire armed guards.
  21. You need armed guards to protect you from the blowback from shaming people that own legal firearms for protection.
  22. This is rather ironic. http://www.thestar.c...-for-protection You try to shame people that presumably own firearms for personal protection and when you get a negative reaction for your actions you hire armed guards for personal protection.
  23. They'll impose a contract then repeal Bill 115 so it's not a symbolic lighting rod anymore. This is certainly a Half-Measure.
  24. There's nothing wrong with having canvas bags around. Plastic bag consumption has decreased since stores have been imposing a charge for bags. BUT to outright ban them is silly. I keep extra bags in the trunk of my car for unexpected trips to the grocery store. But sometimes I run out. I don't think I have them in there right now and I'm planning to go to No Frills after work. I don't mind spending 5 cents for the good quality bag they offer, and that bag will be used as a garbage bag later. But to pay $1 for a canvas bag every time I forget is even more wasteful. I have a ton of Canvas bags already. If I find I have a glut of plastic bags, theres a bin at Wal-Mart I can dump them in to be recycled. It's a pretty good system.
