  1. Yeah but the Democrats aren't compromising, it's their fault. . . clearly.
  2. There isn't any. But don't say it's a forgone conclusion she'll run . . . until she says she's going to run. Ditto with Tory, I'm very skeptical he's going to run.
  3. Beauchemin has landed on his feet in Anaheim, got us Lupul which is cool. LOL at Komisarek.
  4. That's not clear at all. Why hasn't Chow announced plans to run yet? What about Adam Vaughan? Adam Giamboner?
  5. Sure but polls saying how Ford would fare against a completely hypothetical cast of candidates means nothing IMHO. Now his approval rating kinda does.
  6. The clear difference is Boston didn't get multiple First rounders for Seguin.
  7. I think the current cast of defenders the Leafs have are fine. They just had to waive John Michael-Lilles because there was no room on the Top 6 for him. People say Phaneuf is a bum but then he has a game like last night.
  8. Other candidates are kind of irrelevant because it's all hypothetical until January 1, when they call can start campaigning.
  9. I do too. I don't think Stintz have a shot anymore, her flip-flop on the Subway has made her unelectable. I'll believe Tory is going to run when he announces it. He's got so many jobs going right now it's hard to believe he wants to give all that up to go back to the gauntlet that's politics.
  10. It is when the closest guy to him got 35%. Now you could blame that on Joey Pants but only if you assume every single person that voted for Pants would have voted for Smitherman had he bowed out. I guess if Chow went unopposed up against Ford then there'd be a race, but would people in the Burbs really choose her over Ford? We'll see I guess.
  11. I was as critical as anyone over the Kessel trade but it appears Burkie hit a home run here. Tyler Seguin is already out of Boston.
  12. That story is over a month old. This one is from last week. http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2013/09/25/mayor_rob_fords_popularity_climbs_to_nearly_half_in_latest_poll.html
  13. I think people have made up their mind about the crack video, I think people just don't care at this point. From what I've heard the info about the alleged crack video will be sealed until the trials of the people charged is over. Remember during the election campaign it came out that Ford got a DUI and was charged for simple possession of weed. Still won by a landslide.
  14. His approval ratings are still high.
  15. Someone pointed out this stat to me about the Grabo Hat Trick. His +/- is still at 0. So he was also on the ice for 4 of the Black Hawks goals.
  16. What the GOP is doing is most certainly childish. A Law was passed by the proper routes, SCOTUS says it's Constitutional, and The GOP have tried and failed to repeal the law 41 times. The GOP presidential candidate lost the election with repealing the law as a major plank of his platform. There's most certainly a mandate for ObamaCare. I don't see how anyone can justify what they're doing right now.
  17. I'm not arguing with any of this. Itlooks bad on the mayor. But I'm curious, will any of the opponents of Ford use his alleged drug use or the company keeps as fuel against him in the coming election. I doubt they will. It's starting to appear as Ford will be re-elected.
  18. Tom Clancy died. Is it bad that I know him best for the Video Games with his name on them?

His first became a great movie for the times, Hunt For Red October

Great movie. Loved Connery's Scottish version of a Russian captain. That dude could not act...he was the same guy in every movie. Fortunately, I love that character.

He used to write good books. Then he became full of himself, told his editor to take a hide, and started producing dreck. Hasn't had a good book in over a decade.

  19. Perhaps but he was rather useless last year for the Leafs. I'd be more concerned with the lose of Clarke MacArthur.
  20. On Pace for 82-0! That Mason Raymond signing seems to have worked out OK. Let's see how Bernier does tonight.
  21. As the season starts look at the standings online or in your paper. The Leafs, Habs and Sens are in the Atlantic Division. If that makes any sense. Toronto is in the Atlantic Division in Basketball. Then there's the Pacific Division and the Central Division out West. And the former Atlantic Division with Columbus and Carolina tacked on is now called . . . Wait for it. . . The Metropolitan Division. For short call them The Mets. :-D Would it have hurt them to go back to Patrick, Adams, Norris and Smyth?
  22. Nope, that's not what I'm saying at all. It appears what they're going through is Hell and that's very unfortunate. I guess my question for discussion here is are we to contend that a Canadian citizenship should act as a Get out of Jail free card if people run a foul in a country that doesn't share our values in regards to justice?
  23. I'm not saying what these men are going through isn't horribly unjust. And hopefully they are released if not charged with some legit crime. All I'm saying is that if you go to a country where the government's human rights records are sketchy, it shouldn't be surprising if your human rights are violated. Especially if you're going there with political motives.
  24. Nope. Not sure they'd go into war zones like that for political reasons though. I am shocked there's no high-profile examples of Christian missionaries getting caught in Muslim countries. It seems they only go to African nations were Christianity is the top religion. Just that people are selective about their outrage. The irony is they went to protest Israel. Something like this would likely never have happened had they been in Israel. Of course it's not, but how can Canada refute the allegations? We don't have any evidence to the contrary. I think this story brings to light the issue of how much are we to expect Canada to help citizens abroad. The Canadians in Lebanon that asked to be saved by Canada in 2006 are a good example of this. Many hadn't lived in Canada for years.
  25. Do you think people would grow pot at home if their were similar restrictions?
