This is clearly evidence that the West must do whatever it can to appease Putin and stave off Nuclear War. That always works with these guys right? ?

Is this like the first Modern POTUS ever to visit an active warzone where the US didn't control the Airspace? I can't imagine FDR ever visited anywhere where the Allies didn't control the area. They gave Russia the heads up almost daring them to try something.

What has happened to the Democratic Party?
Boges replied to Mako's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The scope of the investigation was quite limited. AG Barr absolved Trump before the findings were even made public. Trump has praised Putin on multiple occasions. Talking heads like Tucker Carlson are basically propagandists for the Kremlin. It's quite the divide in the party actually as Senate leader McConnell has come out quite strongly on supporting the Defense of Ukraine. BTW it was actually Biden who brought the last troops home. -

They've been a Putin Puppet party since Trump. You have a faction of the GOP and Right that are rooting on Putin in Ukraine. -
Can you cite that claim? I think only the Toronto team isn't supported properly. Lots of sports are subsidized. Hockey much Federal Money was given to Hockey Canada before we found out they had a Sexual Assault Legal Slush fund?

Democrats now attacking SUBURBS

Think again. https://realestatemagazine.ca/end-exclusionary-single-family-zoning-says-orea/ Sure. But this narratives flies in the face of your narrative that these efforts to increase densification is just a way to bring in "undesirables". OK but that's not what's being advocated for here. The Opinion piece you cite mentions that the Biden Administration and some states are moving to encourage cities to allow for higher density housing. Not Free, but with more housing the values stabilize or drop. I can see why people who already live their oppose this, they want their housing value to go up. But this speaks to a problem in North America. Once you're in. . NIMBY. -
This I was wondering why no one was commenting in the thread I created. I even checked to see if there was already one. Wouldn't have expected one in this room.

Toronto Mayor to Resign over Workplace Affair
Boges replied to Boges's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Apparently he's staying until he can get his budget passed. DoFo gave the Toronto Mayor "Strong Mayor" powers. Apparently an interim Mayor won't have such powers. -

I think many young people would do well to start a trade. But that's not for everyone. Sure. This doesn't address that creating Suburb with only Single-Family homes in mind has many harmful effects on the price of Real Estate as the population grows. I actually know people in Florida that saw their rent prices increase to the point of being unaffordable, forcing them out of their house an into an RV. A person that has worked hard their entire life. You'd oppose affordable housing for those people calling them animals because they suddenly can't afford to buy a house in the city they grew up in. -

So all these Boomers who had good jobs that required no higher education can buy homes inline with their wages but young people today can pound salt and commute 2 hours a day if they want to live in a single-family home. The price of higher education has also skyrocketed in recent years. -

It's a lot easier to earn your home when your wages were in line with Real Estate. https://betterdwelling.com/canadian-real-estate-prices-are-growing-over-10x-the-rate-of-incomes/ -

Joe does have a lot to say with how Federal Funds are spent. If towns don't want to play ball they can forfeit the funding. $300,000 for a single family home? Must be a crappy town, or very rural. See young professional may be able to afford homes in small towns. But the types of jobs they needs to afford such homes are in the cities you decry. So they're forced into long commutes that destroy their quality of life. -

Populations grow and you have these laws that don't allow for housing to keep up with growth by forcing municipalities to only zone for Single Family Homes. So those homes go up in value. You also have investment from people who have no plan to live in the home that's increased value: Short-term rentals or foreign investment. Canada has looked to tackle the latter recently. You want to paint all people looking for Affordable housing as a Drug Dealers and Rabble. It's simply not the case. See what's happening in San Fran? That's what happens when young intelligent people can't afford to live where they work. Would you prefer a homeless problem in Suburbs? -

The biggest irony is that the only way many young families can afford to live in the Burbs is with help from mommy and daddy. So it's an example of how Generational Wealth perpetuates privilege from one generation to the next. -

The problem is that with current Real Estate, scrimping and saving isn't enough. Buying a Single-Family home is simply unaffordable for most families. The dream of home ownership is out of many people's reach because Real Estate has risen way higher than wages. You frame this as the rabble coming in from the city to ruin Suburbs. But that's not the case. It's young people just wanted to find a place to live. As someone who does have a home in a Suburb, you see this weird scenario where young people move in and their modest home is a huge investment, and you see old boomers living in their rundown homes they've owned since the 80's, but because of the nature of Real Estate, they're sitting on a Gold mine. It's pretty interesting.
