  1. Modern fast chargers have cooling systems. Though these batteries aren't really meant to Fast Charge every day. The idea is charge overnight on a 30 amp outlet. Most modern EVs can charge in under 30 minutes, for Roadtrip purposes.
  2. Cite where you JT has called you a bad person for driving an ICE. They've set a goal, but if no one buys EVs then that goal is moot. Right now, I'd contend the biggest obstacle to EV adoption is availability, not the concerns you bring up. As more people do adopt EVs it'll become harder to find gas stations, and they'll probably charge even more because it'll be financially more difficult to ship liquid fuel to every street corner. And BTW, just because you specifically don't care about Climate change, doesn't mean a good chunk of the population agree. You'll find some serious inconvenience when Carbon Taxes make affording gas an issue for many people.
  3. That's such a narrow view of the divide between EVs and ICE vehicles. If you're driving a car over 300 kms a day and filling up every day, I guess EV tech isn't there for you . . . yet. But if you have Home Charging, you barely have to think about re-filling. It's full in the morning and unless you're driving an ungodly amount throughout the day you'll be fine. But I can't fill up in 5 minutes!!!! This will never work!!!! Awww muffin.
  4. We've been over this. They're mostly compact cars that are usually poorly equipped. Having them nicely equipped will likely bring them over $30k. But again, if you're in the market for a 25K New car, you're not going be getting an EV yet. Asian Automakers are the only ones that even play in the Compact sector anymore.
  5. That's my situation. The hybrid is an option when range anxiety is real. You'll see people say EVs are too expensive, but they want to do lots of roadtrips in big SUVs. Do you want your transportation to be affordable or not? New Tech always relies on early adopters who are willing to sacrifice on a few things.
  6. And how many of these families that do roadtrips every weekend, don't already have multiple vehicles for different purposes. Opponents talk out of both sides of their ass.
  7. Solving the problem would be not driving private cars anymore. But that's Agenda 21 BS right? Battery tech has lots of room for improvement. The ICE model has seemingly maxed out on all possible efficiencies. Perhaps cite what you're getting at here. If you own a garage and drive under 200 kms a day, why wouldn't an EV be for you?
  8. We've been over all the points you've made in this post in this thread. The new one is now that they're ugly because they don't have Grilles? I've said over and over again, that EVs in their current form, are not for everyone and infrastructure will need to be built up. Which is actually the point of the OP. We keep getting cheaper EVs (relative to ICE vehicles) and ones with higher ranges. That will continue as the decade moves on. And Battery tech will likely move away from some of the more problematic and difficult minerals. To say that EV battery tech is worse than continuing to rely on infrastructure that has oil drilled, refined and transported to within 5 kms of everyone in this country is laughable. But some people are outright Anti-EV as if it's some socialist plot.
  9. I, more or less, work from the office most days, but can work from home when required. But I actually have an office at work, I don't have people walking by seeing everything I do. For those that work in open concept environments, I would not want to be required to go back to that. It's the open concept environments that hamper good productivity.
  10. Well if that's the excuse not to get an EV, we're entering some slim pickens territory.
  11. I think the difference is the fact that EVs don't require much internal cooling so the front-ends don't have Grilles. So you get an EV that looks like this: VS it's ICE counterpart.
  12. You need to be very wealthy to be able to afford a larger home in a big city, any big city. It's not desirable to raise a family in a Studio apartment. So families move to the burbs. It's always desirable to live in a walkable community. So communities like that will experience demand that outstrips supply and the prices continue to go up. Regarding Welfare, big cities have the tax base to provide social safety net programs. So if you're down on your luck, you may go into cities to take advantage of shelter systems and the like. Where as, middle-income families may move out of big cities to avoid that type of thing. An unintended consequence of the Pandemic will be to hollow out cities as commuting becomes less a requirement for many White-Collar jobs.
  13. I suspect those are the same things you'd find issue with any large cities. In North America it's a predictable model. Large core of Liberals, Centrist Suburbs and Conservative Rural areas. You align yourself with the Conservative Rural lot. And that's cool.
  14. That's a subjective opinion. I think the Ioniq 5 is a cool looking car. Teslas are ugly?
  15. By letting people migrate there?
  16. Are there any large cities that would have the demographics and policies you approve of?
  17. The OP title is somewhat misleading. A group has petitioned the CRTC to ban Fox, but it has not made a decision. It has allowed for consultation on the matter. I guess if it can be proven that Fox espouses hate speech, they may have a case. The political spectrum really is a circle. The fringes of just want to ban the other side. I don't watch Fox, I sometimes listen on Satellite Radio when something relevant in US politics is happening. A majority of the programming resembles normal news, but the Talking heads in Primetime delve into much more controversial territory.
  18. Are there any large cities that don't deal with affordability and traffic?
  19. Angry Boomer says what?
  20. A hobby of mine is to check Twitter Hashtags like #longcovid, #maskup, #covidisntover and people outraged and fretful that life has gone back to normal. Is this something only observable on Twitter?

  21. Would you balk at someone spending $80k on an ICE Pickup Truck? You can get a Tesla for cheaper than $80k. And the pledge is to remove new sales by 2035, I know you're not terrific at math, but that's 12 years. Most car companies have also started a transition. There are EV options that are well under $40k. And as discussed in this thread already, most decent cars are well over $30k new. If you want something under $30k you'll be getting a base model compact. You'd be better off buying a used car. Which is something that will still be possible with ICE vehicles in 2035. I was in the market for a new car. My Domestic ICE Compact was becoming unreliable (Check Engine Lights and such). I drive 100 kms a day when commuting to work, my wife works in-town, so making a move to an EV that never has a range under 150 kms (usually 250-300 kms) seemed like the smart thing to do. Now I don't need to do oil changes, and I can charge at home. My other Car is a Hybrid that is over 100,000 kms that I own outright. So, like you, I want that car to last longer. Therefore I reduced it's burden with my EV.
  22. Blu-Rays were are a video playing format, not a stereo. Forgive me if I don't take your opinions on technology all that seriously.
  23. Well because this couple is having issues, then the entire EV industry is a shame. No mention that commute 200 kms a day is an abysmal existence. Maybe make better life choices. Also No mention if this is just an issue with Cold weather driving or all together range in the article. My anecdotal evidence is a I get the advertised range during summer weather and it goes down in the winter, but I would need to take that into considering. Maybe CTV will do a news story about my experience. ? Also, Newsflash, ICE vehicles range drops in Cold weather as well. The Automakers don't advertise that either.
  24. The Florida Panthers are restricting purchasing of Playoff tickets to US residents only. Afraid of Leaf nations much?

  25. They kind of did by allowing these new sites to operate. They could just make it ProLine you could bet on sports, like had been the case for decades before. But now these sites are flooding sports media with ads. It's a bit of a cesspool right now.
