Austria set to lockdown unvaccinated people amid a surge in cases and hospitalizations amongst unvaccinated.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59245018
QuoteChancellor Alexander Schallenberg said a national lockdown for the unvaccinated was "probably inevitable".
Two-thirds of people should not suffer because others were hesitant, he said.

It's essentially house arrest.

Some, like a handful of people. Mostly from the AZ vaccine.
-
A handful? Like 5 or less? ?

I posted something similar in another thread.
QuotePublic Health Ontario says all deaths following vaccination that are reported to public health units are thoroughly investigated, and it has so far determined in one case that vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia was a cause of death in someone who received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
There are seven other reports of death after COVID-19 vaccination that meet the provincial surveillance definition. In four, the adverse events were found to have possibly contributed to the death but were not the underlying cause, and in the remaining three the vaccine was not a cause of death.
Public Health Ontario says another 30 deaths following COVID-19 vaccination that have been reported to public health units are "persons under investigation." They don't meet the provincial surveillance definition, but investigations are underway.
"Preliminary information suggests that these events occurred in individuals with multiple co-morbidities which may be related to the cause of death," a recent Public Health Ontario report said. "There has been no association with the vaccine identified at this time."

Saskatchewan PPC Candidate who spread Anti-vax propaganda is intubated and one of the Sask ICU patients sent to Ontario. He's only 48.
Karma is a pretty apt word for this.
-
If anyone else needs that ICU bed for a non-Covid reason they should boot him out and give the bed to the other person.

Why do you feel the need to lie about him? He wasn’t anti vaxx, and he’s been in the hospital for pneumonia. Is pneumonia now covid? Everything is apparently covid to you pathetic religious zealots.
-
-
Saskatchewan is sending ICU patients to Ontario and needs the military helps with their COVID situation. This is what happens when proper COVID precautions are not taken. AND when public health measures are lifted too early.
Saskatchewan has more people hospitalized with COVID than in all of Ontario currently.

So that's one Hospital postponing 7 surgeries. Not an entire province cancelling them all until further notice.
-
Hahaha, that's cute that you think it's just one hospital, one time, in one province that ever cancelled surgeries during flu season. You are a special kind of willfully blind.

It’s a religion to these people. They’re ignorant because the media doesn’t broadcast flu season problems on a daily basis like they do with covid.

The "Big Boys" didn't because they had the supply up front.
It was a pragmatic approach to get people vaccinated ASAP. As an anti-vaxxer, I doubt you'd appreciate that. It's not required anymore, but it was prudent at the time.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/mixing-vaccines-canada-1.6123155
And I know you want to ignore it, but studies have shown that it's effective.
Here's an article from your friends in Sweden.
https://scitechdaily.com/research-shows-high-effectiveness-of-mix-and-match-covid-19-vaccines/
QuotePeople who had received a first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and received an mRNA vaccine for their second dose had a lower risk of infection compared to people who had received both doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. This is shown in a nationwide study performed by researchers at Umeå University, Sweden.
“Having received any of the approved vaccines is better compared to no vaccine, and two doses are better than one,” says Peter Nordström, professor of geriatric medicine at Umeå University. “However, our study shows a greater risk reduction for people who received an mRNA vaccine after having received a first dose of a vector-based, as compared to people having received the vector-based vaccine for both doses.”
-
The date on the article is October 2021. Do you have a cite before this? One that would have been available at the time they decided to mix ‘n match? Or did they just take a gamble with your life.
Thats the problem, when I say reckless approach. The fact it worked out for the better does not preclude this.
-
Here's one from June citing the research used to make the decision.
QuoteThe updated NACI guidance is based on emerging research from Spain and the United Kingdom that found mixing and matching AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines was both safe and effective at preventing COVID-19.
CBC News first reported the details of the recommendation changes Tuesday morning, based on information from sources with direct knowledge of the decision who spoke on condition of anonymity. The details of the shift in guidance were confirmed publicly by officials from the Public Health Agency of Canada during a news conference Tuesday afternoon.
I'm not sure why you're upset for people who eagerly took the AZ vaccine ASAP.
You just want to complain about something? There certainly no mandate at the time and short of some isolated cases of blood clots, the AZ vaccine still has proven to be quite safe. ALSO everyone who took the AZ vaccine knew the risk at the time.

General Colin Powell dies of the Rona.

-
He probably did. He may not have had a lot longer anyway but Covid tipped him over the edge.
-
It’s too bad the same standard would be applied to other deaths not just Colin Powell. It could be pointed out the majority of the time that anyone that dies of covid related problems is generally older and in poor health.
-
His condition could have been stable until he caught Covid. It's too bad the anti vaxxers won't recognize that.

You are free to snort or inject illegal chemicals made in some garage without a doctors authorization. That would be you alright.
Yes that comparison to covid vaccines is very apt.
-
It’s illegal because we’ve made it illegal. There is no right to a product somebody else makes. But I do tend to sympathize with the libertarian view that you should be able to. Regardless, it’s not the same thing as forcing somebody to put something into their body against their will. It’s funny to see the people that insist nobody is being forced, arguing that in fact people should be forced! Oh the irony!

Nice to see full crowds at sporting events in Canada again.
-
I'm surprised you're attending a live game? I mean, the Canadian government has given unvaccinated players exemptions to be able to play here. Aren't you the one terrified of unvaccinated people? (Haha, they won't give exemptions to their own citizens to be able to go to the gym, but they give them to sports teams from the US, so I guess unvaccinated people aren't really as "diseased" as you've been led to believe.)

CNN's Sanjay Gupta was on Joe Rogan this week. Though I have no listened yet (It's 3 effin hours). His synopsis cites these two citations on infection rates amongst vaccinated people. https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/13/health/sanjay-gupta-joe-rogan-experience/index.html
They are 8 times less likely to be infected by the Delta variant. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/effectiveness/why-measure-effectiveness/breakthrough-cases.html
And when infected, they are contagious for a much shorter period of time. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.02.16.21251535v3

I’ve read that the odds are between 1 and 5000-10000.
-
Boges has not listened yet but already believes everything.
He got his synopsis from Don Lemon's soundbites.

Sanjay had a tough time answering as to why CNN lied about the medication Rogan was prescribed. He agreed with Joe that it shouldn’t have been characterized that way.

I'm sure cross-border shoppers are eager to pay $200 each way for PCR tests to get some great savings at some shitty US Outlet Mall.

Or Canada. Where this kind of Big Pharma extortion doesn't happen.
-
Wouldnt this benefit people who get covid, even if vaccinated?
And for the unvaccinated as well. The vaccine doesnt save you once you get covid, but certain drugs will.
I see no reason to be a partisan dickhead over all things covid.
-
Sure, but Merk is profiteering. If I was Health Canada, I wouldn't buy the drug at that price.
Which speaks to the weakness in the American Healthcare model.
And the vaccine does save you if you get a breakthrough infection. It almost eliminates severe sickness and death even if you get infection.

Should be investing in battery development and clean energy. Not fossil fuels.
All developed nations are doing it.
-
We don’t need to invest anything in oil and gas. We just don’t need to arbitrarily burden the industry. Investing in battery development is fine. Tesla’s already doing that. As are other companies. It’s not an either or. That’s a false choice.
-
The oil and gas industry gets a lot of subsidies from the government. That needs to stop.
We need to subsidize clean energy and batter tech.
-
Vaccine mandates really do work! Alberta's first dose vaccination rate is higher than Ontario now.

Yes, use of force does work. I don’t think anybody disputed that. Regardless, violating people’s rights is wrong.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/cihi-covid19-canada-hospital-cost-1.6168531
The average cost of treating a COVID-19 patient who needs intensive care in Canada is estimated at more than $50,000, compared with $8,400 for someone who's had a heart attack, a new report says.
Average cost for a vaccine is about $10 per dose. I think folks like Shady should pay their own hospital bills and not waste taxpayers money.

SCIENCE!!!! Canadian Medical Association Study.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/delta-variant-impact-study-1.6200066
QuoteAmong delta cases, they found a 108 per cent increased risk for hospitalization, 235 per cent increased risk for ICU admission and 133 per cent increased risk for death compared to the original virus strain.
QuoteThe study found people infected with variants of concern were significantly younger and less likely to have comorbidities than those with non-variant infections, and the increased risk of adverse outcomes from variants persisted even after researchers adjusted for age, sex, comorbidities and other factors.
QuoteFisman said one of the main reasons delta didn't devastate its way through Canada the same way it did in India was because the variant emerged here just as vaccinations were ramping up.
-
Yes, brought to you by the president of covid panic porn. The man who resigned in Ontario because he insisted that the government was keeping a secret report that Ontario was in reality going to have a grim fall. Overwhelmed by hospitalizations and 4000+ cases by October. He’s a propagandist.

You still haven't given a cite for that claim.
The CMA isn't just one person.
Can you deny the findings of the study?

Oxford Study. 1/3 of COVID survivors experience symptoms 3-6 months after diagnosis.
Long COVID is no joke.

A 1 in 3 chance of persisting symptoms for months after infection.
That alone should be worth getting the vaccine for any sensible human.
Anti-Vaxxers are not sensible.
-
“the picture provided by the study is imperfect: It could only capture those who reported symptoms, not those who didn’t”
The study doesn’t say anything about who was selected. Was it older sicker people vs healthier. The fact is, depending on your health, covid will affect you very differently. You Branch Covidians still refuse to accept that scientific fact. And you still refuse to acknowledge natural immunity. A scientific fact. But then you pretend to rely on science. You discount non peer reviewed studies because they go against your religion, but then post flawed non peer reviewed studies that support your zealotry. You people need professional help. -
I think you don't read well.
I've never questioned natural immunity. But even your shitty Macabi study says that previous infection and vaccination provide even greater protections.
