Paris might be problem for Trudeau

Trudeau campaigned that he was going to stop the bombing of ISIS immediately. How long ago was that? His lack of foresight is alarming. I think he could build a house and decide not to put a bathroom in it if he didn't have to take a dump while he was drawing up the plans. -
Argus you sound like one of those people who could justify anything that "your side" does to "their side". Are you even aware of the slightest thing that happened to the Palestinians that might have made them a bit angry? Something that they might have retaliated for? Or do the Israelis have the sacred right to retaliation by definition? You think that you are the protector of Jews and that I am a hateful anti-semitist but the ironic reality is that people with the same "ability to focus" that you possess joined the SS during WWII. I can see the problems from both sides face, the damage that both sides do. All I ever did here is draw attention to the fact that the Israelis aren't as pure as the driven snow, which is by far the popular opinion among canadians. I never said that everything was a-ok in every other country in the middle east, that's a straw man argument. You could say the exact same things about countries in Africa, Asia, or South America and they don't all share the same religion.

So what you're saying is that you have to look at it from an illogical angle in order for it to make some sense lol.

Paris might be problem for Trudeau

My guess is that the "dumb policy" he is referring to is swamping our immigration officials with 25,000 refugees before January. -

This isn't an issue of "partisan politics", it was a central issue to some people not having confidence in Justin Trudeau in the first place. He played the wide-eyed optimist for his political campaign and he displayed an alarming lack of concern for very real dangers that everyone else in the world was acutely aware of. Not even 2 weeks into his term those dangers have come to the forefront. How much more danger are we going to be exposed to when his wide-eyed optimism brings 25,000 people in from the world's biggest terrorist hotbed? Isn't it at least a little bit concerning to you that his foresight didn't extend past 13 days into his reign as PM? Why didn't he play his eternal optimist card to Hollande or Obama yesterday? Is he already abandoning it? Will he stop fighting ISIS now? Is he still force-feeding us 25,000 refugees? Hopefully the reality of policing 10 million square kilometres of Canada from terrorism is finally dawning on him. That's a lot of malls, schools and other public places full of innocent canadians to be responsible for. -
i misunderstood her the first time I heard it, I wasn't in the living room. She said agenda not platform but her comments were as ignorant and biased. Re-electing the Conservatives wasn't the main issue. Not electing Trudeau was the main issue. I find it hilarious that Canadian voters see him as a positive person after 4 years of bitching, griping and acting like a spoiled kid. Him threatening to do no better than sabotage parliament for the whole term of the next govt if the CP got a minority was just another insight into who we just elected. The 50% female cabinet was his first major move after being elected, and what's the solid reasoning behind that? There is none. It was all politics, and Canadians elected him to do what's best for the country not just to pla the politically correct buffoon. Doing what's best for the country is something something he completely neglected as a member of the opposition and he's still doing it as the PM.

Harper put ideology ahead of health
WestCanMan replied to ReeferMadness's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No difference between the new snake oil and the crap that big pharm has been pushing for the last fifty years. Most of the health problems that Canadians face could be cured by eating a few salads and getting off the couch but everyone wants a pill. -
I was just watching CBC at issue, I can't stand that foolish black haired francophone woman. Her comment today was basically that "we just had the first conservative govt in decades with a decent political platform (the last Harper govt) and they failed to deliver". I'm paraphrasing, I saw it about fifteen minutes ago. Then she said that 66% of Canadians voted against the conservatives like they do in every election. What an idiot. More people than that vote against the ndp every time and that many people always vote against the liberals as well. Not to mention that almost no one voted liberal in the previous election. /rant

He has two options: 1) say that there aren't enough qualified people to process all the claimants because Harper was a callous bastard who intentionally allowed the refugee processing system atrophy, or 2) just open the floodgates and let in some more radicals to pray with in his local mosque (if anything from the truth about Liberals thread is to be believed).

With all the knowledge that we have about the universe it's hard to understand how anyone can believe in any creation-based religion unless they were duped, brainwashed and/or forced to follow it from birth, but I don't like to be the guy to tell a person that there's no Santa Claus. Especially when they will kill you for it.

I was going to come on here and respond to the rest of your post but now that I read it I find that it's mostly just personal attacks against me, even to the point of you being a fear monger. You shouldn't cause fear without good reason and all I did was enlighten people to things that you'd rather they didn't know. Thank you for openly admitting that I was correct in my assertion that the Israelis have a national holiday to honour a terrorist. That's obviously a huge black mark on their international reputation to anyone who is in the know. I also think it's important to understand that the word "terrorist" isn't synonymous with "muslim". Too many people are engaged in the debate about the middle east without that knowledge. FWIW I don't hate jews at all, I hate the trouble in the middle east and that we are being conditioned to take a firm stance on what's going on over there at the same time as we are being mislead as to exactly what's going on over there. I have seen jewish people speak against the actions of the Israeli state and I have the utmost respect for people who can see their own faults. I hope that the jews get their share of the holy land and that they are able to live in peace with their neighbours there forever. I don't think that they are on the right track and I think that we are guilty of supporting them with too blind an eye to all the things they do. No need for you to snitch me out to csis or the cia for that last sentence, I already sent an email saying that exact thing to my elected mp so I'm already red-flagged for life.

I respect that you are actually engaging in this topic with some actual facts, but don't throw down the anti-Semitism card on me Rue. The Likud party is run by terrorists and the Israeli people have national holidays to honour their actions - a rose by any other name. In the context of this debate, Israelis were the first terrorists. We all know that nothing to do with war or war crimes has been invented in the last 70 years, but right now popular opinion is that Muslims are the only terrorsists to ever walk the earth. I'm jere to attack that theory, not Jews in particular. Do you think that Israelis are beyond reproach? Im out of time, back l8r

IMO terrorists should get the death penalty regardless of where they are from, no need to discriminate or to waste money building, maintaining and manning remote prisons. I don't think that it's nearly that simple. The western bibles give just as much license to discriminate and kill as the quran does. If the old testament was invented today it would be classified as hate literature and would not be allowed to be published here in Canada. It's grandfathered in just like the quran. There's ample room for a follower of Islam or Judeo-Christianity to believe that their religious obligation is to kill each other (and you're unaware of your history if you think that there's never been reason for decent, non-muslim people to fear large groups of J-C's - reasons like genocide for example). The place where those two tectonic plates meet brings out the worst in humanity. We honestly need to think about what's going on in that part of the world right now that makes so many people slither towards the dark side of their religion. What could both sides do to make it better? There's some room on the sunny side but it has less traction. That's step one and almost noone is there because both sides have too many good reasons to blame the other. It's doubtful that people can get there in time to stave off conflict on a greater scale than what we have known in our lifetime. Religion and common sense are not exactly birds of a feather, but religion is stronger than atheism so here we are in a world where humans kill themselves along with other humans for the satisfaction of their imaginary friends. The day will probably come when it becomes prudent for me or my descendants to pretend to believe in a higher power, but it's not today. I'm not a part of that war and I don't want to import it to Canada.

Notca I'm guessing that the writing contained above is yours, and that you just made a mistake by adding your comments in the wrong area when you quoted the earlier post... If that's the case then you're not a racist, you're a realist. The bleeding hearts of the world can say "let them thru the doors as fast as you can" but the people manning the gate have a daunting task ahead of them that the BH's can't fathom. Noone wants to be the guy who stamped the passport of a person who went on to take the lives of innocent Canadian men, women and children. Once the new wave of refugees arrives there's 10 Million square kilometres of Canada to protect from the enemy within (but don't even think of tapping their cellphones or monitoring their emails). Syria/the middle east is a troublesome area and it's completely naive for Canadians to assume that we can hastily bring in 25,000 refugees from such a place without bringing in a single member of a dangerous faction. They don't grow up fat and happy like us over there, they all grew up in an area where people of all religions openly hate each other and most of them have lost loved ones to "the other side". The other side is anyone from shiite, sunni, christian, jew... you name it. I'd love to help out all the people who truly respect human life and take no part in the religious hatred. I just don't know how to pick them out of a crowd. I especially don't know how to hastily pick them out of a crowd, and if you could name them by name how can you be sure that the names on the passports belong to the faces crossing our border? Everyone who wants to come over here has an agenda and you can't tell what it is by how close their eyes are together. Trudeau was just capitalizing on the wave of sentiment, and making good use of the fact that as the leader of the opposition he didn't need to worry about actually doing anything at the time he was making the promises. His next step will be to blame "the bureaucracy and hateful folks" that were put in place by the Harper Gov't for delaying the flow of refugees. Soon enough reports will be coming in from Europe about the problems that they are facing from their new immigrant populations and there will be lowered expectations. A new zeitgeist will emerge and the next leader of the opposition will pretend that they have a magic wand to solve the situation while the PM will be stuck dealing with reality. At least I hope that's the case. If Trudeau is as smart as most voters seem to think then he won't push his agenda fwd at the stated rate. There are many wiser, safer options. I don't know why the idea of a UN safe haven never got any traction. Most of the refugees theoretically want to stay in/go back to Syria.

So the above post contains just one recent example of an "anti-Israeli screed". Over the past 7 decades there have been several, but the western media sees the world thru judao-christian coloured goggles. This story from a western perspective would be summed up as "Israel retaliated, evened the score, bad people dead, HALLELUJAH!" The UN has had more resolutions against Israel than any other country in it's entire history. Amnesty International isn't a fan of the Israelis either. But you can call me a hater who's viewpoint is governed by really bad radicals if it floats your boat. If you looked at the world through the eyes of an atheist, or a true neutral, with concern for people regardless of their religion, skin colour or cultural background you would have an entirely different opinion. The lives of Palestinian children would matter to you. The access that they have to education and health care would matter. Their job opportunities. Just pretend they aren't muslims and you can do it. I'm not asking you to hate Israelis. I'm just informing you that they invented terrorism in the middle east, and they venerate their terrorists, the likud party was born and bred as terrorists (and that's something that you can just google) so don't be fooled into believing that they are angels. Allow that to sink in and to wear away at your belief that this is strictly a good vs evil issue. Both sides need to own up to their share of blame. Truth is that 66 years after the inception of the country of Israel their citizens have nowhere to go. They need to stay where they are, just like the caucasians and asians who were born and raised in this country can't just vacate it and leave it to the first nations people. You can't put the toothpaste into the tube and there's noone on earth who still lives within 20 km of their forefathers if you go back far enough. But the bottom line is that the Israelis simply aren't good enough as human beings to earn the loyalty and devotion that we have shown them. They need to be better. They need to stop their quest for "lebensraum", they need to think more along the lines of the golden rule and less of the first commandment (which is basically a license to discriminate against those who honour another god). I'm ok with this country supporting them, but not in the high-handed manner in which they have been acting since I was born.
-
I wish I could say that you were wrong in some way, but you nailed it.
-
I don't think it's a matter of stripping their citizenship and sending them off to another country without going to jail. They stay in jail for 30 years and leave the country the day they get out.

How Trudeau will work very hard on dumping FPTP
WestCanMan replied to overthere's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In order for Trudeau to change the essence of our democracy I'm pretty sure he will need more than a simple majority vote in the HOC. Common sense dictates that would up over 66%, maybe 75 or 80%. It's not happening, /story. -
Call the cops and say I saw some people in BC smoking weed. Bring 500,000 sets of handcuffs.

There are about 100,000 police working every minute of every day in north america (that's a straight up guess), the number of "incidents" is extremely rare when you consider the element of society that they spend the majority of their time dealing with. Just remember when you see CNN or Fox news reporting on an incident that they have a choice to make: 1) do they report the facts in a the most accurate manner possible 2) do they report the facts in the most profitable manner possible? The difference is worth about $100M to them. The first time I saw the Ferguson shooting on tv I was given the impression that a cop just started randomly shooting at some African Americans from his cruiser and killed an innocent "gentle giant" teenager. Then the violent robbery was shown on tv, and angry citizens dismissed it as "not relevant". If that incident was reported in a more responsible manner from the beginning it would have had an entirely different outcome and the american MSM would be out million$. You didn't save a future victim from police brutality, you just did your part to keep a real victim from getting justice and to help a criminal remain at large. GJ eyeball
