This is now very little ability to disagree with the Left
WestCanMan replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In all honesty, the first change that a person needs to make is to really open their eyes and catch people lying to them. In this day and age it's really easy, because it's quite blatant, quite frequently. The main problem is that people are too scared of cognitive dissonance. They can't entertain the possibility that "their side" was wrong and the "other side" was right. They can't let that first domino tip over because they know where it leads. -

I'm not the one defending the position that "blocking travel is bad and masks are bad". That would be you. Dr Tam even backtracked on both counts, and looks like a total idiot for being in that position. You're the one who refuses to take your media to task for blindly propagating the advice of Dr Tam/Trudeau/WHO and for demonizing countries like Japan (just Trump actually) for doing the right things. Could you take a second right now to acknowledge just how blatantly wrong their advice was? Do you understand that when you do, you'll be admitting that I was right months ago while you were wallowing in stupidity and ignorance? Thanks for coming out again dialamah. Next time you want science advice, ignore CNN and ask me what's up. I promise to tell you the truth, and you should know for certain that CNN will not. -

Clearly you're willing to be led around by the nose by anyone who shows up on CNN. You have no ability whatsoever to catch people on blatant lies. That's why we can never see eye to eye. Have you posted a cite for the BS you're plopping down? Nope. You have to believe the subject matter that is being dumped on you because you have absolutely no way to fact check them. They're saying something that appears to be convenient for you so as far as you're concerned, it's gospel truth. If 400 people got onto two planes, one plane went to Milan and one went to NYC, would they all have the same strain? Would you bet your life on the science that you're blindly propagating? Would you bet $100 that they can absolutely say for certain that everyone who got sick in NYC was infected via Europe? Do you know what the chances are that what you're saying is even true? How many people do you think fly to NYC from China every day? How many come from Seattle, where the "Chinese" strain of the virus is? It's actually 100% impossible for people in NYC to not be infected via Seattle or China, and if covid is as contagious as it's rumoured to be then it got on the subway system and spread like wildfire. The theory that you're peddling is actually stupid dialamah, compared to basic common sense like blocking the path of the virus and wearing masks? LMAO. I want to congratulate you for trying so hard to cover for Trudeau's stupidity, but at the same time, you're like a Nazi with your undying loyalty to a dreadfully unworthy "leader". If I'm the incompetent one here then why was I able to properly predict how to fight covid when YOUR BELOVED SCIENTISTS AND DOCTORS were all 100% wrong? Why does this new "evidence" seem to do damage control for their stupidity? Why did countries like Japan, who did the things that I proposed, do so well compared to Canada? You don't know. That's the actual answer to everything dalamah. You never know. You're on the wrong side of this one and you just refuse to admit it. -

"Capitalism is the enemy" "Free ____________ [everything]" "Equality of outcome" "People with money are guilty" You don't need a book to become a Marxist. You can watch CNN or CBC. Run some google searches. Thank your trusted news source for this low herd mentality. Stupidity. Gullibility. Leftism. Racism. I'll stop here. I see people lying here all the time, and I call them out on it. I call the MSM out on actual, material lies all the time. No one gives a rip. That's why they'll never change. They're stuck in a hole that they're helping to dig. -

Not really, I got onto the topic of Global News vilifying conservative MPs for questioning Dr. Tam’s seemingly sinister advice. That’s totally on the topic of people being censured for questioning leftist dogma. In fact, it couldn’t be any more on topic. -

Riiiight. “Scientists”. It’s funny how scientists are instantly discredited by everyone on the left when they say some thing that leftists don’t like, but as soon as one scientist says something that leftists like it’s carved in stone. That crap was posted here over a month ago. Theoretically, within a couple weeks of Covid being in America, “scientists” were really able to see exactly where every human in NYC got the virus from, and what race of people had it before them. Maybe the strain that infected Europeans also infected Americans at the same time. Two airplanes with infected people could’ve left Wuhan on the same day with 50 infected people on each one of them. No one knows that that’s not the case. It’s not impossible that it was people from New York that infected Europeans. The truth is that no one knows. It’s impossible to know. Anyone who pretends to know for certain just has an agenda that they’re trying to push. Why were CNN’s vaunted “scientists” so wrong about HCQ’s side-effects? It’s not like they had to research them themselves and they just made a few mistakes or anything, they could’ve just googled it. They could’ve looked at the 50-year-old studies, or all the side effects that happened when it was given to literally millions of patients over the past 40 years. Unfortunately, in the age of misinformation, the last thing that we can really do is rely on the what “scientists” tell us. Even the world health organization gets things 100% wrong and they only have to give really simple advice, that has been known for centuries. And like I said, even if somehow we stumbled onto some honest scientists and they got it right, that means that the virus got to the US from Europe, which means that Trump’s China travel ban pushed covid’s entry into the US back by about 14 days. -

Talk about conspiracy theories and utter bullshit. You think I'm going to take your word that people really know what countries the virus came from, or that they'd be honest about it if they did? Do you remember how many lies came out about HCQ, from major sources that we honestly should be able to rely on, within two days of Trump first mentioning it? It was absurd how desperate they were to discredit an off-patent drug. And if what you're saying is true, then Trump's travel ban actually worked because it forced the virus to take a circuitous route to enter the US. IE, it didn't come from people who were in China, but from people who were in contact with people who were in China that then went to the US. That is almost a 14-day grace period. Thanks Trump. I forgot to mention, in Japan their travel ban was even more specific than the US ban. They just banned people from Hubeii province. Japan kicked covid's ass. -
The Epitome of Leftist Hypocrisy
WestCanMan replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I didn't say that mob mentality is a leftist phenomenon, I just said that this rioting looting and arson was a leftist phenomenon. Do you think any Republicans/Conservatives are happy about cop-killing, looting and arson? Only leftists are cheering for the riots. Only CNN and the Dems are talking about defunding police like the subject has merit. https://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/obama-voices-support-for-young-us-protesters Obama and CNN constantly praise protests and protestors and they outright refuse to speak critically of the BLM & Antifa, they ignore rioting and looting, the arson... It's all good to them. I hardly ever heard about Obama for the last 3 years. As soon as the rioting happened he was all over the place pumping his fist. I think that piece of crap actually likes the fact that America is just the way he left it again. If he didn't like America burning, he didn't show it. I saw right-wing protests, most notable in Michigan. They weren't pretty, they were actually scary because of the number of guns involved, but there was no rioting or looting. -

Trump banned travellers from entering the US who had been to China within 14 days on Jan 31. 42 days later, on March 13th, Trudeau re-stated his criticism of Trump's travel ban. 3 days later, on March 16th, Trudeau did an about-face and announced his travel ban. Japan banned travellers from China's Hubeii province earlier than March 15th: https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2020/01/15025cbcccfc-breaking-news-new-coronavirus-carriers-to-be-barred-entry-to-japan-abe.html Jan 31 they announced it. Why was banning travel from Hubeii good enough for Japan? Because the Chinese gov't had a ban on travel within the country for people from Hubeii. Canada didn't though. Neither the Chinese gov't nor the Cdn gov't stopped flights from Hubeii province (where Wuhan is) from coming to Canada. That's not cool. The Japanese gov't also handed out masks to their citizens. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/05/28/national/science-health/masks-helped-fight-coronavirus/#.XtwTzy8ZNQI My opinion doesn't lack facts, at all. Stopping pandemics at the source isn't a novel idea, and masks work for reasons which aren't specific to the DNA strands of novel viruses. -

My dad was an alcoholic and died just before he turned 65 from general organ failure. He wasn't violent though, I had a good enough childhood. I lived in a house without running water from gr 8 until I left home, but it wasn't poverty or anything. I always had decent food to eat. FWIW I totally support giving underprivileged children a break in life. I just don't go for the total equality of opportunity thing. I think that de-motivates people. Life is tough, and if we don't work hard as a society we will not have a nice country to live in. -

I completely understand disadvantage and privilege. That's why I worked hard, saved money, and bought a condo before I had a kid. I was in the military and worked in a sawmill. I didn't get $1 to buy my place. My kid will have advantages because of the years of hard work that I put into getting my life in order and that's the way it should be. That's the way it would be in a tribal society, before there was ever such a thing as money. That's life. Will Smith's kids will have more advantages and opportunities than my kid will too. WS earned it. He chose a tough path, with a very low percentage chance of success, he worked like a mofo, and it paid off. Good for him. Should my kid get all kinds of private tutoring and nice cars, just like his? Nope. I didn't earn that. That's on me. You can't have a society of "guaranteed equal outcomes" and still have a creative, individual-friendly environment. Communism doesn't work that way. -

You think I have credibility issues because you don't understand what I'm talking about, with regards to Trudeau/Trump/covid. CTV, CBC and Global are Canadian. They're supposed to hold OUR politicians accountable. When our politicians are making idiotic mistakes that get people killed our MSM is supposed to notice, and they're supposed to care. They should step up and be a voice for Canadians. What did they do when Dr Tam said masks are bad? They toed the line and said "MASKS ARE BAD!" They didn't think about it from a neutral POV and examine the topic. They didn't wonder why Drs and nurses have worn masks for over a century. They just tried to propagate that narrative. What did they do when Trump closed off travel from China? (@ eyeball - yes he allowed Americans to come home so it wasn't really a travel ban lol) They followed Trudeau's lead and piled on Trump for "racism". They even quoted sources that said "it might violate international law". They didn't care that Japan and Taiwan also did it. They didn't even mention it at the time, because it was contrary to their narrative of racism as a primary motive. Our MSM was busy trashing Trump instead of thinking. Instead of following conventional wisdom. Age-old wisdom. Common sense. They didn't have our backs, they backed the turd. Now our MSM is busy trying to mop up Trudeau's mess. Trying to make it like "We did way better than the US!!!! Look at these stats!!!!" The stats are that if we had America's population, we'd have 67,800 covid deaths, and that's if our population density was still somehow only 1/8th of what America's is. We don't have a NYC subway station with 4.3M riders daily, in a city with the UN headquarters. We didn't have a superbowl during covid. Our airports are 1/10th the size of US airports. The simple fact is, that if you went back in time and put Canada's covid strategy in place in the US, the'd have far more than just 110,000 deaths. Our covid laws were STUPID, top to bottom, back to front, just extremely stupid in every way imaginable. We had travellers from covid hotspots flying in just 1 week before we were banned from hiking on remote trails in our own country. FYI my position has always been that Donald Trump didn't "get it right". Shinzo Abe got it right. Trump just did better than Trudeau, and our media wasn't only wrong about that, they vilified Trump for doing the right thing. They even vilified him for blocking funding to the WHO, pending an investigation. The WHO had one job - to give the world the right advice during a pandemic. The WHO got outsmarted by Donald Trump. You of all people should think that's reason for an investigation, based on your opinion of Trump. -
A former ESPN reporter, Chris Palmer, was on his twitter account, lustily cheering on the rioting & arson when a low-income housing building in his city was being burned down. He sung a different tune when the rioting got too close to his gated complex: So when they were destroying other people's businesses and homes it was AWESOME!!!!!! Then when they came within 100 yards they were "animals who didn't belong in his neighbourhood" lol. The little bitch called the cops. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that evil? Aren't police forces supposed to be defunded now? I can promise you that there's not a single person who posts on this forum who would support the destruction of their own home or business, but all of these little hypocrites were ok with it when it was happening 500 miles away. "It's just a part of the overall protests. There's a good reason for it." Ok Chris Palmer.

I personally don't like stats that divide people up by race at all, but I understand that you're just countering leftist "stats" regarding police misuse of force. The one racial divide that I personally hate is "xx.x% of blacks voted for_______ and xx.x% of white suburban housewives voted for ___________." I don't know how they get that info, don't they have secret ballots in the US? (We all know how flawed their polling is, their accuracy certainly isn't down to 1/10th of a percent.) I also don't I don't know how predicting who blacks/whites are going to vote for is any less racist than saying stupid things like black people like fried chicken. IMO it's worse, because it's like saying that "Black people are so stupid that they believe everything they see on CNN." There's a ton of pressure on black people to vote Dem, and a lot of it comes from the more divisive racists in the Dem party. In my honest opinion, the Dems really rely on racism to get votes, and they do their utmost to keep racist division alive to that extent. Making "black" and "white" stats is a big part of that. Using racial epithets instead of saying black and white would be a more accurate representation of the issue. One last thing that I'll say about these stats that's I'm going to guess is misleading is that a lot of these "blacks" are pretty close to half-white. Maybe even more than 50% in some instances. It's weird to shove all of those stats onto one race and not the other. Is this like a DNA stat, or a brown paper bag stat, or a what colour was their primary caregiver stat? No matter what, it's sick imo. I just hate these stats. -

True enough. You could even substitute sexual harassment or scandals for racism and it's still true. As long as I live I don't think I'll see anything more hypocritical than Hillary calling Trump a misogynist, or Dems saying that Trump needs to be investigated for Ukrainian collusion but "Biden doesn't need to be investigated for Ukrainian collusion because we already vetted him ourselves". -

Wrong. You are an "equality of outcome" proponent, which is like rewarding people for being lazy and useless. If two responsible people work hard together and do all the right things to raise their kids, why should their children be limited to the same opportunities as the 6th child of a dropout party-girl? What would be the point of people going to college/getting good jobs, or working hard if they can just belch out kids that are guaranteed to have every opportunity to succeed? What would stop people from having 17 kids each? What reason would people have for being responsible parents? You're advocating for a nanny state, where parents aren't involved and the government runs every aspect of a child's life. Governments don't do childcare well. Children deserve the individual attention that only family can give. Strong family units are the core of any healthy community. -
The sudden outburst of misinformation about HCQ was insane. MSM sources told all sorts of lies about the side-effects of HCQ, the studies which showed promise were instantly discredited without reason, the results one group (at the VA) which was given HCQ in a non-clinical trial was mischaracterized and heralded as the conclusive/definitive all-time study of HCQ vs covid, people said that the drug couldn't possibly be used as a prophylactic although it has been used like that for malaria for decades, people incorrectly said that Trump was profiting from it in some way (in complete ignorance of the fact that it has been off-patent for decades, and what that actually means), that a drug that combats covid isn't a proper solution - you need a vaccine, etc. Whatever the truth is about HCQ and covid, the seeming desperation of the alt-left to discredit it was bizarre. I don't know if it's because Trump was the first major politician to talk about it in the US, or if it's because there's some sinister plot to force people to take vaccines, but squashing the use of HCQ before it had a chance to be properly tested became priority-one for the left instantly. The funny thing with the vaccine is, the people who are saying "the side effects of HCQ are unknown" are total hypocrites. It's a 60 year old drug. The side effects have been known for a very long time, and proven on the widest test group of people imaginable. Whatever vaccine comes out will obviously be new, and there's no way in hell that it's side-effects can be understood to the same extent that HCQ's side-effects are known. Leftists like nothing more than being led around by the nose by their known-to-be-fabricators media. They're beyond reason.

For sure. Our low population density is a huge protection. We are socially-distanced by virtue of our geography.
-
How do you think it's possible that Canada is 17th in deaths per million? Do the math Zg... We have the 11th most covid deaths in the world and the 39th highest population... These guys have us 11th: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/ 11th in the world in covid deaths per million, and 187th in the world in population density..... hmmmmmm. How awesome is that? 187th isn't even that great of a metric. There are countries ahead of us that have over 380 people per sq km. There are countries behind us with 350 ppl/sq km. Our pop density is 4. Ontario is 14. Quebec is 8. The Fraser Valley is the most crowded area in BC - 22 people per sq km. Even if you take 1/10th the size of Que with their whole population, their pop density would only be 80. Tokyo metro area has over 6,000 people per sq km and the same population as Canada. 14,000 sq km. Japan's pop density is 350, our is 4, their deaths per million is 7, ours is 208. Even if you subtract the 200 from ours, we're still higher. I understand optimism, but this isn't optimism, it's highly inaccurate and misleading. You're high-fiving other Libs over a huge pile of corpses that shouldn't be there.
