Back to the topic at hand, over 7,700 Canadians are dead now, and the Trudeau government has fessed up to closing travel too late, and to giving the exact wrong advice re: masks. Lots of us have been saying since the beginning the gov't was wrong on this, are we supposed to believe that we know more about the topic than our top medical official? Japan, where they have the whole population of Canada centred around one city, still has only 907 deaths. We're still ahead of China and India, and those countries have 30x our population. To be honest, you're throwing the blanket of "racism" over all of this, but it's not necessarily that. For instance, within the "white race" you'll have big fat guys with long beards and lots of tattoos, wearing leather and denim. They're not all bikers, but they choose that look for a reason. They'd choose a different look if they didn't want to cash in on that style. Similarly, they could have their heads shaved and have tattoos all over. Again, they chose that look for a reason, and if they wanted to be salesmen or TV hosts they'd choose a different look. There are really good reasons for judging people based on their appearance, and you wouldn't always be right, but it would be a mistake to always just ignore it. If I was walking in an unfamiliar neighbourhood and I saw a bunch of young black men wearing hoodies, with their pants down to the bottom of their underwear, I wouldn't assume they were friendly. I'd assume they knew where I could get some drugs. I could be wrong, so what? I could be wrong about the white guys too. People tend to err on the side of caution. It's "classism" at worst, and some classes are prone to violence. I'd agree that he's de-sensitized, along with a lot of other cops. I'd agree that a lot of the people that those cops deal with are de-sensitized and too hard to deal with too. In both groups, there's a line that people cross which means that they have to lose their jobs or go to jail. Those lines should be the same. Problem: I think that in a lot of instances, we are too quick to give too much or too little credibility to one group or they other for their de-senisitization when they cross those lines. Crime is crime and theres no room for bleeding hearts at sentencing time. In the case of police officers, I think that hyper-liberalization is making their jobs harder than they need to be. Policing has come a long way in the last 60 years, since 1960. But things that the police need to be able to do, like "carding" or "stop and frisk", save lives. More specifically, they save lives in the communities they are working in. Unfortunately most of the people who they deal with in those areas are minorities, but almost all of the lives that they save when the murder rates go down in those areas are also minorities. Liberals are screwing things up at every level and policing is one. The fact that you want to say that you know what was in his mind is highly illogical. He's not necessarily responding to the way the guy looks, he could be responding to the way the guy talks, the fact that he's high, and most likely the fact that he resisted arrest. If the guy was on drugs, the cop would know, and he could be responding to dealing with the same old crackhead problem that he deals with every day. "Lock him up, let him out, try and solve the crimes he commits, lock him up again tomorrow. Rinse - repeat". That's a real thing. One of my friends is an ambulance driver, they revive the exact same people a lot. It's not even rare for people get mad when they are revived, because they feel like "their awesome high" just got wasted and now they need to do whatever nasty things they need to do to get more drugs so that they can OD again. It's a thankless job, but at least the ambulance attendants don't deal with physical and verbal (thanks hyper-lefties) abuse. At this stage, there are a lot of key people who played a role in the filming or the arrest in this case who are actively trying to deceive us all. We'll never know the truth, unless some audio and video comes out that we haven't had access to yet. You're making very big, key assumptions here which are much more unlikely than a resisting arrest scenario. You're also making the assumption that the officer never hears people faking how much pain they're in, or how much they're being abused when they know there's an angry liberal pointing a camera at them. I can guarantee that happens. I've seen videos before which were edited to make cops look bad. (what this cop did was murder, but let's not act like we know exactly what happened, and exactly what he was thinking, and exactly why he did the things that he did, WHEN WE DO NOT) C'mon Rue, you're way smarter than this. He abused that guy, and murdered him, but like I said earlier, he definitely (and I'm not guessing here) has run into people who acted like they were dying before when a camera came out. It's what people do. Check youtube for a police abuse video and you'll find lots of examples of people who are hamming it up. Lots of editing hatchet-jobs. It's no excuse, but there's also no excuse for pretending to know his exact thought process, and know that it was racism for certain. The videos of the exact same thing happening to a white guy are actual examples of how this can happen without the issue of race being a contributing factor.

Out of all the hundreds of protests involving tens of thousands of rioters and police over the last week+ you have 3 inconclusive videos. There are more dead cops than that from the riots, and far more cops were shot and stabbed in that period of time.

This is the part I don't like. It's really fishy if the video is edited to only show the parts that someone wants you to see. I've seen lots of videos that cut in after police are wrestling with someone that are supposed to show evidence of police brutality. IMO, under normal circumstances, there's no brutality unless they get crazy, as is the case here, or if you can clearly see the whole encounter from beginning to end and the victim is being reasonable and gets the boots for no reason.

CNN refused to show the video of M Brown robbing the store right before he got shot for the exact same reason. 1) Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story and 2) never let a tragedy go to waste. The whole M Brown thing was a fiasco and, while this is less of a farce, it's still overblown. It's a murder, yes, and it's a big deal, yes, but it's not a BLM story. Those guys are just divisive racists. It's a police brutality story, and it might be a "why the f did that guy still have a badge story", but I doubt that reason will prevail long enough to make sense of any of this.

Trump's military policies have yielded near-perfect results: almost no US troops died during Trump's Presidency, no costly ME wars have been started, islamic state ceased to be a landholder 4.5 years ahead of Obama's predicted timeline, all the leaders from the world's 4 biggest terrorist groups have been recycled, NATO members have been shamed into closing in on their budget obligations, etc. I keep as keen an eye on the success of the military as anyone, and I'm no fan of seeing allied soldiers die or lose ground. If you can see some type of failure by the US military since 2017 I'd love to hear it.
