Cybercoma I want to congratulate you on being a fine liberal person. Honestly I do. A big part of our culture is accepting decent people from all walks of life and I can tell that it's really important to you. Here's the deal though. You don't even like your fellow Canadians for what you think is their conservatism; you think that "conservatives" here are on the opposite end of the spectrum from you and "we're" not. We might not be 100% as liberal as you are but all Canadians are practically joined at the hip compared to most world views from abroad. The difference between libs and cons on this issue just boils down to this: your liberal belief is that all humans are identical and that they can all make fine Canadians and we actually all agree on that. Race is no issue here at all. Where we differ is that you believe that religions and cultures are all equally liberal in nature. I ask you this: were Jesus and Mohammed both liberals?

Sept 11 2001 was a bad day for plane crashes of the seemingly intentional variety. Do you need a stat to prove that? Dec 7 1941 was a bad day for ships at anchor in the pacific ocean in their home port. Do you need a stat to prove that? Dec 31 2015 was a bad day for cities experiencing sexual assaults out in the street. Do you need a stat to prove that? If you want to take the position that events like Dec 31 occur frequently on this planet then the onus is on you to provide a cite to back that up.

You're seriously calling what happened in Europe "the actions of a select few"? Do you have the slightest clue what level of crime that represents from such a small population?
-
Dialamah the deal here is that the small minority in one group, the pedo's sneaking off across the vast expanse of the Pacific ocean, is about 1/100th of one percent of the population. The rest of the population is upset about it and serious about criminal charges for thse people. Laws here were enacted to make their overseas indulgences crimes with very long sentences. The minority in the other group is not nearly as small. And what they are doing is not looked down upon to the same extent either. Large groups of people do it because it's considered no big deal. Raping girls isn't a big deal over in the middle east, especially if the girls are non-muslims. Do you think that it would make a bit of difference if a group of muslim men harassed/groped a western woman walking through the streets of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, and on and on...? Leaders in those muslim communities marry extremely young girls and even have boys as toys. They don't go to jail for that, they are not frowned upon. Girls who don't accept the orders from that families commonly have acid thrown on them, or are burned with kerosene and even that is not considered a crime. The prophet Mohammed married a 6 year girl and had sex with her at 9. To this day 14 yr old brides are still dying in child birth. Don't compare what is tolerated over there to what is tolerated over here. It's ridiculous. Being a muslim isn't a crime, but stop acting as if the cultures in those countries aren't as backwards as they're being made out to be.
-
You're stretching so far to make that point, which isn't even a point, that it's ridiculous. On one hand there are few large groups of men from a relatively small population all doing something together, with no backlash from their own community. And it happened in 3 cities on the same night. To you that doesn't represent any sort of a pattern or a problem whatsoever from that community. On the other you have just a few loners slinking away from a massive group of people to fly thousands of miles to do something at great expense because they know that their own community will put them in jail. To you that population is similar to the 1st in some way? I wanna pull my hair out reading your posts.

So one liberal mp committed fraud? It's a little hard to have so many candidates run and make sure that not a single one is a fraudster,> I don't think that can be held against the whole party. When I voted my name got crossed off the list, and 300 extra votes is a lot in a station where there were less than 600 names of eligible voters on the list. Can they really be over by 50% from just "a few honest mistakes"?

Do you have a crystal ball eyeball? Can you sit at your computer desk and discern the truth from 8,000 miles away? Or are you just suffering from delusions of grandeur?
-
Did you just admit that there was such a thing as a cultural difference, while still trying to act like you're not a racist? Why do you get the benefit of a double standard here?
-
Osama can suck it if there's a hell. Humans get involved and help other humans. The middle east is just another place on earth where there are humans, there's no imaginary line in the sand where humans should have to say "nope, it's just muslims killing other muslims. None of our biz".
-
I made my point that we shouldn't have been blindly supporting the Israelis no matter what atrocities they committed for all these years in my first 30 posts here. I even sent a letter to my my MP back when Harper was the chief. That's another story. I find it ironic that you try so hard to prove that we should treat these people from the middle east like fellow humans and receive them without hesitation here but at the same time you say that they aren't our fellow humans so we should let the more powerful groups over there massacre the weaker ones. Which one is it bigguy? It's a difficult situation when you have to make the decision to kill people or deny those displaced by war a safe haven. Here's an idea or two: 1) There are humans in the middle east who need protection. If we can help them we should. 2) There are a lot of people there who like nothing more than massacring innocents, we should be very selective of who we allow across our border. 3) 400,000 Christians were chased out of Syria by these friendly muslims just a while back. Where was the hue and cry? 4) Some people try so hard to be more politically correct than anyone else that they throw common sense and objectivity out the window in favour of a blind obsession with standing on soapboxes expressing the most liberal viewpoint they can dream up at every turn. I don't have much respect for those kinds of opinions, I don't think those people do enough research or put enough actual thought into the things that they say.

Do you actually know what makes people join Isis now BigGuy? What made them follow all the other killing sprees over the last 1,500 years on all the various continents? Was that D Trump too? Is D Trump a weally weally good reason for them to blow up some more people? News flash, those idiots say "we're coming to America to Kill you" all the time. Isn't it prudent at some point to say "hmmm, if they're telling us that they are coming here to kill us, shouldn't we try to stop them from coming over here and killing us? Or is that racist?" Canadians have done peacekeeping all over the world. Are you saying we should just leave the kurds to face Isis all by themselves, just like we let Saddam gas them while we did nothing? Or should we stay out of it because we're not muslims? We should only protect other white christians hey big guy? But, but, but... wouldn't that make us racists too? This is soooo difficult!!! I think that no matter what we do we're just racists for either doing something or not doing anything. First they came for the kurds and I wasn't a kurd so I did nothing. Then they were happy so they didn't even kill the jews. Is that how it goes? I think you're the history expert. All I know is that all cultures are identical, you taught me that. -
Is it fair to assume that anyone holds a certain opinion about homosexuality or homelessness based on their view of Islam? Are you 100% certain that there are no gay Islamophobes? I mean, why wouldn't gays be afraid of Muslims? You know what Muslims do to gays right? Or did I just make a racist comment, despite the fact that I'm talking about a culture, not a race, and the fact that it's true.
-
Some of our "sunny days gang" need to go over to those countries and explain to them that every culture on earth is identical, and that they are being racist. I think it's been proven here that race and culture are the same thing.
-
Oh riiiiiiiight. Our main concern is people on the other side of the Atlantic who are going to float over here on giant rafts and then quickly assemble tanks and fighter planes once they get here. Kinda like Hannibal, because noone would ever expect it. Thanks for alerting me to the danger big guy.

Assimilation isn't the goal, the goal is to avoid "ghettos". (Before anyone takes offense to that word they should read the dictionary definition). People who come from places like Northern Ireland are better off living in areas of diversity rather than finding areas that are completely devoid of Protestants or Catholics so that they can keep their old issues close to heart.

The tolerance that we treat people with in Canada is not the worldwide standard. The author of the article isn't saying that Canadians should beatdown immigrants who don't do exactly what we tell them to do. He's saying that this country has worthwhile cultural and value systems that it's important for new immigrants to understand and embrace. If new groups come to Canada and huddle together, trying to make parts of this country into mini-me's of their homeland instead of integrating in the spirit which they initially claimed they intended to, then they represent a weakness in our social experiment. We don't want it to end with a sad but true "one bad apple spoiled the bunch" story. FYI the Canadian approach to race relations still isn't a proven "thing". It's an experiment that's still evolving (gay marriage isn't exactly as old as the hills yet) and extremely young compared to the whole recorded history of humanity. And one thing worth remembering, we have been fat and happy the whole time. When obesity is an issue and starvation is not part of the living memory of your culture you don't really know how durable the cultural fabric is. If the country is divided into factions in the best of times then what do you think will happen if we ever get hungry? When foreign wars get ugly? Etc, etc.

Stop taking the blame for everyone who gets pissed off.

How about not bring in 35,000 of them from the world's foremost terrorist hotbed in a short period of time and without adequate screening?

Terror the problem, not Islamophobia
WestCanMan replied to PIK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
600 years ago the Christians were ahead of the muslims in every way, and they always will be in terms of religious tolerance and humanitarianism. That's never going to go away. There is too much emphasis on intolerance in the hadith and the quran. The old battles and the hatred aren't things of the past to people who absorb those ancient texts, the quarrels are new and important to everyone who reads them for the first time. Sure there are failed attempts at creeping towards progressive societies in muslim countries, big deal. There's still not a muslim country on earth that's safe to live in for anyone else. Safe for the next 6 months maybe, but those areas are too volatile. Look at Iran and Saudi Arabia today. -

Islam isn't evolving at all. There is no new testament (the Haidith was not a step fwd), the women are still second class citizens, they still flex on any culture smaller than them every chance they get, their governments still have laws against atheism, their governments still commit genocide and allow the expulsion of non-muslims, they are still running around playing Mahommed and beheading people, they still consider it legal to rape women not wearing a burqa, and most of all they still put their religion ahead of human lives. Stop thinking that muslims are moderate just because of the way they act in areas where they have just immigrated and are a small minority. That's completely stupid - when the smallest kid in class doesn't pick on the biggest kid in class it doesn't prove anything about their character. The only way to judge a human/group is by the way they act when they have power. Think about what happens in areas all over the world where the Muslims have the majority. The same thing that has happened for over 1,000 years. At what point do you start to see a pattern? Patterns are important. Eg, when the days keep getting shorter and it is getting colder outside it doesn't mean that we are approaching eternal darkness. After Dec 21 the days start getting longer again. That's valuable information. Patterns can be used to study more than just the weather. People who were drunk on 30 days in November will probably get drunk on as many days as they can in December too. If a person like that spends a day in the hospital with no access to liquor and they manage to stay sober that's not considered proof that they have quit drinking. Muslims in Asia and Africa are on the exact same path as in the middle east. It's not the exception to the rule. Women without burqas in muslim areas are targets for abuse and rape worldwide. -

Don't you think your comment was just a little broad, to equate troubled teens here with mass murderers? Trudeau dropped out of college without a degree, was he just about to start beheading people before he got his first job at Superstore? -

The age of the religion has nothing to do with how peaceful it is, and Jesus wasn't exactly worshipped by Romans lol. -

When you need plants in your yard do you just let the seeds blow in from the cute yellow flowers in your neighbours yard or do you go out and get some seeds from a nursery? We don't just need immigrants, we need people who stand a good chance of becoming good citizens. We could also spend more money on our own youth to help them become model citizens. -

So what's an acceptable number of terrorists from 35,000 immigrants then jacee? lmao -

Yup, it grew more peacefully, and spread further tho.
