Is it fair to assume that anyone holds a certain opinion about homosexuality or homelessness based on their view of Islam? Are you 100% certain that there are no gay Islamophobes? I mean, why wouldn't gays be afraid of Muslims? You know what Muslims do to gays right? Or did I just make a racist comment, despite the fact that I'm talking about a culture, not a race, and the fact that it's true.

Some of our "sunny days gang" need to go over to those countries and explain to them that every culture on earth is identical, and that they are being racist. I think it's been proven here that race and culture are the same thing.

Oh riiiiiiiight. Our main concern is people on the other side of the Atlantic who are going to float over here on giant rafts and then quickly assemble tanks and fighter planes once they get here. Kinda like Hannibal, because noone would ever expect it. Thanks for alerting me to the danger big guy.

Assimilation isn't the goal, the goal is to avoid "ghettos". (Before anyone takes offense to that word they should read the dictionary definition). People who come from places like Northern Ireland are better off living in areas of diversity rather than finding areas that are completely devoid of Protestants or Catholics so that they can keep their old issues close to heart.

The tolerance that we treat people with in Canada is not the worldwide standard. The author of the article isn't saying that Canadians should beatdown immigrants who don't do exactly what we tell them to do. He's saying that this country has worthwhile cultural and value systems that it's important for new immigrants to understand and embrace. If new groups come to Canada and huddle together, trying to make parts of this country into mini-me's of their homeland instead of integrating in the spirit which they initially claimed they intended to, then they represent a weakness in our social experiment. We don't want it to end with a sad but true "one bad apple spoiled the bunch" story. FYI the Canadian approach to race relations still isn't a proven "thing". It's an experiment that's still evolving (gay marriage isn't exactly as old as the hills yet) and extremely young compared to the whole recorded history of humanity. And one thing worth remembering, we have been fat and happy the whole time. When obesity is an issue and starvation is not part of the living memory of your culture you don't really know how durable the cultural fabric is. If the country is divided into factions in the best of times then what do you think will happen if we ever get hungry? When foreign wars get ugly? Etc, etc.

Stop taking the blame for everyone who gets pissed off.

How about not bring in 35,000 of them from the world's foremost terrorist hotbed in a short period of time and without adequate screening?

Terror the problem, not Islamophobia

600 years ago the Christians were ahead of the muslims in every way, and they always will be in terms of religious tolerance and humanitarianism. That's never going to go away. There is too much emphasis on intolerance in the hadith and the quran. The old battles and the hatred aren't things of the past to people who absorb those ancient texts, the quarrels are new and important to everyone who reads them for the first time. Sure there are failed attempts at creeping towards progressive societies in muslim countries, big deal. There's still not a muslim country on earth that's safe to live in for anyone else. Safe for the next 6 months maybe, but those areas are too volatile. Look at Iran and Saudi Arabia today. -

Islam isn't evolving at all. There is no new testament (the Haidith was not a step fwd), the women are still second class citizens, they still flex on any culture smaller than them every chance they get, their governments still have laws against atheism, their governments still commit genocide and allow the expulsion of non-muslims, they are still running around playing Mahommed and beheading people, they still consider it legal to rape women not wearing a burqa, and most of all they still put their religion ahead of human lives. Stop thinking that muslims are moderate just because of the way they act in areas where they have just immigrated and are a small minority. That's completely stupid - when the smallest kid in class doesn't pick on the biggest kid in class it doesn't prove anything about their character. The only way to judge a human/group is by the way they act when they have power. Think about what happens in areas all over the world where the Muslims have the majority. The same thing that has happened for over 1,000 years. At what point do you start to see a pattern? Patterns are important. Eg, when the days keep getting shorter and it is getting colder outside it doesn't mean that we are approaching eternal darkness. After Dec 21 the days start getting longer again. That's valuable information. Patterns can be used to study more than just the weather. People who were drunk on 30 days in November will probably get drunk on as many days as they can in December too. If a person like that spends a day in the hospital with no access to liquor and they manage to stay sober that's not considered proof that they have quit drinking. Muslims in Asia and Africa are on the exact same path as in the middle east. It's not the exception to the rule. Women without burqas in muslim areas are targets for abuse and rape worldwide. -

Don't you think your comment was just a little broad, to equate troubled teens here with mass murderers? Trudeau dropped out of college without a degree, was he just about to start beheading people before he got his first job at Superstore? -

The age of the religion has nothing to do with how peaceful it is, and Jesus wasn't exactly worshipped by Romans lol. -

When you need plants in your yard do you just let the seeds blow in from the cute yellow flowers in your neighbours yard or do you go out and get some seeds from a nursery? We don't just need immigrants, we need people who stand a good chance of becoming good citizens. We could also spend more money on our own youth to help them become model citizens. -

So what's an acceptable number of terrorists from 35,000 immigrants then jacee? lmao -

Yup, it grew more peacefully, and spread further tho. -

How does "not being a saint" equate to "hell bent on murdering innocent people"? Is stealing a candy bar the same as beheading non-combatants or shooting high-powered assault rifles into innocent crowds of people? I think most non-saints from here are more into candy bar theft than mass murder. I don't recall the last mass murder by a Canadian youth. Ecole Polytechnic I guess. That was a lone loser though, not a group. You have to have a large crowd of losers to draw from to form a whole gang intent on blowing people up. -

There are also schools all over the country that teach in foreign languages, complete with culture and religion from the old countries. There is an Iqra school for elementary children not far from where I used to play baseball. The jesuits would say "Give us a child until he is 6 and he will be ours for life". Kids can easily grow up in this country and be completely devoid of any Canadian culture, customs and ideals. -

I meant Jews and Muslims, historically. They both started out on the same spot on the face of the planet. Of course since they are both just religions any race can be associated with either one, but their founders were the same. -

You remember they held spain for hundreds of years and they were attacking Greece non-stop until the crusades started right? They didn't just stop because they became nice all of a sudden. We are free from Islam because so many people fought in the crusades, not because of their kindness. -

Damn magic mouse, I just lost my whole reply and now I have to do it agin. Coles notes: Poli-sci doesn't trump monotheism. Public school system isn't the only choice for people who want don't want their children to adopt to Canadian ideals. :Irocksmiley: -

A race is a visible difference between people. Jews and Muslims are historically of the exact same genetic stock. Culture/religion is the dividing line that you are probably looking for in that instance. -

Citizen there are people all over the world displaced by war, and that's what the Syrians are facing. They are just displaced by war, they're not actually refugees unless they are being persecuted for some reason. It's true that muslims want their religion to be the only on earth, and it's also true that most other religions have the same agenda. The muslims just have a different strategy and that involves explosions in public areas and beheadings. Mohammed adopted a policy of murdering, beheading people and destroying all other places of worship until nothing was left but Islam. (They say that he "retaliated his way across the desert" but he was the man who wrote the book on fear-mongering and we all know that the winners write the history. The followers of IS are closely following the instructions of the Hadith, it's the 2nd most important text in Islam which basically chronicles the life of Mohammed so that others can follow in his path. The large beard with the shaven moustache is look adopted by those followers.) Christianity has a different playbook. They go to places with undeveloped economies and give out bread and medicine along with their christian indoctrination. People come for the bread and leave spiritually indebted. Small price to pay right? The missionaries are closely followed by captains of industry with more bread and some cozy factory jobs and the next thing you know the indigenous people have a population explosion, a religion and Nikes. Monotheism is powerful. Noone wants to think their granny is just wormfood after her last breath. Everyone fears death. It's human nature to want to establish meaningful bonds, especially with more powerful people (or entities). Even educated people with a strong understanding of the known universe & biology can overlook the ridiculous creation theory because their craving for an imaginary friend completely overpowers their intellect. Islam is not tolerant when it doesn't need to be, and everywhere that Islam shares a border with another culture it's like tectonic plates of human suffering and hatred. Even within Islam, between the different sects it's been that way for 1,000 years. It makes northern Ireland look like a playground. The form of Christianity we see today is quite tolerant, to the point where sikhs and buddhists can build temples & pagodas, worship as they choose and walk around freely in Christian dominated areas. Look around the world and back in history at the places dominated by muslims and ask yourself if you would want to live there. If you would feel comfortable raising your children there if you worshipped another god or none at all. It would be like raising your children in Yankee Stadium with BoSox shirts on, only the Yankee fans have a sacred text which instructs them to follow in the path of Babe Ruth, and the holy Babe had commanded his followers to conduct beheadings "if necessary". I think a lot of Canadians feel the pressure to be politically and to assume that all people are basically the same. That part is actually true. (Jews, Christians and muslims are from the exact same gene pool and their religions share most of the exact same entities in their own way). But not all cultures are the same, and since there is so much history proving that Oil and water don't mix why would we just try to repeat this failed experiment? Isn't that the nature of insanity? -
If they had a better chance of winning they would have a lot more members too. Not a lot of people like their odds against hellfire missiles when they are running across the desert.

Then what do you want to do about the muslim countries where sex with very young boys is a legal, a time honoured tradition? Look at me going down that road...

50% of the muslims are women, and males under 16 and over 40 account for about 50% of the males. So about 75% of Muslims don't fit the bill for being active in IS. Therefor the .005 comes from about 25% of the population, assuming that Sunni & Shia set aside their differences to do this together (doubt it but let's pretend). That means that 1/50 males of military age are in there, or 2%. Then there are men in that demographic who support it but are too afraid to fight, disabled, don't have the means to get there, have family & obligations, etc. 2% of all available males seems alarmingly high imo. When you say .005% do you mean 0.005 of one 1% (5 out of 100,000) or 5/1000? It's not unconventional to say .750% meaning 75%. It's normal in baseball for example. If you meant .005 of 1% that still makes .02/100 available males (1/5,000). It's a lot, when you consider that they are signing up to massacre women and children, not just to fight against other men. It's disgusting.
