That noise is the screaming that you're pretending not to hear. No one knows what his real reasons are but him. He claimed that he's doing it to help democracy, so there's that. Then there's the fact that if he makes it what it once was it's value could go back up to $70/share. Maybe more. Is he doing this for "attention"? The attention has brought on unwanted attention from the DOJ, because the Dems want anything but free speech. I doubt that's a bonus for him. Oh that's so keeyyyute! But incredibly stupid. For starters your whole shtick is a huge troll-job (comments like "I don't see leftists freaking out" and the one right above). FYI the whole last election in the US was about policy from the GOP. Trump's policies were extremely successful, his demeanour was the only thing that was sub-par. The left didn't have any policies aside from "ORANGE MAN BAD! VACCINES BAD (until we're elected)! What have Biden's "policies" brought the US? An insane spike in violent crime, homelessness, record-level inflation, illegal immigration that's off the charts, Fentanyl, property crimes, a war in Ukraine.... He's the worst president in the history of the US and it's not even close. The US is just a country of 330,000, it's not really all that special. They're 3rd or 4th largest, they have 1/4 the population of China and India, their education system lags behind European and Asian countries and their politics are toxic. America isn't destined to be #1 forever, it requires some effort, and electing people like Biden is effort in the wrong direction. More trolling lol, but whatever. Sadly in this day and age, most disinformation comes from the alt-left MSM. Sandman, Smollett, Dr Ford, Russian collusion, Ukrainian collusion, covid disinformation, whipgate, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc were all idiotic farces that were visible right out of the gate and they all came from the MSM. The conspiracy theories of yesterday have become today's common knowledge and the MSM isn't apologizing as fast as they're lying. That's why losing control of Twitter was such a big deal for them. Their narratives can't withstand exposure to light. They left needs censorship because the sheeple are like mushrooms - they need to be kept in the dark with a constant supply of bullshit. I'm going to let Musk get into a groove before i start condemning him. Twitter needed what Musk is promising, we'll see if he delivers.
-
Then you're trying not to see it. CNN is freaking out, the government is obviously freaking out, MSNBC is freaking out, and it's the in thing right now for leftists to say that they're abandoning Twitter. It's a great thing for free speech. The only people who think that it's not are people who are comfortable with the status quo, and those are the most worthless people in our society. FYI it should have been ok to talk about the lab leak theory because it made a lot of sense at the time. There were thousands of wet markets, hundreds of them had exotic species like the bats in question, but there was only 1 BSL4 lab in all of China, and it was right at ground zero for the viral outbreak (In case you didn't know, China is as big as the US and Canada. The location of the lab). People from the lab were some of the earliest infected people of all. They study coronaviruses there. In a place where free speech exists, it should be ok to talk about the possibility that the virus came from the lab. People should be able to post evidence which backs that claim. Banning videos with information about that lab was clearly a violation of the 1st Amendment. I get that you don't care when important, legitimate topics that you don't want people to discuss are banned, but that's your problem, not everyone else's. You need to grow up.
-
Dude the government of the United States is already in a panic and nothing has even happened yet. When the NYPost got banned from Twitter for telling the truth no one from the Dem side cared at all. They wouldn't acknowledge that shadow bans were real until about 3 days ago. But all of a sudden when Musk starts talking about free speech on Twitter it's time to open a government censorship panel? Theoretically the 1st amendment exists to prevent the government from stifling free speech and at the first sign of free speech on Twitter the US gov't went batshit crazy. Yes, leftists are looking at this as a pandemic of facts.

Wellllll not just my opinion. Even people who are usually against Trump agree on this one: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/09/16/how-jared-kushner-proved-his-critics-wrong-416527 Your opinion is actually quite a new one as far as I know. Most leftists usually try to paint Trump as an Anti-Semite, I don't think that I ever saw the "Jew lover" accusation before. In terms of being "a sellout to Israel", I guess you have no idea of the scope of the problems out there for Israel. If they have a single bad day they'll all be dead and that's not an exaggeration. Their enemies in leadership positions in the ME still talk openly about the talking tree. Are you talking about this from a Wahhabi POV? Do you think that it's just wrong for Israelis to exist? I'm not really sure where you're coming from or what you would have liked to see happen to Israel while Trump was POTUS.

You made the declarative statement "Trump is beholden to Israel and AIPAC, he's not strong at all, he does as he's told" so I just had to point out that wasn't actually a fact, just an opinion.

Yeah, this wasn't exactly a sales pitch for foreign buyers: https://financialpost.com/personal-finance/mortgages-real-estate/stephen-harper-vows-to-track-foreign-property-ownership No doubt Justin called that racist at the time, but if he did it will be buried in Google searches because in 2022 Trudeau started talking about the same thing: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-61027374
-
So ironic that Trudeau is the poster boy for white privilege, he's a groper, con artist, ethically challenged scumbag, and a raging bigot and yet he's also the golden child to the people who claim to hate bigotry, white privilege, government corruption and misogyny. If Adolf Hitler ran for the leadership of the LPOC, who would win?

Conservative Leadership September 10th
WestCanMan replied to Jack9000's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Because it's hard to win an election by telling the truth to people who are being sold a shinier lie by the competition. IE, you can't talk about being sensible and working hard to a group of people who have been promised silver spoons for doing nothing. "Hey kids, do you want a Buddha bowl for dinner or Fruit Loops?" is the exact same thing as "Do you want to work hard to make a decent living or should everyone get free medical, free dental and a guaranteed living wage no matter how lazy they are?" Having a healthy body is a choice that requires some effort. Having a strong country is a choice that requires some effort. Leftists appeal to people who don't have the gumption to put in real effort. -
Evolution moves at a glacial pace. The only way that this covid scenario could have a meaningful impact on evolution is if the vax harms the reproductive organs of the pseudovaxed, thereby wiping out the stoopidz gene.
-
? The dudes who tuck in their junk and win gold medals are 'self-described women' so I guess it's fair if a self-described conservative votes for Trudeau and defends his hate speech... ? FYI only leftists hate rational because being rational is what drives people away from the Liberal party. Rational people don't see a connection between refusing a pseudovax and being a racist. Rational people don't say "Oil is bad, so let's stop producing it - and kill our own economy, and we will just buy our oil from Russia and Saudi Arabia with the money that we make from producing green energy (after we beat China at the manufacturing game)."
-
What's the deal with Nat Post? One day they're saying something intelligent, the next day they're making AOC proud. This story is pure propaganda, just a bizarre little tag-on to our village idiot's deluded rant about anti-vaxxers being racists and misogynists. I feel like I should read it, just to see what the weasels are saying now, but I hate clicking on it because it generates ad revenue for them.

We're led to believe that the Dems and GOP are fairly equal political parties in the US, and sometimes the GOP even has a POTUS and control of the Senate and or Congress, but regardless of who's "in power" the Dems still seem to run things. The GOP won it all in 2016 yet the Dems controlled the airwaves with Russian collusion disinformation. Their lies and disinformation kept the government on its back heel for 4 years based on some rumours and innuendo. The wall didn't get finished, covid disinformation outweighed truth and reason, and the GOP couldn't even hold a fair election in 2020, even though the POTUS was a GOPer. All that time the leftists were saying that social media is just fine, there's no such thing as a shadow ban, there's a lid on disinformation, etc, but we all knew that was totally false. Saying something as simple and logical as "the virus might have come from a lab" was a known ban on FB and Twitter. Social media was like a dedicated disinformation superhighway for the last 5 years or so where only people who told the truth got banned. You could openly recruit terrorists but you couldn't say "BSL4". It was bizarre. Now that Musk has taken control of Twitter all of a sudden leftists realize that shadow bans are serious and very real, and they think that it's an abomination for one person to control a social media platform. Imagine Mark Zuckerberg's surprise when he found that one out... Given the level of control that the Dems have over CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, FB, Hollywood, etc it's shocking to see how apoplectic they're going just because Twitter has left the fold. The GOP suffered censorship, slander, libel and watched leftist disinformation run rampant on social media for years and couldn't do anything about it even when they had the WH. But a week after Musk announces that Twitter will have free speech the Dems have just announced that they're opening a new Ministry of Propaganda called the "Misinformation/Disinformation Governance Board". The board will be led by a woman who called the Hunter laptop story, which was 100% true, "a Trump campaign product". How's that for a slap in the face of truth? They're not even pretending that they aren't just circling the wagons around their own censorship and lies. The Dems don't even know that there will be any disinformation on Twitter yet but government regulation has already started. The GOP isn't even meaningful at all right now. Biden is destroying the country and they are just twiddling their thumbs, watching the Dems openly seize control over social media. It's not even a facade of democracy anymore. Just complete one-party rule.

I was looking at getting a new Ford Fusion Energi but when I found out that they were completely discontinuing them I balked. Instead I got a 2012 VW Passat TDI (diesel) and I get 800-860km on about 62 litres of fuel, and that's almost entirely city driving. I drive from Langley to Surrey a couple of times a week, that's about it for the hwy. I haven't gone further than Chilli with it yet, but theoretically it will get 1,000km to a tank on the hwy. It's in mint cond, it was only $11K, and had 83,000 km on it. Power moonroof, leather, cruise, heated seats, Fender audio, etc, pretty much everything but a heated steering wheel. Theoretically I should be able to get 300,000 km on it easily, because it's a diesel, and it's a decent-looking car imo. If you wanna go higher end the A6 TDI has a 3 litre diesel, it's the same one that the Touareg used. They're about $25-35K but they don't get the fuel economy of the 2L obviously. Love this car:

You guys have all of your batteries mixed up. There's nothing to recycling old car batteries - they're mostly water and lead. They're almost 100% recyclable at low cost and if you have one to get rid of you can get real money for them ($10-20) if you take them to Canadian Tire, etc. The batteries that we don't do a good job of recycling are the millions of nasty little AA batteries that end up in landfills, eventually leaking out toxins. You can take them to Staples, etc, and dispose of them for free, but it's so much easier for people to just throw them in the trash. EV batteries are over 1,000 pounds and they're very expensive to partially recycle. https://www.vice.com/en/article/xgxke4/when-tesla-says-it-recycles-100-of-its-batteries-what-does-that-mean

Ryerson is our MacBeth. Historians and scumbags like Shakespeare don't like people who they consider to be "other guys" who vastly elevated themselves above their peers. In MacBeth's case he had to be discredited because he was from the old royal lineage, while Ryerson was a highly religious person who also happened to be a social justice pioneer. The smarmy leftists in TO must have been over the moon to have the name changed to "Metropolitan" - it's so everything they want to be. Woke mob: "EWWWWWW! A religious cracker learned to speak a native language, suffered hardships to help the FN people learn modern ways, and helped them fight for their land rights? Hmmmm, I can't really have a religious white dude as my moral superior in any way, but all that I'm actually willing to do is post in some echo chambers, shriek unsubstantiated insults, and loot some stores. I know what we can do.... the same things as always - CHARACTER ASSASSINATION! YAAAY!" Maybe Ryerson will get the last laugh, but it will be a while in coming.

You were talking about Zelenski and I then I talked about Hunter's paycation in Ukraine and whether Ukrainians felt like they got their money's worth. This is a modern-era thread, not a historical one. 1) That's just your opinion, and 2) regardless of whether you think Trump is a lackey or a leader his leadership was unmistakably strong. Kushner made more progress between the Israelis and their neighbours than anyone else in the last 70 years and who gives a crap if he's Jewish? Who cares who his family friends are? Everyone in Washington has friends somewhere - it would be weird if they didn't. The peace prize nomination was well warranted, actual progress between Israel and it's neighbours is definitely worth a nod. The peace prize became a complete farce when Obama won it. If there was no one else worthy of receiving it then it should have just skipped a year. It's basically meaningless now.

You're talking about things that were done before the Trump/Biden kids were even born, and a lot of those things were more "American" than partisan. AFAIK the parties didn't even have their own media outlets back then. It was a different time. I was actually happy with Bill Clinton and I didn't want him removed from office. I was also not a fan of Dubya, but I did prefer him over Gore. It's up to Donald Trump who works in his office, and it's not nepotism when you hire the people who you feel are genuinely qualified. His policies were anything but a failure so there's little room for criticism on the topic of policy. In any event, having his kids do actual work for the US gov't is a huge step up from getting foreign companies/communist banks to lavish money on your kid. That's an enormous red flag, because no one gets something for nothing. Also, the US didn't have massive inflation, a war in Ukraine, an abysmal illegal immigration stampede, or spikes in violent crime when Trump was president. It's like there was an adult in the WH. You can question Trump's hubris and crass demeanour all day but on policy and getting things done for America he was "tha man". It's tough to say that Biden has done anything for America. Kushner.... https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/09/16/how-jared-kushner-proved-his-critics-wrong-416527 There is a long line of people, going back several decades, who served in the same role as Kushner and who were considered to be far more qualified, who never moved the yardsticks in the ME by an inch. You could make the case that trump was strong in the ME without starting any new shit, and that the number of bodybags full of American & ME-muslim youths that were a result of "Trump's hawkishness" were somewhere between few and none, so that helped Kushner a lot, but in any event Kushner is a ME rockstar if anyone wants to check his track record.

There are some like George "I hate real Republicans" Bush, no doubt, but nothing is as bad as the Dems carpet-bagging in Ukraine and then impeaching Trump for a phone call to Ukraine where he did nothing wrong. Dems who refused to believe that Joe knew about Hunter & Burisma, who refused to pay attention to Hunter/China, who said that the laptop was Russian disinformation and that talking about it was treason, were screaming about Trump's kids still selling off foreign properties that they had developed to..... sell. Trump's kids did the exact same jobs while Trump was President that they did in 2014, it was Hunter who got gobs of money and diamonds lavished on him from foreign countries for basically nothing. Hunter reeks to the high heavens of influence peddling. If he's not guilty of it, it's a 100% legitimate enterprise.

The Lie of Economic Impact from Border Blockade Debunked
WestCanMan replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What do you mean by "again"? Did they take a break for a while? -
I wonder if Ukrainians feel like they're getting their money's worth for all the cash that Hunter wheelbarrowed out of their country. On the one hand, they are getting a lot of shiny toys to shoot at the Russian soldiers who are destroying their cities, on the other hand, yeah, their cities are still getting destroyed. Lying about the reasons for war there and ignoring the Biden family's profiteering is probably the worst example of how western media works. If one of Trump's kids ran Hunter's scam there people's heads would be purple 24/7 at CNN, MSNBC, etc. The vein on the side of Rachel Maddow's head would be the size of the Nile. The FBI would be doing pre-dawn raids at the house of every living Republican and digging up all the ones that died in the last 10 years.

Elon Musk Buys Twitter
WestCanMan replied to Nationalist's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ad revenue. MacDonalds has a massive number of employees to pay, they pay utilities and taxes on properties all over the world, they buy all kinds of food, process it, ship it around, pay for marketing, etc. Their costs are quite high. If every poster here pooled all of our money we probably couldn't afford to buy all the straws that they use in a month. Twitter is on everyone else's phone/computer. They use their own electricity to go on Twitter. Then they look at ads and Twitter gets money for it. It's a pretty sweet deal for Twitter. -
I'm just gonna go ahead and guess that it's the same top-notch investigators who whatevered the SNC Lavalin scandal and the WE scandal.
