America under President Trump
WestCanMan replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Don't get me wrong, I agree with what Bernier said, I just don't think it's an argument that can withstand CBC's Liberal spin-doctoring.Trudeau will make a dozen straw-man arguments out of it, pontificate til the cows come home, and the CBC will make it into $650M worth of headline news. Election over. EDIT: I don't know how the Queenmandy post got into there, I thought I was just replying to taxme. Sorry for the confusion. -
Eyeball that would make sense if terrorism was a new thing, or if it was just Palestinians doing it (there are about 150 terrorist attacks per month worldwide https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_terrorist_incidents_in_January_2017), but it's been happening since before Palestine was created. It actually goes back 1,400 years, to when Mohammed was kicked out of Mecca for ostracizing people with different religious beliefs and destroying their idols (aka religious bigotry). And FYI the muslims aren't the innocent victims of european aggression that you make them out to be either. When they had the more powerful armies they used Europe as a happy hunting ground for slaves for about 400 years until the Crusades started. I'm not saying that's an excuse to go around killing anyone right now, I'm saying that 90% of all the people who ever lived in a muslim-controlled area lived a life of fear unless they converted because of the various forms of terrorism. What you call "intolerance" or "bigotry" here passes as "light conversation with infidel minorities" in wealthy, modernized Arab states. Sorry to spoil all your religiously-bigoted fun with actual facts.

Maxine Bernier is getting a bit too big for his britches, and playing right into Trudeau's hand at the same time. Like I said before, Trudeau's only chance of winning is to make the election into a virtue signalling competition. If the conservatives get drawn into the conversation that Bernier is opening up then we might end up with another Liberal government. We can't afford the debt, or the damage to our energy sector that comes along with that. -
If you're admitting that Trudeau's comments re: Canada having no core identity etc etc went full retard then we can at least agree on one thing. Part 2 though...wow, you must be such a great person because you call other people "racist". Just kidding, that comment you made was entirely ignorant and inflammatory. FYI racism isn't even a part of the discussion, the discussion is about cultural/religious differences. I'll just assume you meant xenophobia and massacre your idiotic argument from that perspective. More info for you - "diversity" isn't strength. Unity is strength. If people come here with the intention of being "Canadians with some ethnic flavour" or whatever you want to call it that's one thing, if people want to come here to still be __________s who just happen to live in this part of the world that's going to create the kinds of problems that Bernier was talking about. Trudeau is appealing to the balkanization of our country by his choice of rhetoric. It's fair to say that.

What Bernier tweeted wasn't racist at all, it was an accurate statement that's just untenable in the political arena. Conservatives have to either disavow or defend that statement, and Trudeau's only chance to win the election is to turn it into a virtue signalling competition. It's imperative for this country that Trudeau is defeated in the next election and if that means throwing Bernier under the bus then so be it. He's the one that did this to his own party. -
I am less than amused by what the CTV and presumably the CBC (I stopped watching a long time ago so I admit that I'm just guessing) consider newsworthy. We had to hear about Duffy's dastardly $90k for 3 full years while the PC's ran a balanced budget. To put that into perspective, that's enough money to build a couple of blocks of a city sidewalk. Now Trudeau is putting us in the hole to the tune of $130 Billion+, his flunkies are claiming $220K moving expenses, he accepted a private flight to the Bahamas in clear violation of ethics, he's continuing his father's crusade to kill the Alberta economy, and we are still hearing about Donald Trump's refusal to release his tax returns? Why is it that nothing Trudeau does is getting any coverage at all from mainstream media? He is running a complete gong show and CTV is blatantly looking elsewhere. We don't have any money in this massively overspending gov't to help the first nations deal with their suicide crisis. There's nothing for members of our military dealing with PTSD. Just a few hundred million to throw around to other countries here and there. The CTV considers it their divine purpose to be watchful of the Trump administration and they are completely missing the epic failure of this country's own government. It's unbelievable.

Trudeau did say that he wanted a Cabinet that represented Canada lol. I guess we need a few alcoholics and about 50% of them should smoke weed too.

The biggest problem is that the CBC is the propaganda branch of the Liberal party, to the tune of $675M/year. The $90K that Duffy blew was headline news for 3 years straight and the Conservatives were theoretically a bunch of criminals. Now Trudeau has rung up $30 Billion PLUS in debt (noone even knows how much anymore), dumped the country's gold stocks, and hamstrung the economy of Alberta and he's still the little darling of the CBC. Thanks but I'll take the $90K spending spree any day. Harper was branded as undemocratic but Trudeau officially banned a popular political opinion from the Liberal party and he's the CBC's poster boy for democracy. Nothing that I have ever heard of in Canadian politics is as undemocratic as a party leader publicly ordering his MPs to ignore the political will of their constituents. -

No doubt he gained it at the expense of the NDP. They're considered the union-friendly party and not many union types would appreciate the histrionics and weakness on display that day. In the short term I don't doubt that Trudeau supporters got a bit more vocal over that but people are starting to get a better understanding of who he is. He's not getting elected again. -

Rona Ambrose hit the nail on the head. 1)Trudeau completely disrespected people. 2)That type of behaviour isn't acceptable in any workplace. Would you let anyone touch you that way? 3)It is embarrassing to the country, he should be ashamed. Other people should be ashamed too. The NDP, Mulcair, the snivelling wimp chick especially. -

That's understandable - his followers are slower than usual. -

As an atheist myself I'll tell you the main difference between these religions that's actually visible from space if you're not blind or mentally incapacitated: some religions, eg christianity and buddhism, have positive role models to follow. It's tough to get a majority to go "satanic" because it's against what they have been taught to aspire to all their lives. one religion in particular has a role model who committed genocide, forced rape on thousands of women, took women and children as actual slaves, married a 6 year old. It's not tough to get them to go "satanic" because that is what they aspire to. Go ask a muslim if Mohammed was evil. Just man up and do it. They will either switch the topic to "Americans blah blah blah" or threaten to kill you. That's their only play. It's a well-established fact that Mohammed was truly evil but they don't teach you that in college. -

You got it backwards there Bubber. Trudeau's popularity is already declining half a year into his idiocracy. -

I'm slightly disappointed with Trudeau. That's about it. He can't do wrong by liberals anyways and Cons already know he's an idiot. Mulcair just once again proved that he's the angry ass that I always said he was. "The only guy who could start a war between Canada and the US" I think was my actual quote. TBH I'm more disappointed with Canadian politicians in general. What a gong show. As for the crying waif with the sore boob missing the vote, she's the most pathetic one of all. She's the poster child for "men should get paid more than women" because no man would fail to do his job on account of a little bump like that. -
The first thing I read after I wrote that post was about Trudea's little mini-brawl in the HOC lol. Impeccable timing.
-
I don't think we can be too hard on Canadian politicians after seeing the dog's breakfast that came up for the Democratic and Republican nominations lol. I'd probably take Trudeau over any of those guys and Trudeau is basically our own enemy.
-
Right. And then he went and eliminated it for everyone else in his income bracket at the same time as he started taking even more than anyone else ever had. Get it? And so you're admitting that he isn't a hypocrite. That must have been tough for you. TBH when rich people get a child care subsidy in a lot of cases it's beneficial for the country. Say a couple of doctors get it. Now the wife goes back to practicing medicine earlier (bonus) and they create a job for someone else (bonus). It's not beneficial when someone is going to be at home with no job anyways, and now they just get to spend more time doing their hobbies. Like public speaking engagements, playing candy crush saga, etc. IIRC the Cons reduced their pensions while in office and Trudeau raised the pay scale.

All you have is baseless accusations and a complete lack of interest in understanding anything. There's a saying that you can always get 50% of the poor people to kill the other 50%. It's because they are just looking for someone to blame for their situation. This is a classic case of someone forming an opinion based on a complete lack of objectivity and then...
-
It's no myth. Trudeau jumped on the soapbox and said his family didn't need childcare help from the gov't and then they jumped at it the first chance he got. That right there is the definition of hypocrisy whether you want to admit it or not. He has enough money to pay for nannies himself, and then Sophie can have the help she so desperately needs to save our country.
-
Not as bad as trump imo. And at least DC is smart enough to know that he's not the guy to run for office.
-
No matter. The fact is that they don't get less staff, they just have different job descriptions.
-
3 plus 2 nannies? Or 3 plus 0 nannies?

I don't know anyone who agrees with Don Cherry the majority of the time, but almost everyone appreciates his honesty. He doesn't take the time to filter his opinions down to fit within the CBC's guidelines. It's ok within the confines of hockey (usually) but his bombast and his lack of tact and diplomacy is too much for politics. Just like Trump. I'm confident that he wouldn't get elected to anything higher than city councellor. Mike Duffy always looks like he just came out of an adult superstore with his rabbi/priest/imam staring at him. His political career is over before it begins.
