When Christians take slaves, marry young children or behead prisoners of war they are not emulating Jesus Christ. When Muslims take slaves, marry young children or behead prisoners of war they are following the exact path of Mohammed. You could make a strong argument that followers of ISIS are "more Muslim" than the moderates. -

I live in an area that's got an enormous indo-Canadian population. There have been a lot of Chinese coming here in recent months as well. To be certain there will be a few bad apples in every bunch, just like there were in my high school, but the only real barriers I ever see are language-related. I see in everyone the desire to contribute to society and I see more than just "tolerance" here. I see acceptance and even people celebrating along with other cultures. Diwali, Christmas, Chinese new year... I doubt there's a stat out there that says Asians don't do well economically here. Their real estate purchases are the backbone of the BC economy. I don't think it's impossible for our liberal society here to eventually fail. I think we have our choice of accepting decent people from all over the world. I don't know why we would scrape the bottom of the barrel. The absolute last people that we want to bring in here are terrorists or sympathizers and there's absolutely no doubt we are getting a lot of sympathizers at the very least. -

Christianity is evolving, it has been for centuries. All the main groups coming out of it share less hostile beliefs than those in the old testament. Maybe that's due to the fact their spiritual leader is reputed to have done good things when he walked the earth. Islam isn't evolving, and the splinter groups are almost always more depraved than the bulk of society. Furthermore, all the muslim countries that attempt moderation inevitably lapse back into old-world immorality. Maybe that's due to the fact that their spiritual leader reputedly, and unapologetically tended to do things like marry young children, and take slaves and preside over actions like the genocide of the Banu Qurayza when he walked the earth. Can a man really call a guy like that a prophet and then come to the conclusion that committing similar acts is immoral or evil? That was a rhetorical question, I know that there isn't a hope in hell you will answer that. When Khudi tackles the sensitive issue of whether or not beheading whole towns was actually bad, and their collective peer pressure is enough to force radicalism into the shadows, I will believe that Islam has found a cure for the demented wild dog factions of Islam. The world is clearly not seeing that right now, is it slick? Look at the view from 20,000 feet, not the view from "my next-door neighbour has never tried to commit genocide, they are probably all the same". Specific ares of moderation are nice and all, but clearly the moderates aren't nearly strong enough to clean up Islam's back yard. They seem to just run and look the other way, camouflaging the radicals as they spread out. -

Riiiight. And can you explain to me how anyone is going to tell a billion muslims that they're doing it all wrong? That their prophet was doing it wrong? -

Your logic is wrong, and it's all over the place. 1) when some idiot kills cops that come to arrest them that is in no way comparable to terrorists looking for people to kill in the name of their religion. 2) you've got: two crackpots acting in isolated incidents with absolutely no backing whatsoever from any one of the 40 Million Canadians vs 2 attackers from a population of less than 1 million that has moderate amounts of active supporters and a large number of sympathizers. plus there are even more would-be attackers who have been stopped short of successfully committing acts of terrorism. So you see slick, there's an enormous community with almost no terrorists and even less support vs a small group with several terrorists and they are embraced by their community to a sickening extent. 3) I didn't see anyone saying that we need to ban muslims from entering the country, but taking in massive numbers from the world's leading terrorist hotbed is just stupid. -

So much truth and accuracy in that statement. Any newbie to democracy would be right up to speed with the way govt's work after reading that paragraph. -

You're the one with your head in the sand if you think that it isn't happening. They say it on tv, they post it all over the internet, they take credit for the events after they have occurred, it's a core part of their belief that sharia law is their only path to heaven, and you've seen the evidence of all the murders yourself. I think that you don't have any idea what happened in Banu Qurayza (now Medina), under Mohammed's command. There's no way to sugar coat that. If the Canadian Gov't went to the city of Medina and did that to it's residents today you'd lose your mind. -
When will we see an affordable electric car ?
WestCanMan replied to Cruze's topic in Health, Science and Technology
The Ford Fusion Energi is an amazing vehicle imo. IIRC it's about $38K and that's nicely equipped. It's a plug-in hybrid, so you could theoretically run it forever on electricity if you just used it as a commuter car. For me the main drawback of using an electric vehicle is the cost of replacing the battery. People who can afford a $10,000 - $15,000 hit can take the risk, I can't imagine going to the mechanic and getting hit with something like that. -

A lot of those people are just nutjobs who are off their meds, but if we take that number at face value it's actually still evidence of the ridiculous level of violence that Americans face from Mohammed wannabes. Muslims are less than 1/10th of the population and they have almost as many murders as the majority. What's worse is that they are all doing it for the exact same purpose - they are indoctrinated by their religion into killing American citizens for being American. It's not just a random smattering of unrelated events. -

Wow that's a really interesting spin Big Guy. It has no basis in reality though. Canada shares no more blame for the Syrian refugee crisis than it does for the genocide at Banu Qurayza. -

I appreciate the truth in that statement, but neglecting to use the word "war" will not circumvent the laws of the Geneva conventions. Canadian and allied soldiers will still be bound by the same rules that worked against them in Afghanistan and Yugo. -

In the Liberal party even. Watch Elias Hezineh's (former liberal party organizer) video . And don't forget that our wonderful PM even supported an accomplished terrorist publicly. If you Google "pm trudeau supports a terrorist" it comes up. That's in Canada. CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO LINK -

Nissan Leaf is only 32K, plus you can get gov't rebates up to $8,500. That's not so bad. -

We are spending $1,000,000,000 on Syrian refugees, where is that money coming from? What's more important: having a military or supporting 45,000 refugees? -
The conservative gov't is doing a good job of staying on point and not whining or grandstanding, the leaders of the opposition during Harper's reign were completely unable to say anything positive. Ban Ki Moon doesn't have to say anything to Trudeau to get him to fund Palestinians, he's throwing around money like it's going out of style. Trudeau's selfie will be immortalized on the 33 cent dollar.

For sure. Islam isn't a religion per se, it's an entire way of life. The codes of conduct outlined in the Quran and the Hadith are the only things that muslims recognize as a legitimate source of governance in their life.

Sexual Misconduct in Canadian Forces
WestCanMan replied to Big Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You and I have no idea what it's like to be in charge of 100 guys who came from Yugo where they were sifting through the snow to pick up the body parts of small children from the genocides. Guys who would spend days at a time in small groups of 4 or 5 at isolated observation points, an hour away from reinforcements, where they had to go through lines of the opposing sides to get home. Before I knew what PTSD was I knew how much alcohol those guys would drink when they sat down at the bar. They would buy two doubles and order two more ten minutes later, go at that pace for about an hour and then be falling down drunk. The standard of conduct there does get pretty low at times, but life in the military is hard and you can't really just chuck all those guys in jail after their first or second or third mistake after all they've been through. It's 100% unacceptable for men to behave that way, but policing those guys requires superhuman understanding and by definition no one has that. Honestly, if a woman can't handle a bit of sexual misconduct then they surely can't handle picking body parts out of the snow. Here's something you won't find a link for. When the HMCS provider was getting ready to go to the gulf war in '95 it had a mess with 42 women in it. Within the 3 months between finding out they were going and the departure date 17 women got pregnant and were unable to go. They ship was forced to choose between sailing 17 members short or replacing all 42 with crew members who would be new to the boat, and would require specific training and a time period to get accustomed to finding their way around the new boat, get used to their new action stations, etc. It was obviously easier to sail 17 short, but think about how many tried to get pregnant in that time period in order for that many to succeed. I served my country and I find it extremely doubtful that women can serve in a combat role in the army or navy alongside men. Maybe the air force, I don't know. War changes people in ways that laymen like you and I don't understand. -
Yeah and in reality they did a lot of work over the years as well. Life on the prairies was extremely hard up until about 50 years ago and the people of Canada built something amazing, something that is the envy of most of the world. They built schools, roads, hospitals, universities, malls, libraries and a culture of tolerance, generosity and understanding. Tens of thousands of people are coming here right now to milk us for all they can, they will bitch about the fact that they can't marry young children here, they will proclaim for all to hear that certain consenting adults are forbidden to have sex or they deserve death, and they will continue to try to make this country more like the hate factories they came from. Countries that had a ten-thousand year head start on us and yet somehow remain hundreds of years behind where we were at the dawn of confederation.

Who wanted to live in rural Saskatchewan or Alberta in 1872? Who wanted to clear 40 acres, build a farmhouse and outbuildings, cultivate 40 or more acres with oxen and horses, pump water from a well, cut and haul firewood or shovel coal, just for the privilege of trying to survive the prairie winters? You get 7 hrs and 28 minutes of daylight in Edm on dec 21, the rest of the day for them was Oil lamps and a wood or coal-burning stove. No internet, no tv, not even radio. The only music you heard came from people in the same room as you. Those prairie kids didn't have a cozy ride to school on the bus or in mommy's suv. My mom's family never had electricity in their house until the 1950's. They also worked in coal mines, my grandfather died from it. The free 160 acres wasn't the big payday that you think it was, don't act like the land that they got in some way made them well off, or was the equivalent of a big fat welfare payoff. There was no clothing allowance, no free medical/dental/eyewear (the church ran most of the hospitals, but it's ok to cut christmas and every other offensive aspect of christianity from those communities now in favour of "freedom of every other religion"), no bitching about slow internet connections or small tv's. After all that western canada supplied 50% of our military in the wars despite having only 1/6th of the population. There are a lot of good reasons your family stayed out east, and I think that the Syrians have it a lot easier than my family did when they came here. You smugly throw that stat out there like a little trivia answer and I doubt that you've ever done as much hard work in a month as those homesteaders did in a day. I just quickly googled 160 acres for sale in Alberta and came up with this: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-land-for-sale/edmonton/160-acres-1-4-section-for-sale-lamont/1140292331?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true $324K for 160 acres in Lamont Alberta. There are 100's of condos in White Rock worth 5 times that amount. 160 acres in western alberta still isn't a huge windfall.

It's ironic that you tried to use that cartoon to poke fun at the lack of knowledge of the author and instead you ended up articulating your broad lack of knowledge on every aspect of the issue and chiding him for omitting extraneous information. FYI: - this issue is largely between AB & Sask and Que & Ont. We all know there are other provinces and territories but they aren't central to the debate and the cartoonist actually didn't need to draw them to make his point. -the oil crosses Canada one way or another, rail hasn't proven to be all that safe -do you use any of that "toxic sludge"? Drive a car, or use almost any product that's in every other household in Canada? -Ont & Quebec already have existing pipelines pumping Oil, but it comes from the middle east -Alberta and Saskatchewan are selling raw exports as fast as they can, what a farce. Who doesn't sell what Oil they have, produce agriculture, or mine if they have the resources available? They don't want to export refining jobs, or livestock processing jobs, etc. Factors outside of the provinces demand those jobs and the federal gov't complies with whatever leverage they have at hand. Putting higher taxes and tariffs on the transportation of packaged meat than meat on the hoof is an example of that. -the bc gov't ridiculing AB for their lack of economic diversity is a lark. BC's main export by far is the ownership of real estate. Second place isn't even close. Talk about unsustainability lol. Manufacturing was about 7th here last time I checked. I'm not that familiar with the economies of Ont and Que, but I know that the feds subsidize them more per capita than anyone out west. -you are typical of the crowd that wants to take take take when the money is in Alberta, now that they are suffering you think it's a good time to ridicule? That's a personality flaw, not something to post on social media. -fyi diversifying in alberta requires more population, but the gov't directs the money for diversification elsewhere within the country. People go where the gov't wants to place the jobs.
