  1. Muslims are his least favorite, I would say. He much prefers European immigrants. If he can't get European, Asian will do.
  2. Argus has no use for immigrants, unless they are of a certain heritage, and no amount of factual information will change his mind. You notice how quickly he resorts to insults? That means you are making sense and he can't handle that.
  3. Had no idea a "White History Month" had been proposed. Every month is "White History Month" as far as I can tell. There are an awful lot of monuments, special days, museum exhibits, history books, school courses, TV shows, documentaries and movies describing and celebrating White European history and accomplishments already. Having a whole special month for that would seem like overkill. Taking a month off from our own narcissism to focus on someone else is good for us, reminds us that we aren't the only game in town.
  4. Well said. I feel pride in being Canadian, in the Western ideals of equality and freedom. My skin color seems irrelevant to being Canadian and supporting those ideals.
  5. Great OP and question. I think that part of the answer is that our society expects men to be physically and emotionally "strong" - they can be angry and they are expected to be horny. They can't be vulnerable, scared, uncertain, confused, or disinterested in sex. The idea that a woman could force a disinterested man into sex is anathema to this view of a strong man. A woman can "trick" a man into sex, using his pervasive horniness against him, but this still protects the image of a strong male because everyone knows that a "real" man always wants sex and only turns it down in pursuit of higher ideals. A woman who uses "tricks" to subvert a man's efforts to remain chaste or faithful is in the wrong while the man can be forgiven for succumbing to her temptations. Certainly the issue of female sexual, mental and physical abuse of men and boys is not addressed nearly as well as it could be in our society. Men often don't report women who are physically abusive because too often the response is disbelief that he would "let" a mere woman do this to him. Equally, a response that assumes a man always wants\enjoys sex makes reporting sexual assault challenging for a man. His "manly" strength is questioned and in our society male weakness is not acceptable. Edited to add: I posted this before I read the article linked by Goddess, which says something very similar.
  6. One of the PUBLIC swimming pools here closes once a month so that nudists can go swimming without any clothes; clearly discriminating against people who want to wear bathing suits. Why should these people have the right to impose their nakedness on the rest of us? PUBLIC.swimming pools here also close for birthday parties, again discrominating against people who aren't having birthday parties. How dare they! The two PUBLIC pools closest to me rotate their "womens only" sessions, this discriminating against men to accommodate their sexist agenda. /s Public swimming pools closing to accommodate special groups is nothing new; it has been happening for decades. The issue here isn't that pools accomodate some groups, its because the group that is being accommodated is "Muslim".
  7. Conservatives would fit in much better with the hate-filled racist, discrimnatory and oppressive regimes in those places.
  8. My grand-niece is visiting my sister (her Grandmother) in Egypt. My sister posted a pic of 3 women and my grand-niece; two of the women in the pic were wearing hijab, one was not. All three women are employees of my brother-in-law. Grand-niece was also not wearing an hijab and my sister never does. My sister has also worked in Egypt and finds some women wear hijab to work and some do not. Certainly there are people in Egypt who think women should wear a headscarf, or cover themselves entirely from head to toe (my sister has argued with them), but that doesn't mean everyone in Egypt believes the same.
  9. Wow, they must be excellent employees if Bruce Power was willing to accommodate them to that degree. All the smokers I have ever worked with have been paid for their entire shift, despite several smoke breaks. Also, research tells us that people who take several smaller breaks per day are more productive than those who take fewer breaks, even if the breaks are longer. https://www.forbes.com/sites/kevinkruse/2017/02/06/want-to-get-more-done-try-taking-more-breaks/ Maybe more, but shorter breaks would be good for everyone.

Misogyny? Really? Oh right. I have to look at who's saying that. Context is everything.

  12. Its ok. I take some of your posts more seriously, plus I didn't mind the mini lesson on geo-politics.
  13. Yup, I am not particularly well-versed in geopolitics. On the other hand, I don't feel it's necessary to respond to trollers with any semblance of serious discussion.
  14. The world seems to be getting more dangerous because of US Policy under Trump. So far in his term, he's threatened war against N Korea and now Venezuela, and he's called Canada a security risk. He's spent considerable time alienating the allies you want to contribute to his war efforts, while cozying up to those who we were previously allied against. I don't see how we can bolster our collective effort to save the world from war, unless it's all of us (Canada, Europe, China etc.) against the US and Russia.
  15. If America wanted to take care of it's citizens rather than wage war in other countries, it would. America has aggressively pursued it's destiny; whining about it now just makes you look foolish.
  16. All so very real life and so representative of the average person! /s
  17. Whereas a woman can agree to go on a date with a man, get raped and then be disbelieved/shamed/shunned. Or killed. Women have been living with this reality throughout history; only in the last 30 years have things begun to change in Western countries. In other countries, women still are both the victims and the.perpetrators of their own rapes. Yeah, women falsely accusing men of rape is wrong, so I am not supporting that. But its also true that false accusations of rape constitute 2% to 10% of all rape accusations and that false rape claims very rarely result in jail time for men. Even true rape claims often don't end up with men facing any significant jail time. So the narrative that women routinely use rape charges to punish men is false, and only continues to try to discredit women whenever and however they can. Perhaps men should spend a little more energy and effort on educating their sons/brothers/fathers on appropriate behavior rather than relying on "women are spiteful liars and should be avoided" rhetoric. https://qz.com/980766/the-truth-about-false-rape-accusations/
  18. How many gay couples with kids do you know? How many have great kids compared to those with awful kids? My colleague at work has been married to her husband for over two decades and has four boys. One of those boys is a problem child, 3 are not. Another colleague has two kids, one great and one with issues. My niece, a single parent with 4 kids, has one over-achiever, one problem child and two who are just kids. Can you please put these anecdotes into your tidy socially acceptable boxes? Can you provide quality scientific studies supporting your contention that most kids of gay couples have problems, compared to hetero couples. Can you provide quality scientific studies that show kids of single mothers are problem kids that doesn't actually point to poverty as being the issue, rather than parenting. I believe kids do best when their parent(s) are loving, available, consistent and supportive - as well as being able to provide necessities of life. Given that, kids can thrive whether they have one or two parents, or what gender those parents are.
  19. And those who claim they aren't allowed to say "Merry Christmas" any more. Or that their lives have been irremediably damaged because people with different customs moved next door.
  20. The "entitlement" is among those who think they deserve advantages provided not because they worked for it, but only because they were born within the dominant class. It isn't those who are one-down because they happened to have been born poor, or Black or with drug addicted parents, or with physical or mental challenges. Or even those born in war-ravaged places. I am also part of the dominant class, and I am grateful every day that my accident of birth put me in position to succeed with relatively little effort. I am ok if other people, lacking my unearned advantages, get a little extra helping hand so they also can succeed with a little effort.
  21. From Mediabiascheck Your News Wire publishes some legit news, however most stories are related to conspiracies and/or simply misleading fake news. Your News Wire is a clickbait website that is listed on Factcheck.org’s fake news list. Not even Fox News has repeated this false 'news' story. A Joel Davis was arrested, but his claim to fame was that he started an anti-abuse organization, while abusing children himself. For accurate news, go mainstream.
  22. If Roe vs. Wade is overturned, the regressive Christian right (RCR) in Canada will look for a political candidate who will promise to open that debate. Someone will oblige. Whether that candidate ever gets elected depends on the political will of the RCR. We certainly don't have to worry about Islamists forcing their religious beliefs on us, the RCR is already all over that.
  23. Did the signees have to be Republican, or could anyone sign? Couldn't he have run as an independent?
  24. People have influenced him, he influences others and the "movement" spreads. Canada is still pretty safe for Jews, Muslims, Catholics and Blacks, but reports of religious and ethnically motivated crime are up, so I wouldn't agree that the hate he constantly tries to spread is irrelevant.
