  1. Your initial post started out by making it "the reasonable side" vs. "The evil progressives". You set it up that way, as you usually do; of course you lack both insight and honesty so you'll deny it in ever escalating insults.
  2. For the same stupid reason Muslims, Arabs, Blacks, Hispanics, Catholics, Chinese etc., are or have been disliked throughout history. It's because brain-dead humans, such as yourself, believe in their own superiority. Because too many humans require something or someone to 'hate' in order to be feel good about themselves. When people such as yourself have become extinct, when humans have rid themselves of the 'my tribe is better than your tribe' mentality, that is when global peace and prosperity will finally have a chance.
  3. Despite the usual simplistic arguments favored by the OP , the reasons women don't progress in the corporate world are more complicated than "women don't/won't work as hard". Societal norms affect all of us, men and women. Male parents can work longer hours because of the expectation that the women in their life (wife, mother) will do the majority of home care and childcare. Female parents are expected to be the ones to take maternity leave, to leave early when their child is sick, to stay home with that sick child, to manage the household in addition to their career aspirations. Do most men *want* to work longer, or would they rather have the freedom to spend more time with their kids and family? Do most women *want* to be the default caretaker of home/children, or would they like the support to focus on their career? Men, no less than women, are forced into roles that they may not necessarily want by society expectations based on gender. Equality shouldn't be just about women making certain quotas, or how many get hired where - but about equal opportunity and acceptance to be parents and CEOs, whether male or female.
  4. Clearly, it is not the "opposite"; again, this article talks about faculty - not Corporate hiring or advancement. Finding *one* area where women are preferred does not mean sexist hiring practices do not exist in the other realms. However, it is good news - where universities lead, so will the rest of the world follow. :)
  5. Are there "CEO"s among faculty, because that is what your original post talks about. Women failing to progress up the Corporate ladder is entirely different than being hired on to Universities. Here's information that you, like many men, will belittle and dismiss; your attitude is described in the second link. http://www.businessinsider.com/women-are-less-likely-to-get-promoted-2015-10 https://womenintheworkplace.com/
  6. When studies demonstrate that merely changing the name on an otherwise identical resume from female to male results in better call back, then the claims made by Argus and supported by Ghosthacked are just more patriarchal BS designed to deny anti-female bias in the corporate world.
  7. People in hospitals are free to leave if they want, even against medical advice. People in prisons are not.
  8. We already do "something": we warehouse at-risk individuals after they've committed violence, usually in prisons and sometimes in mental institutions. Mental institutions might be slightly better at rehab, but effective rehabilitation in prisons would be a far more effective strategy to reduce risk to the public. However, our Abrahamic religious tradition says "punish the misbehaving people" and that is where our society languishes. The knowledge for improving rehabilitation and reducing or.managing mental illness is pretty well known already, its the lack of society's will to implement this knowledge that is the issue. As far as politicians/people are concerned, effectively addressing mental health issues is too expensive and effectively rehabilitating criminals isn't punishing enough and is "soft on crime".
  9. Over the last number of years, various States have been systematically reducing access to abortion. As a result, we find this: Thanks to the Christian Right forcing their ideology on women, more women are at risk of complications or even death from non-medical abortion attempts and babies are not being saved.
  10. Every prisoner is 'at risk' for more criminal behavior, yet we make minimal efforts to reduce that risk. Its been known for decades how best to rehabilitate criminals and reduce recidivism; we still prefer punishment first and rehabilitation as an afterthought. Its also been studied and understood for decades that solitary confinement creates a whole host of psychological problems in people, yet that is still very much a part of the prison system. I have no faith that there is any social or political will for real rehabilitation of at-risk individuals, either before or after their violence erupts.
  11. Petri dish contains a fertilized human ovum, being prepped for artificial insemination which = baby, for you. So, who should be saved first: lab tech or fertilized human ovum?
  12. Disapproval and disdain rarely persuades anyone; isn't that what the deplorables told us with the election of Donald Trump? Experts in communucation claim that respect, understanding and friendliness works much better to change minds. If this is true and if the goal is to persuade China to improve human rights, perhaps JT will be more effective than Harper. On the other hand, if the goal is to simply signal disapproval and convince Canadians of our moral superiority, then Harper's approach may be more effective.
  13. I am learning that if I have an emotional reaction to a story, good or bad, it would be a good idea to consider it suspect. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/ examines sources and rates them as left-bias, left-center bias, center, right-center bias, right-bias based on their use of emotional words and stereotypes. I've found it useful from time to time, and maybe others will as well. If you want some least-biased sources, check out this page: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/center/
  14. Certainly the West and capitalism have their issues, but "all that is evil" seems hyperbolic to me. Along with the bad, there has been much good in the way the Western world has developed over the past few hundred years. It may be true that we are on the downslope of our particular civilization, but painting it as "all bad" is no more accurate than painting the Middle East as irredemiably evil.
  15. Do you seriously think Jesus would approve of Trump? And if Jesus was not involving himself in the political world and advising his followers to also keep themselves separate, why would Christians allow themselves to be so involved in politics, whether its supporting a lying adulterer, or seeking political power and calling themselves Christian?
  16. Matthew 22:39, “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself..” Romans 15:7 "Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God." Matthew 7:2 "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again" Luke 6:27-29 27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. 29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also Perhaps you can find scripture where Jesus instructs Christians to build walls to keep people away, to pre-judge strangers as criminals, to refuse to help those who are suffering, to support and promote leaders who lie and cheat.
  17. Trump did make an issue of his opponent's age so I have no idea what you are talking about. Although no doubt you believe his daily lies.
  18. What problem do you have with the rest of the world? Doesn't your Lord tell you to accept the world, to be generous, not to pre-judge? Seems to me JT is following those principles and Trump is not.
  19. He doesn't "dare" anything. He's an old man, likely suffering from early stages of dementia, ranting and raving, unable to remember from day-to-day what he actually believes.
  20. Sure, anyone can. Well, except for those who are born with certain disadvantages - autism, Down's Syndrome, FAS, any number of other genetic diseases. Then there are people who are born fine, but through accident or disease lose congnitive or physical function. But hey "everyone" can make 6 figures, right? And as much as you like to think you did it all on your own, you had plenty of help from people all your life, from your grade school teachers who never made even close to $100,000 to administrative support staff in every company in which you've held a job. The grocery store clerks, retail clerks, barbers, hairstylists, dry cleaners, bank tellers: everyone you pay or rely on to provide a service helped you succeed. Lucky you that not everybody wants your material success because if they did, just imagine the result. You should be grateful for your success and the success of your kids, not whining about how unfair it is.
  21. Sure they have entitlement to the money they earn, minus that which is due to the country through income tax. What they are not entitled to is to biatch because they make so much money than anyone else and its so "unfair", poor little rich snowflakes. Nor are they entitled to think that their luck in making lots of money entitles them to more political power than those who have not been as lucky. Anyway, there are plenty of nice countries with no income tax. Move there is this country is not to your liking.
  22. How are leftists and globalist "imposing" anything? Leftist\globalist: you can be gay, transgender, feminist, take birth control, not take birth control, have an abortion, not have an abortion, go to Church, not go to Church, believe in God, not believe in God, marry someone you love or not marry at all. You cannot beat anyone up or treat people with disrespect if they believe differently than you do. Conservative Religious people: You should not be allowed to have an abortion, be gay, be transgender or marry certain people because it offends me. I should not have to treat you with respect if you offend me. My God is the true God and my country and society would be better off if what I believe was imposed on everyone. I would like that to happen, therefore I support people I think or hope would get us closer to the goal of ensuring women can't have abortions and gays and transgender people are not acceptable in my country. Who has the agenda of imposing their beliefs on everyone? Is it the "live and let live" leftists and globalists or the "Its my job to pursue God"s will for myself and everyone else" conservative religious person? Be honest.
  23. I get it. The Christians who support Trump do so because they hope he'll impose their conservative Christian beliefs on everyone in the country. This is the same reason some Egyptians supported Morsi: they wanted their conservative Islamic beliefs imposed on everyone in the country.
  24. I don't resent the wealth other people have. I find reprehensible the entitled attitude some of those people exhibit, whining about how unfair it is that they pay more taxes because they make so much more money, and suggesting that those who have the lowest income and no wealth should have their right to vote taken away.
