Nope, that's been floated down the river long ago. I am doing an elective procedure that is fairly major, but will hopefully lessen my burden later on our health care system. I have to think how to incite a new thread debate on an issue such as mine, although I don't think there would be any. It's a win win situation, providing I survive tomorrow. My observation was merely that more members of this board seems to be more sympathetic to the conservative way of thinking as opposed to when I first came around here. I thought perhaps it was because of the change in government and a mini groundswell in that direction. Greg, It never crossed my mind that it may be the absence of certain members who had been banned. I guess in theory, you could influence the board in that way. I don't see anything to gain from that however, so I'm sure you haven't.

To me, that is right sided thinking. Am I wrong? And there seems to be more threads popping up like that. Hell, a few months ago Dubya was getting lambasted daily. It seems since us Canucks are in the shit now in Afghanistan that there seems to be more support for the military and that way of thinking. All those things make me think that the board is swaying with our government somewhat.

This board has definitely shifted right. I'm actually getting people who AGREE with my posts once in a while. That never happened before the federal election. I think that had something to do with it. Either more conservatives have come out with something to say, or the middle grounded people have leaned over more. Shady, you nailed it. It's not revenge at all for Nick Berg or anyone else. It's to save all the people he hasn't got around to killing yet. The USA dropped a bomb on the guy to save any servicemen from getting killed having to take him by force. If this wasn't done, I can just imagine how long his trial would have lasted and what a gong show it would have been. This guy was an unredeemable bad guy. Sorry Mr Berg, I saw the vid and personally I'll stand on Bushes side of the room all day on this one. I'd settle for revenge myself, but that's just me.

Bob Dole, George Bush Sr, John McLain, etc. I personally know quite few real ones too. Why do you think the USA needs a good war every 30 years or so? One of the reasons I'm sure is to keep good inventory of bona-fide heros. There are a ton of kickass Canadians out there too. We just don't treat them with the same rah-rah-the flag mentality and they don't advertise as much.

Agreed about the media thing. Let's face it. The USA public needs a propaganda score every now and then to offset all the dead heros and to remind people that there's still work being done over there. I will hazard a guess that criminals like Zarkowi(never mind the spelling, you get the point) are getting blown up and dug out of ratholes every day over there. This operation was but one of probably many more that we never hear about. We won't know if killing this a**hole had any impact until later on.

A random thought... Terrorist seems to be the catch all word for criminals who are of muslim stereotypical appearance these days. If the people who were arrested are from Canada and have no outside affiliation, why are they terrorists rather than gang members, organised criminals, or merely thugs? Do I smell witch hunt or possible propaganda campaign? Perhaps if they are deemed terrorists, then certain laws prevail that are not accessable otherwise for prosecutorial purposes.

Thank you Aug. The very idea of a state based on religion whether it's Jews or Muslims is fundamentaly different than the core values of western civilization. I think somehow Israel is a paradox or at least a contradiction in calling itself a democracy while at the same time being a Jewish state. While I do not embrace the actions of the Palestinians at all, I can see their point in having Hamas as a legitimate government as it was elected democratically. The plot thickens.... :angry:

Germany, why didn't the allied powers slice off a chunk of land right there and give it to the Jews at that time? War on Terror....hmmm. To call this a 'war' insinuates what? If the USA loses, they're toast? Are they fighting for the survival of the nation? Is this similar to WW2? I don't think so. The USA can pull out of the whole middle east tomorrow. They hold all the cards. In the grand scheme of things, Bush should have called this the ' Continuing PITA against Terrorists'. If this was a real war, life would be much different and it would have been over long ago. USA can go around slapping peepees in the middle east, but they have to never blink while Russia and China watches.

The USA needs an enemy to make the economy thrive. There's no way to be 'good' if there's no 'bad' out there somewhere. Let's face it, the US was wallowing in obese people addicted to television and had no real purpose in life once the cold war wound down. There were no goals, nothing to push against, no timetables to keep. There was no reason to keep a big military and spend all that money on it. Life was boring. It's like the whole country was on hold, stuck in a rut. Clinton in office. Cue 911.

I have to agree with Hillary. These people were not on a mission, but a paid individual triumph sport and to abandon it to merely save someones 'life' just wouldn't be financially viable. One could easily trivialize the death by bragging about the summit, but it would be hard to brag about saving someones life while abandoning the summit. It must be hard for them to climb so high with their heads up their asses. It shows a further degradation of society in the materialistic world we live in. And to solidify my opinion, where's the money for the expedition to collect all the bodies?
