The union works as well as, if not better, than the US. The only difference is unlike the US, Canada has created a culture where people obsess about their regional identity and look for cop out solutions like seperation instead of actually trying to resolve the differences.As others have noted: most of the royalties from Texas and Alaska oil go to the federal government yet you do not hear Texans and Alaskans whining about breaking up the US. If we are that irrelevant and they don't want to include us on the federal elections, I say to hell with them, the west should boycott the next election. Kimmy, When you paint a picture for us like that, you are at the very least, categorizing, and at the worst, racially profiling these fellows. I think that the general underlying problems in Canada preclude any majority government from happening at all. I think it may be a Conservative minority, but it could fall back to the Liberals again. In either case, the election will have been a waste of taxpayers money thanks to the NDP who I understand forced the election. The underlying problems I am talking about are Quebec's quest for a distinct society while imposing their will on the rest of the country, western alienation, immigrant problems, and a split of opinions on our brothers to the south. I would welcome a complete revamp of the electorial process in Canada to fairly represent the different areas of the country. We are so past the era of 'what's good for Ontario and Quebec is good for the rest of the country'. I think our federal government is too full of kissass politicians and WAY short on competent leaders.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as 'girliemen.' Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy and group hugs ang eh concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divede the meat and beer that conservatives provided. Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the Jacka$$. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't "fair" to make the pitcher also bat. Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, marines, athletes and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living. Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to "govern" the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals belive Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tame and created a business of trying to get MORE for nothing. Here ends today's lesson in world history: It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to respond to the above before simply laughing and forwarding it. When what to my civilized eyes did appear, but a lineup of actors, all liberal, half queer. The misguided freaks drew some curious looks, as they proclaimed his innocence; clutching his books. The tears then flew out from Sarandon's eyes, as she nominated him again for the Nobel Peace Prize. The actors were tethered to an ACLU sleigh, all towing the line of the urban decay. On Asner, on Penn, on liberal cop-haters, On Sharpton, on Jesse and other race-baiters. Then at 3:01 all curled up like a beetle, Tookie cried like a #### as they gave him the needle. When up from the actors there arose such a cry, they had failed in their mission, and Tookie DID DIE !! This country sucks. What about live by the sword, die by the sword? We'll spend more money on politics like usual and then do NOTHING in the end anyway. That IS the typical Canadian way to do things isn't it? Shoot at a cop? Firing squad, end of story. Kill someone with a gun? Same thing. $0.25 solution. I don't understand all the bubbling back and forth about this topic. Here's a reality check: People MUST know that it's plain wrong to pick up a gun and threaten someones life with it or actually shoot someone. Make them acountable. Advertise on TV that if you are convicted of a gun crime, you are executed by firing squad. The message is to put the gun down and leave it alone. Or else. Instead there's all this talk of laws, incarceration, revamping prisons etc, etc, blah, blah. Address the subject Ottawa.

I think we should build a max prison for these types on Hans Island. That would kill two birds with one stone. Isolation and sovereignity.

Well yeah, there's the parent thing. That legitimate in a lot of cases. My 16 year old son recently left home, last week. He has continually rejected the notion of working for our family run business even though the coin was good. He has rejected all attempts by myself and his mother to instill responsibility and self motivation. Nothing has worked. He sees the greener grass on the other side of the fence and wants to live some other way than has been provided for him. He has been accelerated in school and although his grades are average, will graduate next month at 16.5 years old. To my knowledge, he does no drugs or is doing anything illegal. He's chosen to live with a buddies family and start a new life for himself outside our home. I just hope he makes good choices for his life. He could easily get swayed to the dark side. I blame the media and the left wing teaching system in our schools that have instilled the doctrine of independence over traditional values in our children. Somehow, my son has the opinion that he would rather do it all himself the hard way, than be a kid, comply to the family values, and then reap the benefits of such. That's after being a good parent with the same spouse, everything normal. Sometimes the kid is just to blame, nothing else. Where do they get these ideas?? Media and teachers.

Well, seeing as how we are a socialist oriented country (Trudeau), why not have most of the young punks conscripted into the biggest boys gang in the country and instill a father figure into them and force them to reallize what Canadian values are. ie. Military If they want to play with guns, let them, pay them to do it. Send them to Iraq to shoot at legitimate targets. Maybe the punk gang thing won't be so attractive when they get back
