  1. What's the big deal? Editorial cartoons lose their punch after the first day anyway. First the Muslims act out and then it's important to keep publishing a lame old cartoon? Something isn't right here.
  2. $0.25 and another buck and a half for his brother in laws and pals sitting next to him. Lead is cheap.
  3. Does that guy have a darker complexion and stand very tall??? Hmmm....
  4. I'm sure you've got them shaking in their boots. You could pop a vein and fall into an epileptic fit of rage, and the parades and skiing will go on. Yeah, I know. That's good though if they keep grouping up like that. It'll be easier to get rid of them all if the government ever comes to its senses. Boom....... Just kidding.
  5. Which is why the BC Human Rioghts tribunal ruled they had the right to refuse to rent to teh couple in question. Get your facts "straight". Gee, someone should tell some of the religious groups that endorse gay marriage (including Canada's largest Protestant denomonation, the United Church). Also: are heterosexual marriages unsanctified by religion also meaningless? Personally, as an atheist, I think the recongnition of the legality of my union is far more more meaningful than the blessing of some imaginary sky pixie. BD!!!!!! Don't let the Muslims hear you say that about the big Muhammad. They'll be all over your black fur. hahahaha
  6. Are you consistent with family and friends who are not married in a church -- that their union is somehow invalid and/or less than yours? No. Two queers being married. Yes. It's different. Doesn't matter how you slice it. It isn't the same. Quit trying to make it normal. Live the way you want. Be in love with your boyfriend for life, have a civil union, whatever. Have the same rights and freedoms as all of us, absolutely. Married. No. We can argue all day, but at the end of it, I'll vote for a government against ssm and you'll vote for it. That's democracy and the day there gets to be more queers voting than straights, I guess you win. The problem in talking in traditional terms about minorities is we always get branded as haters. Sorry to disappoint you but I don't hate queers, yet. I'll let you know, but I'm getting REAL tired of gay parades and things like Gay Ski Week up at Whistler this week.
  7. Let's just say I agree 100%. And then some. I can't think of anything nice to say about them so I'll shut up.
  8. I didn't figure this was a serious post, but I wasn't able to come up with a coup de grace of wittiness to tie your lawyerism to NHL greediness and abuse of status as media heros. See if you can come up with something and perhaps sign my name to it. thanks
  9. GOOD ONE HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! I've read the NESARA site. It's hilarious. Keep this stuff coming..it's entertaining. Beware though, Greg hates trolls.. HAHAHA!!!!!
  10. I don't think so Tim.... The Nazis were a technologically advanced right wing dictatorship. The Muslims seem to like their backwards religious based third world views. I would compare them more to the Mongol hordes except without leadership or direction, ready to self destruct into a feeding frenzy of internal disorganisation. I truly think that the best way to deal with this emerging Muslim discontent is to merely monitor it and not react to it until it becomes a tangible threat. People want to demonstrate and burn flags? So what.
  11. Thanks! I was being general and it wasn't pointed at anybody in particular. It's just courteous to back up stories with facts around here when a thread is started. Of course, this link contradicts the first post in this thread although I did notice that the article is outdated.
  12. I just wanted to see facts. Normally a thread like this will have a link to substantiate it so we know someone isn't blowing warm air out their rear end just to hear how it sounds. Besides, I'm too lazy to go find it myself.
  13. It'd be good to back up your nice story with some facts. How about a link or two? Funny how that is, no problem getting recruits when there's a free education and food involved, but throw in a little war and all of a sudden the military isn't so sweet? If this war was a real threat, there'd be a draft before you could zip your pants back up. If they run seriously short of people, thay'll start taking them anyway, at least that option is always on the table.
  14. wahhhh!!! sore loser....
  15. They don't impress me much either.
  16. Bad things can be said about any politician. It's the lasting effect that I'm referring to. Joe Who surely did some questionable things, but were they out of character or was he not willing to change his personal beliefs to suit the day? I don't remember details from then enough to personally argue the point. As a young adult, here's what made me like him and later think Trudeau was the weasel he was. Joe formed a minority government. He was up front with the Canadian people and said the price of gas needed to go up by 'x' amount. Well, his minority government was in trouble. Trudeau comes along out of retirement to run again and says, 'no way do we need to raise gas prices', etc. Of course he gets voted in again. Within a year or so, the price of gas was higher than Joe originally said. That was my first taste of real campaign promises being broken by weasel politicians like Trudeau. I respected Joe for telling the truth to us even though it wasn't what we wanted to hear. That's the way I recall it. Bill Hawrylak was as crooked as a dogs hind leg and lined his pockets with sideways land deals or some stuff like that. However, he was a leader who was great for the city of Edmonton and we prospered under his watch. I'm old enough to remember hanging out at 'Mayfair Park', and couldn't understand why they changed the name. Nowadays if you are away from the city for a couple years there's a good chance everything will have a different name when you get back. These will always be to me: Capilano Freeway Quesnel Freeway Mayfair Park Renfrew Park Calgary Trail I certainly don't remember Kennedy first hand, but everything I've read says he also might have kept the States out of Vietnam or quit a hell of a lot earlier before it got stupid. That makes him look like a saint compared to Johnson and Nixon. Politics were tricky then because the threat of another world war was real. The Cuban thing could have went there real fast.
  17. I've heard of people joining the military to get a free education and then whine when they have to serve abroad. Like reservists for example. I have a problem with that attitude and regardless of recruitment tactics, people surely must know that a military position carries risk. You have to be prepared to take the bad with the good. I think the USA and Canada should be able to have some sort of extradition process for military types taking shelter from obligation. In other words, a military person shouldn't be treated as a normal citizen in this regard. Uncle Sam wants his soldier back and Uncle Stephen should give him up, and vice versa.
  18. Nope, I respectfully say you're way out of whack saying that. Once a person signs up in the military, they're commiting to do their term generally and war is part of the risk. A soldier has a responsibility, (a big one), to maintain certain composure on a battlefield and not commit crimes against humanity within his scope or job level. They have to leave the policy decisions to people assigned that task.
  19. I heard some arogant Muslim on CNN tonight and all I can say is the time is coming for the big Monty Python foot to stomp a few of those backwards idiots.
  20. I am surprised at everyones agreement with my statements of late. As a matter of fact, I think everyone is leaning right since the election to unconciously save face. Have a look around this website. The hardcore lefties are being very tolerant as of late. Interesting....
  21. Yes ok. However, GWB and John McCain have their agenda out there and haven't been changing parties lately. I respect that, but the difference is I agree with their agendas more than you. Agreed to be in disagreement on that, but these 2 guys are focused and clear, and make my point just the same.
  22. I guess it's just my personal belief that a politician will only really do his/her best when the convictions they hold dear to their heart are out there on their sleeve for everyone to see. The attitude nowadays seems to be to hold your job at an armslength away from your real self. That makes you a slut to your job and really not deserving of being in public office. There's not too many politicians (ie real leader types) that I respect but here's a few. Ralph (of course) Mayor Bill Hawrylak of Edmonton GWB John McCain John Kennedy Ed Broadbent Joe Clark Don Getty was the worst premier Alberta has ever seen, imo.
  23. Yes I remember. I knew Nancy and Stephan Betkowski in the 80's on a personal level. While she did not cross the floor in the same sense as this thread, she still left one party to join another simply to stay in politics. That puts her personal convictions at question to me. I wouldn't trust a person like that.
  24. HEY! The person is elected and has a mandate to do a job. When they fail to do that, OUTTA THERE!! Then the people can elect a new rep. This just furthers the notion of backroom politics, get yourself elected and then show the people the real you. To me, crossing the floor is dishonest. A person of integrity should resign rather than cross the floor. Where are the persons core beliefs?
  25. A person crossing the floor has just ripped off the voting public. They should be fired and prevented from participating in public office ever again. I wouldn't ever knowingly vote for someone who had crossed. The notable in my memory is Nancy Betkowski.
