  1. I believe your comment is wrong.9/11 did not happen in Canada so I believe Canada has never bein successfully targeted by any Islamic extreme group in a terrorist attack.Aswell there have bein "domestic" terror bombings in Canada after the American 9/11 attack(I would have to research for exact dates and locations). I actually feel less safe under the anti Islamic Harper government. WWWTT
  2. Spoken like a true conservative. WWWTT
  3. Actually I was refering more towards upper upper management. As far as your second quote-its not my responsibility to educate you about trading practise. My comment was not intended to imply that I am an investment consultant or anything along those lines. However I believe that the laws governing such practise are signifagantly different in Europe and Asia.Do yourself a favour and educate yourself more in this field.Perhaps your opinion may change. WWWTT
  4. Actually if some of the companies in Canada and the US use the same shareholder/stock market practices in say another country like Japan were the laws in these regards are much different, many of them would be in jail. WWWTT
  5. When the same standards start to apply towards upper management this country will start doing better! Enough said. WWWTT
  6. Ya right. It sounds like that anyone who disagrees with you doesn't know what they are talking about. The statements that you are making are to vague and generic to have any merit by my standards. Not all corporations are evil, however there are some who could care less what happens to Canada 5 to 10yrs from now regardless of how much profit they rape out of the economy! Do you really believe that all these CEOs VP',etc, etc earning millions in salary and benefits are worth what they are getting paid? Where were you during the American congresional hearings about the big three auto makers a few years back? Everyone of those CEO leaches got ther freekin butts reemed for taking their private jets to Washington to ask for more tax payer dollars or they would "lay people off"! Who do you think paid for those private jets? Again I ask why? Why?Why? Why are you guys stickin your necks out for someone who will roll your wages back 10 years so that he/she may get a bigger bonus? WWWTT
  7. Hey TimG are you a CEO,VP or a chairman of a multi million dollar corp.?Do you own a multi million dollar corporation seeking some sort of subsidy, grant or tax break? Now I know that you are none of the above, but the reason why I ask is simple. Why do you feel it is neccessary to stick your freekin neck out for someone who gives a complete rats ass about your well being? Why? Even if you work for such a corp. I guarantee you that someone at some level above you is frantically desperately trying to keep production at the same level minus you on the payroll or your benefits and pension too! Carefull what you wish for buddy! WWWTT
  8. Yes,corporate tax cuts create lots of jobs! Lots of jobs for people who shuvle money into the trunks of CEO's or what I call "money shuvlers" And if the "money shuvlers" ever get laid off or ever find themeselves struggling, our country will become plaged with chronic unemployment followed by terrorists. The only way to prevent this is to increase corporate tax cuts and buy the best fighter jets money can buy!Lots of them! WWWTT
  9. It will be interesting to see the details behind this. Sometime in April I had attended a liberal rally in Brampton west at the CAW union hall. One of the business reps for the CAW introduced and put his support behind Andrew Kania(then MP of Brampton west) and Mike Ignatief. Was lending their hall for a liberal rally paid for or a contribution? Devil is in the details and something tells me the conservatives are feeling a little lonely in the scandal department. But maybe there's something here. WWWTT
  10. Oh really? Ok next time I'm in Ottawa I'll visit the local land registry office. There I will look up the title for "Canada"(somthing tells me I'm not going to find it).And when I do I'm betting I won't see the registered owner being "White man" or "Tilter" So then that would mean you are making a fraudulent statement(if you were trying to sell any part there of). WWWTT
  11. 100% agree!Well kind of. From my experience 50% of people in politics are there for one reason-power! Now that the NDP are in a position of forming some kind of government in the future, many good candidates will be attracted to join the ranks. And in turn some of these individuals won't be knocking on any red door soon. I believe the NDPs success is due in part from a growing anti-corporate movement across all western nations.I do not believe the NDP would be dumb enough to throw away a big part of their vehicle to achievment. Either way there will not be any rush to give Harper time to calculate his next moves. WWWTT
  12. Thank you for the correction, maybe I should be regularly checking with you before I make any posts so I do not stick my foot in my mouth in the future(actually I have done some research and Sir John Abbott was the first PM to be born in Canada, and at one time he was against Canadian confederation and wanted BNA to join the USA,freakin perverted 19 century Canadian politics-ignorance is bliss). Ok then if Chow were to win the opposition leadership she would then become the first opposition leader not born in the British isles or Canada.Aswell the first female opposition leader. And if she then went on to win a majority or minority number of seats in the next election she would become Canadas first woman "elect" prime minister, first PM to not be born in Canada or a commonwealth member country(or no wait that is wrong too,Hong Kong was part of the commonwealth prior to 1997)First visible minority and you can now see where I am going with this. There would be very many "ifs" and "buts" or risk in her becoming the next NDP leader. But only "if" you are thinking like a conservative or traditional liberal.Part of the appeal or "mystique" of the NDP is that they are the only one of the three major federal Canadian parties that is capable of breaking away from the old norm (or at least has shown any signicant capacity). Actually come to think about it I believe part of Jacks success was because he was married to Olivia!Maybe Olivia was whom everyone really wanted in the first place! Maybe I should revise my odds on Chow becoming the next leader of the NDP. I now give her a 50-65% chance of becoming the next leader of the NDP party! WWWTT
  13. This one's a real tuff one for me to predict. I have a feeling it could be a woman, lets say I give it a 65% chance. As far as being from Quebec?I would say a 70-75% chance that the next leader of the NDP is not from Quebec if Mulcair seriously runs as opposed to a symbolic publicity run at the position.I base this on the fact that the Quebec MP's lack experience. If Chow does run and win she will be the first opposition leader not born in Canada since Sir John A McDonald and the second in Canadas history. If she would win a majority of seats in the next election she would then be the second prime minister only in Canadian history to not be born in Canada. Now I point out this fact because it is in my opinion that the other two major federalist parties of Canada would be too terrified of this senario if they themselves were in the NDPs shoes right now. I believe the NDP is not afraid of taking chances,so I would give Olivia Chow a 40-50% chance of becoming the next party elect leader of the opposition. As a side note I wouldn't be suprised to see Jacks son make the jump to federal politics when the bi-election comes up in Jacks former riding as the NDP candidate. WWWTT
  14. Actually when I think about it, this football game of 1914(one of the greatest symbols or acts of peace) has ben slowly fading away since 9/11,Afganistan,Iraq and etc etc. We Canadians use to be great voices of peace. What happened? WWWTT
  15. I recently remembered something! During the first Christmas of WWI,the British and German troops played footbal(soccer) against each other. I also remember hearing something about this event partially inspiring the birth of the world cup after WWI. You think something as inspirational and profoundly creative will ever happen in Canada? WWWTT
  16. I am not sure how the HST is applied in BC as it is now done in Ontario in regards to services(labour). Previously in Ontario(seperate GST and PST)the PST was not applied to services, only goods.GST was applied to goods and services(as the name implies) Therefore service providers only charged 5%.Which is collected upon completion of a job and then repayed to the government on a 3 month cycle. In most cases there is a small period of time where the company collecting the tax for services provided to the costumer can hold on to this 5% before handing it over to revenue Canada. This equates into a small business loan. Increase 5% to 13% and effectively you are increasing this alleged small business loan. During the construction of the last house I built in the Kawarthas(2010-2011) a couple of the sub trade owners told me the HST is in a way helping them(but it also is hurting them, more on this at the end of my comment). Aswell it should help me too! In the previous houses I have built I was only able to apply for a GST rebate. Now I am able to apply for a larger HST rebate! However I am yet to finalize the paper work and see the rebate cheque. And I will have to crunch the numbers to see if this HST rebate program helps me recover a greater cost in the construction process. Contractors and sub trades who do smaller jobs were the costumer can not apply for any rebates have seen a signifigant drop in business. For them the HST has bein painfull! WWWTT
  17. Does anyone here really believe the Harper government will actually completely stop funding the CBC? More than likely the funding will be cut back knowing that this country is facing a deficit, but totaly cut off? Wow that would be political suicide, similar to when Mike Harris sold off the 407 in Ontario. Its not going to happen so really there is not much point in me continuing to engage in this fantasy that some pro conservatives have in trying to eliminate perceived pro left wing/anti conservative media coverage. WWWTT
  18. Please do not add laughing smily faces in your comments in regards to someone who has died of cancer-Please! It is very disrespectful and hurtfull Please do not continue making such comments. WWWTT
  19. You guys just can't wait until the man is finally six feet under to throw in a couple more kicks at him. Just let the guy be dead in peace! He was the leader of the opposition, many believed he would be the next prime minister.A prominent position in Canadian politics. Like it or lump it he deserves the state funeral. What bothers me is the motivation behind the criticism towards the media attention given to Jacks passing. Shame on you! WWWTT
  20. Actually I have talked with Bruce McCulloch and Kevin McDonald about "The kids in the hall" back in the mid 90's at their favorite resturaunt in downtown Toronto.I believe they would disagree with you. WWWTT
  21. Here is my take on this subject, three points. First is that we have a huge neighbour that is a master of propoganda. There must be some kind of counter effort or its bye bye Canada. Second. As far as comedy goes the CBC has helped nurture some excellent writers, actors and comedians. The CBC has no Canadian rival as far as comedy goes. And on that point it can be argued the CBC is worth every penny, keep the talent rolling. Third is the business about bias journalism and/or programing. From what I have read this seems to be the most sensitive issue. In my opinion I believe it is the job of the journalist or interviewer to be in depth almost to the point of intrusive and voice alternative opinions to the interviewed to obtain a braoder perspective. I do not believe that doing this is in any way partisan-However if the politician/person being interviewed is a conservative,a conservative viewer may assume the journalist /interviewer is biased. And vise versa for liberal or NDP being interviewed and viewed. I have come to this conclusion after years of observation from interviews of all stripes or political colours. I still believe that many in the media are biased, some are only better at hiding it than others. But in my opinion the CBC is probably the most balanced broadcaster in Canada. WWWTT
  22. Oh my God I can't believe some of the stuff that I have read here and on that other thread about Jacks death. The man just died,is there anything that's off limits when someone dies? Some real low people here,I'm not mentioning any names you know who you are! Cancer is a terrible disease,Gods strength for those fighting and their family members supporting them! All my sympathy for the Layton clan. WWWTT
  23. Where were you during the 90's? Do you not remember the reform running political adds during election time demonizing politicians from Quebec? Nice selective memory you have there Wild! And using a sporting event to judge someones political beliefs is a big stretch man! As far as pulling things out of my butt....you seem to be doing real good in that department so I'll give you all the room you need buddy. WWWTT
