In my opinion this statement is not true in regards to judges ruling over some past cases involving innocent people who have bein wrongly convicted. Case point is Guy Paul Mouran. The judge did not believe he was innocent and gave more merrit to the prosecution and police,crown witnesses etc. In fact thanks to DNA evidence,he was completely innocent and had a strong defence(at the time).But the judge incorrectly decided against him! If a judge makes a wrong decission then how is he/she or was he not using their judgement? This happens frequently! This is why I am against the police becoming politically active while still in the force(Fantino)And the media glorifying police,and the media over covering some cases before the justice system.It projects an illusion "The police can do no wrong" and will "Always defend the innocent". But ultimately if the judge decides to favour with one side or the other its a judgement call. WWWTT

I actually found this authors views interesting and the subject being handled in an unbiased analytical approach by the interviewer. I believe this book would make a good read for those interested on how we can make our justice and political system more accesible to average citizens. WWWTT

This is something that I have never understood? Tilter do you own a multi million dollar corporation?Are you a CEO,vice president or board member or have any such affiliation with one? I sincerely doubt you are any of the above,so then why are you so quick to defend these people and organizations? Do you think these organizations actually care about you?They obviously do not when you fill up your SUV or pay your bills! Why do you feel it is neccessary to make up wild fantasies just to protect them and help or justify them to continuely gouge you any way they can concievabely imagine? WWWTT

Ok I can spare a few minutes to argue with you here. I have bein to China four times,Hunan,Guangxi,Guangdong provinces,Hong Kong and Macau.These places are all in the south and yes I have visited rural aswell as urban. Have you ever bein to some of the poorer areas in Canada? So please explain how they are copying current leaders?And I guess they are only copying how to be successful.When I last checked we are just barely getting out of a recession.Are they copying how to get into recessions aswell or were they sick that day when this was being taught in economics 101?(This is actually one of the most lamest points I have ever heard someone use for an argument) As far as why China has not bein able to catch up to the west until the last 30-40 yrs is very simple.Ever hear about Japanese occupation,civil war,impearalism,attempted colonialization or WW2? Actually when I think about this statement that you have written it is obvious you have no concept or sence of gravity of what this thread is about. Things are getting worse in Canada/US. I personally do not buy the talk about cheaper imported goods being responsible for the demise of our standard of living. Imports only account for a percentage and do not include essential services and agricultural,mineral,fosil fuel,etc,etc resources. Some others here also blame government spending but somehow it is implied or assumed that this only involves unionized employees or postal workers and never military/police/courts/upper and lower house salaries-pensions-staff operating expences(parliament in general)/corporate welfare. Lots of propoganda and red herrings to look past to see the real culprits. WWWTT

Oh ok then so if housing,food and transportation is less there then here would I still need to earn as much there as we do here(for similar service or job) to enjoy the same standard of living? WWWTT

I'm not sure if that number is correct due to the cost of living there?But you are right in implying that it is lower than here(actually come to think of it when you factor cost of living and the cost of manufactured goods in China,you are a ways off) However it is climbing at a very fast rate and it has become obvious that this ratio will match ous,and with their higher efficiency and hard work ethics they will surpass us. Currently their population is double to triple that of the combined G7 so ya I'm right! Another point is that the industrial revolution started less than 200 hundreds yrs ago and currently most countries in the world have greater than 40% of their economies based in agriculture.So to imply that China have had the opportunity to be a modern industrialized nation for the last 5000yrs is false! In fact it was China that invented the use/exploitation of fossil fuels and paper currency,these two inventions are massive pillars and/or cornerstones of the industrial revolution and capitalism!Without them the industrial revolution would have never happened at all! I guess you never heard about "The Peoples republic of China" They are located just west of Japan and north of Vietnam. They also have the largest population in the world and are the 2nd or 3rd largest geograpical country in the world(depending on interpretation). They also have the second largest economy in the world growing at an astronomical,historicly never seen before pase that will double the current G7 combined within 40-50 yrs. Ring any bells yet? Are you saying we never had civil wars or rebellions in Canada or North America? Are you saying there was never any groups of people in Canada that have suffered great losses or were never coralled into small corners to live? Are you saying that there were never any groups in Canada that suffered from famine through the loss of one of their main food sources(buffalo)? Are you saying that there never was any religuos repression in any parts of Canada at any time? What is it about Canadian history that you do not like that has put you into such an incredible denial? You're looking at history through rose coloured glases! When the Europeans arrived(North and South American continents)They went through great extremes to destroy and wipe out centuries old cultures and civilizations deep rooted here! They enslaved and brought over slaves!(And by the way,at the time the Europeans classified slaves as being only 2/3 human) The thirteen colinies were so intolerant towards catholics and French that they rebelled against England after the Quebec act was enacted! I'll tell you what would have happened if the Chinese colonized the Americas-A big freakin war would have happened!Thats a no brainer!

This case has more to do with someone taking advantage of legal loopholes instead of a French vs. English thing. I remember when the Skydome(Rogers centre)was being built.A contest was held to choose a name.It was a no-brainer at the time that the name would be sky-dome since it had a retractable roof.Someone took a patent on the name and bingo!750 000$ settlement! I'm pissed off because I didn't think of doing it! WWWTT

Here in Brampton and Mississauga conservative mayors(Susan Fennel,McCallion)are synonomous with tax increases! This is why I find it freakin hallarious when the conservatives at the federal level say that Jack Layton is all about tax increases! What kills me is that the region of Peel mayors get absolutely no flack or critisizm! Instead they get re-elected with 60% vote without even having to wage a campaign. I have seen my taxes go from 2,300$(2004) to 3,500$(2011),services cut,and not even a freakin whisper of why from the media. In my opinion,if Fennel and McCallion are any indicators you guys in Toronto are in for a rough ride! My best advise would be to attend home budget improvement courses and start getting use to less municipal services! WWWTT

Ok I am indifferent on this topic. However I will add a thing or two. How does ownership exactly reflect mineral rights? Say I own a substantially large parcell(several hundred acres anywhere in Canda)and a mining company discovers a natural gas deposit in and around my property.How would any new changes to the existing law affect me?
