Are cannabis laws going in the wrong direction
WWWTT replied to WWWTT's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You know what else is bad, junk food! Ok I admit that once and a while I will have a cup of cofee with a donut or eat a bag of chips.Or maybe eat at a fast food restaraunt(McDonalds)But a short while after eating a big mac with fries and a coke I can feel the effects in my body(and mind) and I usually regret it. The point I am making is that there are many tempting and delicious toxins readily available, legal or illegal. I do not think(in my opinion) anyone hear is qualified to say which you can indulge in and which are off limits. So is the government qualified to dictate how we should live our lives in regards to what we may consume? As far as going through withdrawls,I crawled the freakin walls when I gave up nicotine for the first time.I have heard similar stories about food(over eating),cafine, alcohol, pot, herion, crack, crystal meth and cocaine. Are cannabis laws going in the wrong direction

You have misinterpreted my comment.Let me clarify. When someone is criminally charged in Canada they are innocent until proven guilty. The merit or validity of the law they were charged with can be challenged to be unconstitutional. If a judge sides with the defendant then the law in question must be sent back to the lower house for amemndments and be changed to reflect constitutional reality(lengthy process that also involves the senate). If these related laws are made more harsh then many more people charged will challenge them, resulting in the above scenario mentioned. And guess who's stuck with the bill?Taxpayers! WWWTT -
Are cannabis laws going in the wrong direction
WWWTT replied to WWWTT's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think Wild Bill will disagree with you on your first point here. I disagree about your statement about pot laws becoming more harsh in the next few years due do the conservative government. If I am correct it was provincial and/or federal judges and the people who have bein charged(ultimately) in Canada who have been responsible for the relaxing of restrictions. The previous liberal government was just acting according to demands being made from the courts. If the conservative government continues to take a harsh stance, there could be a backlash and the reverse could be the result. WWWTT -

I disagree! But I also agree! Cofee can be abused very easily because for some people it is very addictive,if so it can severely disrupt your sleep. Lack of sleep has been proven to cause many health problems and impairment issues. In fact the lack of sleep or disruption of sleep issue is much more serious than what you may think it is or what many people may think! In my opinion,it is in only your opinion that cafine is more beneficial than the other substances out there. I agree that there are health benefits. In fact many of these so called taboo drugs were first introduced and became popular for their health benefits. I beleive most of us here can agree that abusing or over consumtion is bad. Another good example is food.Without it we would starve to death. But I am sure there are many people here(including me) that would benefit from skipping a meal or cutting back on portion size! This subject has bein a classic topic for debate for many decades. Many people here are itchin to debate it in any related thread and I felt that this subject deserves its own thread. Is the conservative government looking out for its citizens interests by discouraging us from using this product/substance/plant? Or is it any of there business to tell us what we should or should not use? Is this a dangerous plant? Or is it as safe as any other cultivated one? I want to make it clear to everyone hear that I do not use cannabis, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, cocaine, etc, etc. For me they are all the same and are all equal in toxicity or health benefits! WWWTT

You have not proven any of the statements here so the comments that you make are easily dissmissed! However the job of the government is to ensure that postal service is easily accessible to Canadian citizens, business and international trade. When Canada post locked out the employees they put their interests ahead above those that rely on this part of infrastructure that you shamefully compare to "Tim Hortons" or "Costco"! The Postal workers union and its members are ensuring or were attempting too ensure that this company maintains a higher standard that is required for an institution that warrants such actions. WWWTT

Man this quote is freekin hallarious! The reason why is because it has been medically found that junk food can be bad for your health. In fact it can be argued that eating junk food can be more bad for your health then using cannibis! I guess if something is legal it must be OK to consume! Thanks for looking out for me Harper! WWWTT

Ever heard of "Hard work","dedication","commitment"? Canada post plays a very important role in Canada, there are some qualities required. If Canada post does not provide insentive then they will just aswell adopt a revolving door hiring policy! A company is only as good as its employees! WWWTT

Man you must be living in a bubble where time stands still. First of all from what I heard you are being very generous with your pay and benifit package(if someone can provide an up to date accurate site please do). Secondly inflation and taxes in this country has turned 20hr into a mediocre job. Thirdly, slavery is against the law in Canada and legislation to force people to work can be interpreted as unconstitutional. And finaly you have completely ignored the meat of my comment. The lockout! Heres a contrasting story. I spent the last 18 days in China. I flew economy on Cathay Pacific from Pearson to Hong Kong direct(15hrs).Attended my wifes immigration interview at the Canadian consulate and spent a total of two days there. Took a one hour ferry boat ride to Macau and stayed on the island of Taipa at the Grandview hotel. From there my wife and I regularly visited the historic areas of Macau by city bus(fare was two Patacas or .30CDN)Stayed there for another 2 days(and no we did not gamble). Took another ferry to Shenzhen city(mainland China)Visited my brother in law and stayed at his appartment one night. Next day my wife and I travelled on an overnight sleep on train to ShangCha(12hrs),capital city of Hunan province and where chairman Mao started his political life.2011 is also the 90th anniversary of the communist party in China. We stayed there a couple days and visited a nearby city to see the memorial home of Mao. From there we travelled on another over night sleep on train to Nanning(14hrs).Capital city of Guangxi province near Vietnam. This is my wifes home town and we stayed at her families home for the rest of my stay.We travelled around the city by cab and city bus(.25CDN fair) Two days before I departed we took an overnight sleep-on bus back to Shenzhen, bus back to Hong Kong and you get the idea. Public transportation there is extremely affordable, accesible and popular there. And the food was great! WWWTT

Than explain why the Netherlands has a lower per capita usage of cannibis? There are too many health related issues(mental and physical)immproperly addressed in the justice system. In my opinion Wild Bill is right on this one but should make it an election issue. WWWTT

Terrorism Charges infringe on Charter Rights
WWWTT replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Agree and disagree. The supreme court care much about our opinion,if you make a lengthy, expensive legal battle in a system designed to distract or discourage the public from doing so! In my opinion the supreme court is always right when their eyes are open(the supreme court is also very lazy). Are their eyes always open to injustice if we do not challenge them? WWWTT -
Agree and disagree A judge cannot be removed.Only the judge can deside when he/she would like to retire. The inexperienced and illinformed public in my opinion have absolutely no business dictating who should have such great powers such as judges have(and salaries). I agree with the rest of your comments here.If you don't feel you have done something terribly wrong after spending a couple years in the hole then you never will! WWWTT

After reading the comments here I'm almost afraid to add something!Someone may try to twist my words to start an argument. Happy Canada day! Enjoy the fireworks! WWWTT

In my opinion Canada Posts action of locking out the workers is unacceptable and they should be punished for doing so. They put their own interests ahead of Canadians and businesses and that is not in line with the fundamental purpose of a national postal service(infrastructure). I believe that the workers could have expanded their strike(I lack enough info to be sure of the extent). But they choose not too to minimize the impact. Aswell it is the right of all to refuse to work or perform a task that you feel you are being poorly compensated for or if it jepordizes your safety or that of others. WWWTT

Wow I find that real hard to believe. My mail box is freekin full of advertising and flyers delivered via Canada post! WWWTT

I'll admit I have not heard about this case through the media and only in this thread. I have read several comments here and the opening title so for now this will be enough for me. There seems to be two basic views of how our justice system should operate or what the ultimate purpose that is mandated to the justice system should be. The conservative view seems to drift towards a deterent "tough on crime" approach. And dictate to the courts what there mandate should be. The left wing sees the court in a slightly different light giving more merit to judges, crown and defence attorney. But in my opinion there is still too much conservative thinking(towards the justice system) in the left to make that much of a distinction that clearly seperates the two. The conservatives want to create a clearer polarization to make this an election issue. In my opinion this is a huge waste in tax payers dollars because anyone that is criminally charged has the right to challenge the law that they were charged with.If a judge rules in favour of the defendant then the law goes back to the lower house for amendments. And all the parties involved don't get paid minimum wages! And this process doesn't have a quik drive through service! This is an involved topic and there is more I need to add.I will do so at a later date, time permiting. WWWTT

I wonder if he will still try to write it off at tax time? WWWTT

Spot on man!Spot on! WWWTT -
A few weeks ago I filled out a census form so technically I am a stat according to stats Canada.Or at the very least I helped provide stats Canada fulfill an important function. Did you not fill out your form? If you have intentionally failed to do so then I believe you have committed an offence punishable by law. WWWTT

Is this the best you can do? Pointing the finger at a ghost from the past to justify Harpers actions is real lame and poor debate ammo. We are only one month into this government and at this pase the conservatives are going to get really bruised up in opinion polls before long. Good luck WWWTT
-
Why don't you just start a thread with this part of your quote as the title. Oh by the way I will be going to China next week for my wifes immigration interview. I'm going to be slappin a hot Chinese ass every night for the rest of my life buddy! But at least you still have CPACE and Sun TV. WWWTT

I'm glad Harper can find the time to go see the Canucks play in Boston. I guess he was to busy to visit the flood victims in Quebec or make some kind of assuring comment to some Canadians there. This game must be real important to give a higher priority than Canadians. Yep hockey and the multi million dollar earning players and owners are very important people in Canadian society. They must contribute a vast amount for the PM to give them more attention than the poor people in Canada suffering in despair. I hope Canadians will not forget this! WWWTT

Partisan? Why are you bringing up this term? Did I ever mention protesting having any connection with being partisan?Or the Queen of England being partisan? Ok maybe I mis worded the statement about the Queen "publicly" criticizing Thatcher(still became public knowledge) But I am not going to try to prove something that I have never claimed(monarchy being partisan). Secondly do you really belive that the PM would give a lone page a private audience to discuss political direction? WWWTT
